Our verdict

Australian company Vuly claim the Thunder Pro is the best trampoline ever made. To prove it, they weight-tested the uniquely-designed trampoline by dropping a 1984 Toyota Corolla. Pretty impressively, the heavy frame and reliable spring-free design can easily take a vigorous bouncing over the course of 4 years from our tester's two teens.

The Vuly Thunder Pro 10ft trampoline is a well-constructed and beautifully finished piece of equipment. Its safety features are impressive, from its spring-free jump mat to its super-secure - not to mention tall - safety net.

Overall, the Vuly Thunder Pro offers a top-notch bouncing experience with exceptional safety features. While its high price puts it out of reach for many, the numerous awards it’s received for safety standards go to show you get what you pay for - the craftsmanship and high-quality materials speak for themselves. If you manage to snag one of these trampolines during a sale, it becomes an even more appealing option.

Once we compiled a shortlist of the trampolines Mumsnetters recommended, we then interviewed our testers about their trampolines, in this case in order to get their insights into what it was like for their family to own a Vuly Thunder Pro. We asked them all about their and their children's experiences with the trampoline, including the ease of set up, safety, design, and how much play value it gives kids. How easy is the Vuly Thunder Pro to set up?

Setting up the Vuly Thunder Pro trampoline requires some time and effort, but the end result is undoubtedly worth it. One of the features that makes the Vuly Thunder Pro unique is its lack of screws, nuts and bolts. All pieces click together with minimal tools needed. However, our tester says this doesn’t make the trampoline a walk in the park to assemble. She enlisted the help of two strong men, who took half a day to get the trampoline up and running. All the necessary tools were included, which made the task more manageable.

Our tester would have liked the option of an installation service - something we couldn’t find Vuly offering directly. It’s worth noting that when we reviewed Springfree Trampolines, our testers all recommended having the trampolines professionally built, too.

What makes the Vuly Thunder Pro different to other trampolines?

When comparing the Vuly Thunder Pro 10ft trampoline to a traditional trampoline like the TP Challenger there are notable differences that sets the Thunder Pro apart. Firstly, the Vuly Thunder Pro has no springs, eliminating the risk of pinched fingers or limbs during use.

In terms of safety, both trampolines have safety nets, but the Vuly Thunder Pro's safety net is particularly impressive. It’s made from UV- and tear-resistant Terylene fabric, and claims to be the world’s tallest safety net at 190cm.

The TP Challenger retails for £449 (although at the time of writing it has 50% off), less than half the Thunder Pro’s £1,199 price tag.

Compared to the similarly priced Springfree trampolines, the Vuly Thunder Pro shares their springlessness (is that a word? It is now) but has a different design entirely. Springfree trampolines get their bounce from flexible diagonal rods, while the Thunder Pro is supported by pre-curved ‘leaf levers’ arranged in a dome shape at the base of the jumping mat.

We don’t think there’s much between Springfree and Vuly in terms of safety and quality, but Springfree is recommended more often by Mumsnetters, and they do offer an installation service, so Springfree just pips Vuly to the post in our opinion.

What is the Vuly Thunder Pro like to use?

The solid weight of the trampoline makes it sturdy and stable, whether you’ve got growing teens bouncing all over it or there’s a gale blowing through. Thanks to its sturdy construction and great safety features, parents get peace of mind while kids can enjoy the trampoline to their hearts’ content - and adults can have a bounce too if they wish - the upper weight limit is an impressive 150kg.

Our tester really liked the ability to add accessories to the trampoline, like a sun shade and basketball hoop.

Built to last, the Vuly Thunder Pro is a brilliant investment that will bring years and years of fun for all ages.

While the Vuly Thunder Pro 10ft trampoline may be on the pricier side, it's important to consider the value it offers. The trampoline has received a Good Design Award for its high standards of safety, highlighting its commitment to providing a safe bouncing experience.

Our tester bought her trampoline in a Black Friday sale, so it’s worth keeping your eyes peeled for deals if you think the Vuly Thunder Pro is the one for you.

The trampoline looks brand new even after more than 4 years of regular use, so it goes without saying that it’ll last and have great resale value when you’re ready to part with it.

In conclusion, while the Vuly Thunder Pro 10ft trampoline is certainly expensive, its exceptional safety features, durability and resale value make it a worthwhile investment.
