@coastergirl

The OP is doing something lovely and a lot of people have asked for advice, myself included. She's not responded to me either, but I'm not going to have a strop about it! Thanks for the thread OP.
Thanks so much. I've found your original request and have been working on it. You sound like you'd suit a modern, fun style that's still practical as you work in the school. My first thought was a jumpsuit as they are so versatile and I think would flatter your figure.

I think this shape could be great for your figure as it's actually very long in the body and you just tie the belt where you want to emphasise a waist as it's removeable and the belt also hides the tummy. It's in a lyocell fabric which is super soft so would be good to wear all day whilst at work. And you could fit an ample bra under the shoulder straps

https://www.simplybe.co.uk/shop/washed-black-soft-lyocell-denim-sleeveless-belted-culotte-jumpsuit/yy541/product/details/show.action?pdBoUid=5014&optionColour=Washed+Black&pdpClick=true

I'd also suggest this mango dress. It's a nice, flowy style that won't cling to the tummy area but it has shape to it so would work on the waist and hip area for yoh

@coastergirl I'd also try a skirt with one of your longer tops you mentioned. This style has a nice shape to the bottom half so would balance out your proportion and again it's nice and flowy so flatters https://www.curvissa.co.uk/products/animal-print-tiered-skirt//A-11D669912?PFMrsn=browse&PFMMref=false&PFMpsp=own&PFMM_lpn=25

@lightand

I am on page 4. Prepared to wait for ages.

Thank you op for what you are doing.
I think you may have been taken by surprise how many requests you got!

Thanks so much. Absolutely! I only have a small selection of clients as I've been on maternity leave with two under 2 but I started this thread to get myself out there again! The responses have been fab, just a lot to get through!

I can't believe people are being so rude. I've not had my question answered yet either but am definitely not going to be nasty about it. I'm in awe of the OP who is doing an amazing job with the posts that have been answered.

coastergirl · 27/06/2021 21:49

@frillseeking thank you so much! I'll have a look at those. I really appreciate it. You're right about a modern, fun style. If I wear stuff that's too "grown up" I feel like a little girl dressing up. Ridiculous really, I'm 37! 😂

AnneLovesGilbert · 27/06/2021 22:10

No question but this has been really interesting to read, thank you OP. You haven’t lost your edge despite obviously having your hands full! Fear not. Great replies Smile

@ContessaVerde another drop waist find. Really love this one

@WhoNeedsaManOfTheWorld

I have narrow hips and not much bum. My waist is high and my weight sits on 'love handles' Trousers and jeans are baggy around the crotch and hips and fall down. Have you any jeans recommendations?
I'd go for a high waist straight leg, slim style. You don't want anything low or mid rise as they're awful for the dreaded muffin top whereas high waist holds everything in! Something like the shape in the image attached. You can see the model is slim but this style gives a nice shape to the hips

Are there other shops that do a similar style as Sahara London and Pure Collection? I love their straight classic lines but as I am a size 16 I find it hard to find elsewhere (and I hate black) without it shows of bumps. As much as I love Sahara London it is o the pricey side of things.
@frillseeking sorry oracle, I went to sleep! If you are still here then re jeans, I am size 10, I wanted an update, I tried wide leg high waist but it turned out I'm 38 not 25. I tried mom jeans but they were falling down huge. Maybe it was the brand. Who knows.
Have a look at Gap and Zara. They both do fantastic mum jeans and they're great for a trim figure. If you want to splurge, have a look at citizens of humanity

Thanks so much Frillseeking.
Where’s that one from? i cant tell from the screenshot.

MumblesAndMutters · 27/06/2021 23:21

Orient Express poster - how exciting! Having done it (and loved it) my one tip would be don’t go for stuff that snags easily. The spaces are narrow and stuff catches on doorknobs and so on, more than I would have ever expected. All the dresses I took that were silk or viscose material ended up catching on stuff around the waist/thighs. Otherwise it was really good, enjoy!

frillseeking · 27/06/2021 23:42

@lightand

I want 3/4 length trousers. I cant find them in physical shops[been in about 5]

People my age are wearing them. I assume they are doing like me, and wearing old pairs.

What kind of style are you thinking? My first thought was a cropped slim style but then I thought you might mean a wide leg more casual style. There's lot around though, just depends on what you're after. I've linked some from m&s as a starting point

@AlGorithim

My stomach is massive and all I can wear are baggy T-shirt’s and elasticated waist trousers and I’m super self-conscious about it. What can I wear which doesn’t cling but also doesn’t look like I’m wearing a marquee? Help!

Yes, I am losing weight but I still need to dress in the meantime!

Well done on losing weight, it's so hard when you're in that in between stage and horrible to feel really self conscious. I'd suggest something like this dress shape as it's completely loose around the tummy area but it has a nice print, v neck to show off some skin and although it's a loose fit, its not massive or oversized.

Aw! THANKYOU from frumpy 51! It has been suggested to me to wear more fitting clothes, bit scarey as I’m a creature of habit!
Will try the vejas!!!

nzeire · 28/06/2021 00:59

You sound lovely btw xx

Orangeinmybluelightcup · 28/06/2021 06:39

Ah thank you op! I will try to find some zara jeans on vinted.

AlGorithim · 28/06/2021 06:50

@frillseeking Oh thank you, that dress is interesting - I’ve never looked at that site before. I will look for similar stuff!

Sorry, I wasn’t being stroppy in my comment about being missed, I was trying to point out to others who were getting annoyed that there had been a lot of replies and it was easy to miss some!

Of course, no problem!

Lots of posters asking for styles that cover their mum tum or middle aged spread or they're conscious of that area. Essentially, you want something loose fitting in that area that still has shape so that you don't look bigger than what you are and don't look like you're wearing a tent. People think of the smock style and think tent but there are lots of shaped/tiered styles that are really flattering. I think it's also important to try prints and colours so that you don't feel like you're just covering up in something plain and boring.

Also anything with a knot detail or pleat front to add interest whilst concealing any lumps or bumps and tops that have ruching or a bubble hem.

www.phase-eight.com/product/jinny-drawstring-hem-top-303022693.html#cgid=jerseywear&is=false&sz=60&start=0&isSecondPage=false&pid=303022693&pos=23. This is a great basic

www.wallis.co.uk/black-ditsy-ruffle-front-blouson-top-/AYY01499.html this shape for example is great for larger tummies as it is pouched and loose in the tummy but then has a tighter band over the hips to give shape

Also the top attached-the print and ruffle detail add interest which will deflect from the tummy

A bit of a mixed bag here of example and it very much depends on your age and style but the principles are the same so hope that helps!

@Redruby2020

Hi, hoping if I post I might still get a reply. This is a great post! So can I ask where would you advise to shop for person with 38H/HH bust 🤦‍♀️ Also for plus size clothing that is not skimpy or over the top, or too frumpy. I am a size 20/22 in some clothing depending on style/cut etc/brand. And what can I do so that I don't throw on jeggings every day of the week in all seasons because I don't know what else to wear 🤦‍♀️🥲 Thankyou in advance!
I'd recommend having a look at:

Simply Be
Yours clothing
Evans - they have some great key pieces and they've gone a bit more trendy which is nice to see and they really know how to make a plus size garment
New Look
Curvissa
Violeta by Mango is new to the plus size market and offers some lovely pieces

Thank you @frillseeking. You are a star Star. I have ordered the jacket from Made by Belles Smile. It’s exactly what I was after.

@RubixRubicon

Mid 40’s female here. 5’3, 16 stone (Sad). My style is definitely classics over fashion, but I do not consider I am old fashioned if that makes sense. I am looking for some really nice workwear that does not necessarily involve black garments or polyester. Blonde hair, blue eyes, light complexion. Thank you.
Here's some ideas for you. Navabi is a great site, lots on there.

@RubixRubicon universal standard is also a brilliant site where you can see the garment you choose on a model the same size as you. They have some great workwear options
