What Mumsnet users say

MumsyMalone · Tried & Tested
I have a Nuna CUDL which I absolutely love! My baby also hated the sling, but in the Nuna he settles and enjoys looking around and taking naps. I also found it easier than the Ergobaby Omni to adjust, and it gives great back support- he’s 7 months and 20lbs, so far no back pain.

After testing the Nuna CUDL Clik carrier for a month, parent-tester and new mum, Catrin found it to be comfortable, easy to use and great quality.

She says, “The CUDL Clik is really sturdy and comfortable for me and my son. The waistband offers good back support and is easy to adjust. I also like the magnetic buckles, which are secure and easy to attach and detach.”

The integrated breeze cover hood comes in handy for both sun and rain protection. Plus, the baby carrier offers four ergonomic carrying positions — newborn mode (with a built-in infant booster), facing in, facing out, and back carry — making it super versatile as your little one grows.

Catrin particularly appreciated how easy it was to get her son in and out of the carrier. However, she noted that the newborn head support band could be a touch higher, as his head moved a little during walks. Additionally, adjusting the back straps independently was challenging, though manageable with her husband's help. “I watched a video online showing how a parent could adjust these themselves, but in reality it was difficult to do. With help from my husband the straps were easy enough to adjust and once we were happy, we kept them in this position for future use,” she adds.

How we tested the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier

  • Four weeks of using the Nuna CUDL Clik carrier multiple times a week with a four-week-old

  • Also tested with Catrin’s six-month-old niece

  • Tested on countryside walks and trips to the shops

  • Used for an hour at a time

Catrin tested the Nuna CUDL Clik for four weeks with her four-week-old son and six-month-old niece so that she could test the facing in and facing out features. It was used on days out, in the local parks and for shopping trips.

Catrin only tested the CUDL Clik for an hour at a time, and didn’t take it on serious hikes. For more strenuous family walks, a baby carrier backpack  might be more suitable. Once testing was complete, Catrin scored the CUDL Clik on the following criteria: Assembly, safety, stability, ease of use, comfort, design, ease of cleaning and value for money.

Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier: What’s in the box?

  • Nuna CUDL Clik carrier

  • Set of harness covers

  • Pair of GOTS certified organic cotton bibs

  • Zippered wristlet pouch

  • Storage bag for the carrier

  • Instruction booklet

How easy is the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier to assemble?

It’s very straightforward, especially if you compare this type of baby carrier to a wrap-style carrier which might take a little more practice to master.

Catrin says, “There were step by step instructions in the manual with clear diagrams to follow. I needed some help from my husband to adjust the back straps for the first use as it was rather awkward to adjust myself but was easy enough to wear by myself after figuring it out.”

How does the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier look?

Catrin tested the CUDL Clik carrier from Nuna’s Liberty Fantasy Land Collection, featuring luxury fabrics and a tropical-inspired colour palette. Exclusive to John Lewis, this whimsical collaboration offers something a little different for parents wanting unique baby gear.

While Catrin finds the CUDL Clik a bit bulkier than some other baby carriers she’s tried, its sturdiness really stands out. The breathable mesh fabric feels durable, and the carrier has handy features like a front zip pocket and a removable wristlet pouch for small essentials.

The Velcro waistband adds extra support without being too tight, and adjusting the buckles and straps is straightforward. The built-in infant booster is great for newborns up to four months.

We also love the integrated breeze cover hood, which keeps your little one protected from the elements while staying breathable. Plus, the soft harness covers help prevent shoulder discomfort, making longer wear more comfortable.

Is the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier sturdy?

Yes! In fact, one of the standout features of the CUDL Clik is its sturdiness. Catrin says, “The carrier feels very robust and my son is always secure in it, however the newborn head support band could be better as his head was slightly higher than the band.

There is plenty of protection on the front and sides and good padding on the shoulder straps. Something to note is that there was less padding in the newborn insert, but more support when I used the carrier with my six-month-old niece. It’s very easy to put my child in on my own, which is a bonus.”

What’s the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier like to use day-to-day?

Designed to be used daily from newborn to toddler stage, the CUDL Clik is an easy-to-use carrier with four comfy ergonomic positions, including the back position for older children. Catrin used it a few times a week for country walks – particularly on rough terrain where it’s more difficult to take a stroller.

“Once our son is old enough to sit in a highchair, we’ll be using this carrier when walking in the city. I think it’ll be much easier than using a pushchair on buses, trains and tubes,” she adds.

What really sets this carrier apart is how easy it is to adjust the straps and secure your baby using the magnetic buckles. Catrin also appreciates the added security provided by extra buttons, which work alongside the buckles and magnetic clips to keep everything firmly in place.

How comfortable is the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier?

As far as baby carriers go, the Nuna CUDL Clik is very comfy for both parents and little ones. Catrin says, “My son wasn’t used to a sling or carrier, but after a few minutes in this carrier, he enjoyed the walk and was fast asleep in no time. As I mentioned, it’s easy to adjust most of the straps but you may need help from someone to adjust the back straps.”

A few benefits of the CUDL Clik are the breathable mesh fabric that prevents overheating, the lightweight breeze cover hood, the supportive waistband and extra harness covers to make the shoulder straps extra comfy.

What really sets the CUDL Clik apart is how easy it is to adjust the straps and secure your baby using the magnetic buckles. Catrin also appreciates the extra security from additional buttons, which work alongside the buckles and magnetic clips to keep everything firmly in place.

Switching to a back-carry position is surprisingly straightforward and suitable for children from nine months onward. Start by securing your child in the front position, then loosen the back straps. Carefully remove your arms from the shoulder straps one at a time while rotating the carrier around your body until your child is comfortably positioned on your back.

The included bibs are another thoughtful touch, helping manage drool or spit-up when your baby is facing in or out, keeping the carrier cleaner for longer.

Does the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier fold down?

The Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier does not fold down like a traditional pushchair or travel gear. However, its design includes features for convenience and portability. The carrier's compact structure, lightweight materials, and removable components like the wristlet pouch and bibs make it easy to store or pack when not in use. It is primarily designed for wearability rather than foldable storage, focusing on comfort and ease of use during outings.

Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier: Are there any added extras?

Yes. Some nice additional extras included in the purchase are a set of harness covers, a pair of GOTS certified organic cotton bibs, a detachable zippered wristlet pouch and the handy storage bag for the carrier.

Is the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier easy to clean?

Yes, the good news is that the CUDL Clik is machine washable. To keep it in good condition and extend its usage, Nuna recommends placing it in a mesh laundry bag and washing it in cold water on a delicate cycle. Be sure to avoid bleaching, tumble drying, ironing or dry cleaning.

Is the Nuna CUDL Clik baby carrier good value for money?

Although the CUDL Clik is more expensive than some other baby carriers, like the Phil & Teds Parade, Catrin believes it offers excellent value for money. Its four carrying modes, thoughtful extras such as GOTS-certified organic cotton bibs, and a detachable zippered wristlet pouch add to its appeal.

Most importantly, the carrier’s high-quality materials and sturdy construction ensure little ones stay safe and secure. “This carrier will also last a long time,” Catrin shares, noting that it worked well for both her four-week-old son and her six-month-old niece.
