Best electric scrubber

If you spend too long battling stubborn stains in the kitchen or bathroom, a good electric scrubber can deliver a thorough clean with far less effort. Electric scrubbers use rotating or oscillating brush heads to do the scrubbing for you, making it easier to lift dirt, limescale and grease from tiles, grout, sinks and hobs.

While they might look like giant electric toothbrushes, they’re useful gadgets to have around the house. Most come with interchangeable attachments, from wide, flat brushes for larger surfaces to smaller heads for corners and tight spots. Some can even be used on pots, pans and other kitchenware. The Bosch Electric Cleaning Brush Set is our best overall electric scrubber for most households, but we’ve also found strong budget buys and scrubbers with detail tools for the areas where limescale tends to lurk.

After thorough hands-on testing, here are our honest recommendations for the best electric scrubbers to buy in 2026.

Bosch makes a powered scrubber which recharges via USB. My DD used it on ingrained limescale on her marble tiles; it worked brilliantly. It has various attachments, including a scrubbing brush and a green scourer.

Our verdict

Tested by Mumsnet home editor Poppy O’Neill: Read our in-depth Bosch UniversalBrush Set review.

The Bosch electric scrubber stood out during testing. It’s comfortable to hold and manoeuvre, and it’s perfectly sized to cover large areas quickly. The detail attachment is useful around plug holes and window seals, or for removing grime that’s taken up residence in your grout.

The Bosch comes with a carry case, which might sound inconsequential, but for a gadget with lots of small attachments, it makes a big difference to have a sturdy zip-up case to keep them all safely together.

It’s also incredibly powerful. At times, our tester Poppy found it a little too powerful for fine detail jobs, going with such gusto that it skidded off the curve of her bath taps. As well as the flat round brush suited to scrubbing large areas and shifting limescale, and a detail attachment, it comes with a melamine polishing pad and two brillo-pad-esque options, the latter of which worked wonders inside Poppy’s oven. It can also be used inside pots, pans and casserole dishes, making light work of dried-on food residue, such as pasta bake.

At over £50, it’s one of the most expensive electric scrubbers on this list, but while the other scrubbers Poppy tested excelled at a particular task, the Bosch was suited to every job she set it to. The only drawback is that while other scrubbers have a long, thin neck like an electric toothbrush, the Bosch is a little chunkier. This made it tricky to reach the narrowest, hardest-to-reach nooks and crannies, such as behind kitchen taps.

2

Best budget electric scrubber

What we like
  • Good for detailed cleaning such as grout, plug holes, rubber seals and around taps

  • Comes with four scrubber head attachments

  • Pointed brush head performs well on limescale and grout

What we don't like
  • Batteries not included

  • Awkward to remove the battery compartment

  • Very small size even with the largest attachment

Key specs

Our verdict

Tested by Mumsnet home editor Poppy O’Neill: Read our in-depth Lakeland electric scrubber review.

If you’re looking for an affordable electric scrubber for detail work, the compact Lakeland Electric Scrubber costs less than £20.

Thanks to the gripped, non-slip handle, Poppy found this scrubber lightweight and comfortable to hold, even during longer cleaning sessions. The slide-to-stay-on button worked well, while a simple press delivered bursts of oscillation for stubborn mineral build-up or grubby seals.

Poppy loved the pointed detail-brush attachment, which helped her get into tight spaces and clean around plug holes with ease. The Lakeland Electric Scrubber performed well on limescale and grout. Even with the large brush head, though, it’s relatively small and slow to use over larger areas.

The four required AA batteries aren’t included, and Poppy found the battery cover quite fiddly to remove, a complaint echoed by many online reviewers. The bristles also showed signs of wear fairly quickly, so this model is best suited to occasional detail work rather than frequent whole-house cleans.

I have the SonicScrubber. I don’t use it that often, but I love it for getting into tricky corners, around plug holes and so forth. 12y DD was using it for something upstairs earlier (don’t ask me what; I heard her but couldn’t see her). As far as I’m concerned, if it gets her cleaning, it’s a win!

Tested by Mumsnet home editor Poppy O’Neill: Read our in-depth Sonic Scrubber Review.

With over 2 million units sold since 2007, the ‘original’ Sonic Scrubber has earned high praise from online reviewers. It also lived up to expectations during testing, with Poppy describing it as ‘small, precise and surprisingly strong’.

Looking like an oversized electric toothbrush, the Sonic Scrubber comes with four attachments and a long, slim neck that reaches small spaces, such as behind taps and inside plug holes. With brush heads oscillating 10,000 times per minute, Poppy found it surprisingly effective on limescale and grout, even in tight corners and joins.

Due to its compact size, this scrubber is best suited to detail work around taps and grout rather than large expanses of tiled wall or flooring. The largest attachment measures just 3.8cm across, so tackling a shower screen or the inside of an oven would be slow going.

This affordable Sonic Scrubber is battery-powered and, helpfully, the batteries are included. If you prefer a rechargeable model, we’ve also tested the SonicScrubber Rechargeable System below.

4

Best electric scrubber for bathrooms

Lakeland Bathroom Turbo Scrubber

What we like
  • Long or super long settings

  • Great for baths, shower screens and large areas

  • Would be useful for Velux, conservatories or high windows

  • Rounded, flat and pointed attachments let you get into every spot

What we don't like
  • Spray button and dispenser didn’t work on the scrubber we tested

Key specs

RRP at time of writing: £60 | Battery life: 1 hour per charge | Charge time: 4 hours | Brush heads included: 4 - Large dome, small dome, side brush attachment and flat brush attachment | Adjustable/telescopic handle: Yes | Weight: 890g | Waterproof rating: | Warranty: 3 years

Our verdict

Tested by Mumsnet home editor Poppy O’Neill: Read our in-depth Lakeland Turbo Scrubber Cordless Bathroom Cleaning Kit review.

While smaller handheld electric scrubbers are better for detail work, the Lakeland Bathroom Turbo Scrubber excels on reach and efficiency. Its brush heads include a large dome for bigger areas, while the long, adjustable handle makes it easier to clean high tiles, shower screens and window frames without clambering into the bath.

Our tester Poppy found the twist-and-click brush heads easy to change, even with wet hands, switching between the flat brush for tougher grime and the side brush attachment to reach around corners and edges.

The Lakeland Bathroom Turbo Scrubber made a visible difference to Poppy’s grout and limescale, though she still needed to wipe the surface with a cloth afterwards for a streak-free finish.

The built-in 50ml dispenser is designed to hold water or cleaning fluid, so you can spray as you scrub. Unfortunately, this didn’t work on our test model, but Poppy applied the cleaner directly to the surfaces instead.

Even on sale at £40, this scrubber’s quite an investment, but it could be worth it for larger bathrooms or cleaning at height. For taps, baths and detail work, Poppy recommends one of the smaller models above.

5

Best electric scrubber for kitchens

Lakeland Electric Cordless Scrubber

Top Tested
What we like
  • Strong waterproof rating

  • Short handle for applying pressure

  • Flat brush ideal for large areas like tiles, hob and sinks

What we don't like
  • No detail brush included

  • Stopped twice during testing, although it restarted immediately

Key specs

RRP at time of writing: £20 | Battery life: Up to 90 minutes | Charge time: 2.5 hours | Brush heads included: 4 - hook and loop head, a sponge brush, flat brush and a scouring brush | Adjustable/telescopic handle: No | Weight: 280g | Waterproof rating: IPX7 | Warranty: 3 years

I have one with a short handle - £20 from Lakeland, and it does a good job of doing round the sink, taps and cooker top, also give my worktops a scrub every now and then with it. Rechargable and holds it well.

Our verdict

Tested by Mumsnet home editor Poppy O’Neill: Read our in-depth Lakeland Electric Cordless Scrubber review.

If you’re constantly scrubbing food splatters, limescale and dried-on mess in the kitchen, the Lakeland Electric Cordless Scrubber can spare your wrists and cut down the elbow grease.

With four interchangeable brush heads, including a sponge and scourer, this cordless scrubber made light work of larger areas in Poppy’s bathroom and kitchen. It lifted limescale from her sink, residue from the hob and food spills from her splashbacks. The scourer attachment was particularly handy on dried-on mess.

Overall, this affordable model is a real time-saver. Its short handle makes it easy to apply extra pressure on stubborn stains, although it can get slippery when wet. The chunky design suits larger surfaces better than detail work, so it’s less effective in narrow grooves, grout lines and awkward tile corners.

6

Best electric scrubber for battery life

SonicScrubber Rechargeable System

What we like
  • Significant 3-hour run time

  • Good selection of small brush heads

  • Powerful scrubbing action

  • High performance on grout, limescale and awkward corners

  • High waterproof rating

What we don't like
  • Too small for cleaning larger surface areas

  • Paying a premium for the convenience of the rechargeable model

Key specs

RRP at time of writing: £25 | Battery life: 3 hours | Charge time: Unspecified | Brush heads included: Large, soft, cone and an all-purpose medium brush | Adjustable/telescopic handle: No | Weight: 410g | Waterproof rating: IPX7 | Warranty: 3-year manufacturer's guarantee

What Mumsnet users say

I had the Pink Stuff one, and it broke after about a month. Absolute rubbish. The genuine Sonic Scrubber costs a bit more, but so far ours has been going strong for over a year and is much more powerful than the pink one. It's not perfect for everything but is good for grout, window frames and around the taps- those sorts of jobs. It has four different brush heads, but it isn't big like the JML one with the handle, which might be better for floors and stuff.

Our verdict

Tested by Mumsnet home editor Poppy O’Neill: Read our in-depth Sonic Scrubber Rechargeable System review.

Responding to customer feedback, Sonic Scrubber released a rechargeable version of its original design. With handy USB-C charging, the SonicScrubber Rechargeable System provides up to three hours of runtime on a single charge, plenty for a thorough kitchen and bathroom clean.

At £10 more than the original model, with similar overall performance, you’re paying a premium for convenience. That said, Poppy loved the rechargeable design. Her scrubber lasted all afternoon on one charge and delivered consistent power without the hassle of replacing two AA batteries mid-clean.

Just like the battery-powered model, the SonicScrubber Rechargeable System performed well on grout, taps and limescale; however, for shower doors, wall tiles and splashbacks, you may prefer a scrubber with a larger brush head.

Are electric scrubbers worth it?

If you clean bathrooms or kitchens regularly, a decent electric scrubber can save time and effort. They’re handy for tougher jobs such as grout, limescale and baked-on grease, where scrubbing by hand takes longer and can be hard on your wrists.

What is the best electric scrubber for bathrooms?

The best electric scrubber for bathrooms will have a range of brush attachments and enough power to deal with limescale and soap scum. In testing, models with smaller precision heads performed better on grout and around fixtures, while larger heads were better suited to tiles and shower screens. For efficiency and size, the Lakeland Bathroom Turbo Scrubber is our top pick for bathrooms.

Which electric scrubber is best for grout?

If you’re cleaning grout, look for an electric scrubber with a narrow or pointed brush head and steady action. It’ll reach tight lines more easily and lift ingrained dirt without damaging the surrounding tiles. Both Sonic Scrubber models performed well in Mumsnet’s testing.

What should I look for when choosing the best electric scrubber?

When choosing an electric scrubber, consider what you’ll actually use it for. The best model will depend on whether you want something for quick clean-ups, more thorough jobs or detail cleaning. For larger sealed surfaces, one of the best steam cleaners may be a better fit.

Key things to check:

  • Strong, steady cleaning power

  • Good battery life

  • A good mix of attachments that are easy to switch and use

  • A grip that feels comfortable and a weight you can handle

Can electric scrubbers replace manual scrubbing?

Electric scrubbers cut down how much you need to scrub by hand, especially on larger areas or stubborn grime. You may need to tackle very tight or delicate spots yourself, particularly when using larger brush heads.

Are cordless electric scrubbers better?

Cordless models are more convenient and easier to handle, especially in bathrooms and around sinks. Most have enough battery life to get through a normal clean, which makes them practical for most households.
