Natasha advises using the provided eye inserts for added protection during use
How easy is the CurrentBody LED face mask to use?
In Natasha’s words, very. “There’s only one mode on this mask (with red lights), which may be a disadvantage when it comes to versatility/certain skin concerns, but as an LED mask novice, I appreciated the simplicity. It then automatically turns off and beeps after 10 minutes when the treatment is complete.
“There’s also a clip, so in theory you could attach it to clothes and walk around, but I’d strongly advise against this - the lights aren’t great for clear vision, so this could be very dangerous!”
Funnily enough, I found this was the case also with the Shark CryoGlow during testing. LED face masks appear to be practical when wireless, but in reality, your vision is reduced - making it unsafe to do everyday tasks during use like walking down the stairs.
Cleaning the CurrentBody Series 2 is simple, thankfully - a quick wipe after each use and back into the storage bag it goes.
Does the CurrentBody LED face mask connect to an app?
Unlike Foreo’s FAQ 201 LED face mask that can be connected to the Foreo app on your smart device, CurrentBody’s Series 2 doesn’t have app connectivity.
How does the CurrentBody Series 2 face mask work?
CurrentBody’s Series 2 runs a single programme using 236 LEDs across three wavelengths at once: red at 633 nm (which is short for nanometre, a unit of measurement for the wavelength of light) to stimulate collagen and soften fine lines, near-infrared at 830 nm to support firmness and brightness and deep near-infrared at 1072 nm intended to reach deeper layers where ageing shows most.
“There’s only one treatment, so the wavelengths all work at the same time to target different layers,” clarifies Natasha.
In use, that translates to a ten-minute, set-and-forget treatment for LED novices like Natasha that just want something that does the job without the faff. She wasn’t chasing wrinkle reduction, so the headline for her was skin texture.
“I’m thrilled with the mask’s performance overall,” she says. “The biggest improvement has been in my skin’s overall texture and clarity. After using the mask for over a month, my mum even commented on how good my skin looked during a FaceTime call, and my partner remarked that I looked much fresher - so much so that he’s become a fan of sporadically using the mask himself!
“My complexion now looks clearer and less blotchy (as you can see from the before and after pics), and I plan to keep the mask as part of my routine even after testing is finished.”
