PolkaHots · 03/07/2018 23:29

I thought spam was when someone is trying to sell you something.

MariaWaria · 03/07/2018 23:49

@FeistyOldBat put this www.cultbeauty.co.uk/the-ordinary-hyaluronic-acid-2-b5.html on first,
Were you suggesting this be put on lips or area around lips?

I need something to get rid of, or at least blur, lines forming around lips

Bahhhhhumbug · 04/07/2018 08:01

Op l asked a few pages back about minimsing those marionette nose to mouth lines and the mouth corner to jawline ones that make you look a miserable cow 'glum'. Are there any tricks to minimise their appearance with foundation /highlighter tricks etc.? Sorry if you have answered already but searched your many links and can't see anything.

FeistyOldBat · 04/07/2018 08:59

@MariaWaria

I bought those The Ordinary products about 18 months ago - Sali Hughes mentioned them in her Guardian column. Until reading this thread I'd treated the hyaluronic acid as a moisturiser and didn't deliberately put it on my lips. That might sound strange now, not to put moisturiser on my lips specifically.

Now that I've put the HA on my lips for for days running, I feel that something, I don't know what, is happening, I just have an awareness of a 'stretched' feeling in my lips. I haven't worn any makeup for days now, but am going out today so will put on my full face, summer version, and see if anything looks different on the lippy front!

FeistyOldBat

How interesting.....

I can feel my credit card about to leap into action.

Best BB/CC cream that's beneficial to skin too

FeistyOldBat · 04/07/2018 10:45

I'm tempted by BB/CC creams, but reading the labels, they always state high SPF numbers which is what makes make-up thick and cakey... I think. Am I right?

My foundation is Lancome's Teint Idole Ultra Wear (SPF 15) which suits me perfectly and I've never found a better colour match than 02 Lys Rose. It lasts fabulously well on me without looking thick or cakey whereas most foundations don't last well at all. At 70+ even a little setting powder looks awful on me. I've seen a colourless setting powder mentioned here, I forget the name, but reading the product label, it's £12 for a tiny amount of talcum powder. I probably need more regular skin care...

I am tempted by a BB or CC cream though, credit card is itching here, too.

@Seasawride no I don't have YouTube.

@Bahhhhhumbug if you are referring to smile lines, you can't do anything about it; except Botox.

@FeistyOldBat this is the best one I have found. Click on the shade name to get the one you want. www.amazon.co.uk/Max-Factor-Colour-Correcting-Cream/dp/B00E982066

No l mean when you get droopy jowls causing lines or creases that give your mouth that glum upside down look. I wondered for example if you could create an optical illusion by using a slightly lighter foundation in those creases for example. I noticed Theresa May who has quite pronounced 'glum lines' as l call them, is looking a lot better lately and l am sure had she had surgery or botox we would know about it so am guessing it is just clever make up.

givenchycallsmyname · 04/07/2018 11:06

@Hum2 Rimmel 9-in-1 B.B. cream.

OP posts:
givenchycallsmyname · 04/07/2018 11:08

@Bahhhhhumbug well, if it's jowls, the only thing you can do about that is a facelift. Jowls are skin that has sagged.

@WaterOffaDucksCrack not silly at all. Please report back about the results. Best of luck!

My question is slightly different, but what are your working hours like? Do you do a lot of weekend, evening work? What does the bulk of your work entail? Is it photoshoots and that sort of thing? Obviously I appreciate you have spent a lot of time working your way to where you are now but I'm just interested in the sorts of hours you work. Does it fit around childcare.

It's all moot for me really, I think it's too late for me to change career now, but I can but dream!

givenchycallsmyname · 04/07/2018 11:15

@firsttimebabybirther use less heavy products, try something more lightweight on face.

OP posts:
givenchycallsmyname · 04/07/2018 11:17

@Moonkissedlegs I am self employed, I do it in my own time. It is my business, I don't work for an agency or anything. As such, I can work when I want. I am my own boss.

@Gladyoupoppedround first do red/ any warm eyeshadow colour and do your choice of style. Next, do a cat eye with liquid eyeliner to add drama and definition to eyes. Next take a black pencil eyeliner and dot under the base of top lashes. Put some individual eyelashes on bottom lashes, and a few at the outer corner of the eye at the top. Apply some mascara and a strip of false eyelashes to top lashes.

I have really dark circles and lines around my eyes. Any product the is good at covering the darkness sinks in and highlights my wrinkles. Any that don’t settle in the wrinkles don’t cover the darkness. Any recommendations?

Gladyoupoppedround · 04/07/2018 18:36

Not sure about the red though my eyelids look quite pinky and make me look tired. Thanx for replying though.
