Explain the difference? I think escort is just a nicer way of saying prostitute. I get paid a lot. I don't feel proud of what I do. But the way I started doing it doesn't sit right with me

I don't want to go into details as it's too outing. But basically met a lovely new man, thought I was having a 'fun time' which I was happy with and it's morphed into escorting. Which makes me sound really dim.

Some people not unreasonably take the euphemism at face value, and think that escorts are paid to escort their clients to cocktail bars, to accompany them to the ballet and to pose as their tall, slender, glamorous, intellectual date at dinner parties, and then to go home to their own bed with £1k in their handbag.

(I don't actually think that job exists. I think it's more straightforward just to say prostitute to avoid misunderstanding.)
