What's the EcoAir Piccola Dessicant Dehumidifier like to use day-to-day?
The Piccola has three humidity settings and two fan speeds, so you can adjust according to your needs and preferences with regards to noise and humidity levels. It doesn't have a remote control or an app, so you do need to come down to the dehumidifier's level in order to operate it. The buttons are clear and easy to understand.
While there's no dedicated laundry or night mode, setting a target humidity does the job for laundry, and choosing the lower fan speed makes the dehumidifier quiet enough, at 33dB, for use at night.
The water tank is simple and easy to remove, empty and replace. However, there's a little stopper that could easily be misplaced, so make sure you don't lose it!
I found the EcoAir Piccola to be an unobtrusive, quiet and useful dehumidifier to have around the house. While it doesn't shift the ml like a larger dehumidifier, for small loads of laundry and keeping on top of damp, it's very impressive for its size.

Does the EcoAir Piccola Dessicant Dehumidifier offer good value for money?
At £223, the EcoAir Piccola is an expensive dehumidifier. For context, Mumsnet's most-recommend dehumidifier, the Meaco Arete, retails from £160 for a 10L model - that's twice the extraction volume per day of the Piccola. However, the Meaco Arete is much bigger and, at over 10kg, lots heavier than the Piccola.
Dessicant dehumidifiers tend to be more expensive than compressor models, and they can be used at any temperature, so for chilly homes that regularly drop below 15°C, they're the best type to buy.
All in all, the Piccola is a compact and versatile dehumidifier that draws moisture out of the air very effectively, helping to speed up laundry drying and keep on top of mould, damp and condensation. While it's on the pricy side, it's a great quality dehumidifier for those with a bigger budget but not a lot of space to spare.
