Laura Brand, would you stand by your man? Trigger rape.

Russell Brand has been charged with 3 counts of rape, 3 counts of sexual assault and 1 count of indecent assault.
He was at court today for day 1 and his wife was there supporting him.
I’m not judging her it isn’t a situation I’d ever want to be in but it’s made me think… if the police knocked on my door and my husband was charged would I support him?
I don’t think I would, it must be hard if the man you’ve married has always been loving and respectful to you but I know for a fact how hard it is to get these cases to trial.

Wtf was he doing in the ladies toilet?

Scaring 20 year olds trying to get to the sink to wash their hands!

Waitingfordoggo · 17/10/2026 10:34

Re the discussion about Laura possibly having being coerced and controlled by him etc… I had forgotten until I read yesterday that when they first met, Laura was 18 and Brand was 31. The relationship was brief then but rekindled at a later date. I think it might be significant that those were their ages when they first met. I know that I was extremely naïve as an 18 year-old girl; perhaps Laura was too. That would certainly constitute a power imbalance in my eyes.

I have read the thread. There is a ‘lynch mob’ mentality’ around now which I find very worrying. Especially when it is celebrities involved.

Imagine reading the thread with its significant discussion of the concept of ‘innocent until proven guilty’ and then writing a post saying ‘Yeah but what about innocent until proven guilty?’

FateAmenableToChange · 17/10/2026 10:41

I would describe their relationship as grooming. So I’m not convinced she’s capable of seeing him objectively.

Autumngirl5 · 17/10/2026 10:56

Imagine twisting words and concepts to what you would like to hear.
’Innocent until proven guilty" (known legally as the presumption of innocence) means that any person accused of a crime is legally assumed to be innocent unless the state or prosecution proves their guilt.’

localnotail · 17/10/2026 11:05

He is revolting, and after reading one woman's experience with him: he was prancing around semi-naked before raping her, and she described his body as "snake like" and he was very heavy when he was on top of her so she could not get him off. There were also pictures he made her take before he raped her, and he looks gross, with weird hairless body and mad look in his eyes.

So I kind of wonder what sort of woman would willingly make him her husband. I doubt she did not know what he is like. She is probably on the same page as him regarding sexual behaviour.

Waitingfordoggo · 17/10/2026 11:10

Yes @Autumngirl5.

’a person accused of a crime is legally assumed to be innocent’

Legally is the operative word there. I am not involved in the case, and I assume no one posting here is. I am not a lawyer or the judge and I am not on the jury. I am not obliged to assume Brand is innocent.

Given your views, I assume you believe Jimmy Saville was innocent of the crimes he was accused of.

Yeah, like all the religious conversions that happen in prison/on death row.

If he is convicted how long do we think it will be before he declares himself a woman?

Profile of the fragrant Mrs Gallacher (doesn't seem to have taken his name)

https://www.standard.co.uk/showbiz/who-is-russell-brands-wife-laura-gallacher-b1300453.html

I get the feeling he handpicked her after assessing how easily manipulated she could be and how she could boost his image.

Lalgarh · 17/10/2026 12:23

That's actually a really interesting take

Autumngirl5 · 17/10/2026 12:29

We will never know for certain as he was never tried in court. I did have colleagues who worked in the same hospital and got to know him however.

mamaof4losingmymind · 17/10/2026 12:36

Shes not necessarily supporting him she perhaps wants to hear the truth

Ah forget about that poster. I tried with them but judging by their latest responses it’s clear they aren’t capable of intelligently discussing this.

They’re not engaging with the many points anyone’s about why it’s foolish to come on here effectively saying a legal principle means Mumsnetters can’t share an opinion on whether an unsavoury man accused by multiple women is guilty. 🤦🏽‍♀️

Well that’s a given. Men like that always choose easy to manipulate - and usually much younger - women.

It says on that article he’s never even changed a nappy for any of his kids. Wow so has he never taken them on a brief day trip somewhere himself without his wife being there?

I mean my old friend is a guy who works quite long hours and his wife is a SAHM but when the 2 kids were under 5 he would often take the kids to local places for a few hours on the weekend by himself . I’m sure he would’ve changed a nappy at least a few times by now.

Yep, there must be a lot of evidence.

My dh was part of a large potential court case recently, he was a victim of child / teenage sexual abuse by his teacher. Despite 6 people providing the same accounts, similar stories etc - all completely unrelated and unknown to each other and occurring at different times- the prosecution service said there wasn’t enough evidence for it to go to court. So it’s just been completely dropped (dh is okay with me posting about this btw). So for it to have got this far, with so many women, there must be a lot of compelling evidence for RB.

So sorry your dh has not seen justice served. Give him my love and a hug ❤

Thewonderfuldollypartonsbra · 17/10/2026 14:04

My brother is the same personality as RB-he has the same 'vibe' (I can't explain it very well)

On the surface,he's charming, little bit 'odd',can spin a good tale and isn't attractive in a conventional way (he's a lot of a dirty and scruffy hippy)

Scratch the surface,he's a woman hating, power hungry, cruel, narcissistic twat who's never been told 'no' by our narcissist mother (he's the golden child and genuinely believes he's one down from god as she wont allow him to believe different)

He genuinely believes he's the reincarnation of Jesus,Robin Hood and Merlin (all fictional characters but our mother stands there and proudly backs him up and goes mental at anyone who dares to point that fact out)

Over the years,he's been accused of all sorts (not rape but only because he does have others around to put the brakes on his behaviour) and is super charming and talks his way out of it ('oh that officer?she's mistaken') or our mother pays for the 'problem' to go away

He gets away with this shite time and time again just as RB has-he really thinks he's above the law

His time will come (im nc with him,hes a dangerous man,Andrew tate is his hero and im also nc with his enablers-my family and lots of his friends)

The women flock to him and will stand by him no matter what is said by the last one

But it's telling he's never had a good relationship and they all end up with the woman going to the police while he stands smirking with his new woman standing by him while simpering and cooing at him

Hes now 42 years old (almost 43) and has never had a relationship that's lasted longer than about 8 months-I said to dp that's because that's the time it takes for his mask to slip

Time and the law will catch up with him one day and I will guarantee that some woman will walk into the court, holding his hand and squealing about his 'innocence'

I don't get it but that's how it works

Basically came on to me. I was 20, in the girls loos by myself.

I said something like “erm, no thank you” and got out of there. What people maybe don’t notice is that he’s huge. Really tall, and although he looks slim he’s actually pretty well built.

And he’s got wild, Peter Sutcliff eyes

@PoweredBySheerSpite

glad you got out

OneoftheWeddingPeople · 17/10/2026 14:46

Absolutely disastrous to give this personality type legitimacy and a platform and access to women as these tv companies did.

cattussuperior · 17/10/2026 15:35

She may be in a coercive relationship now, but she can’t fail to have known what sort of person he was before she got involved. He was totally open about his addictions, his attitude to women and to sex. She chose to be in a relationship and have children with him.

The entitledness!

thebrowncatisback · 17/10/2026 16:04

Cant imagine marrying a man with his past

even before people knew he was a rapist, he was an open misogynist, drug addict, sec addict

that awful sachsgate incident

vile, vulgar and obscene stand up act

shes obviously some kind of nutbar herself

Ratcherinthepye · 17/10/2026 22:55

I agree @thebrowncatisback I get she was young the first time they dated, but the second time she was old enough and surely had enough time in the interim to break free from his spell or whatever and reflect on who he was.

I think often women get a pass for enabling and covering for male abusers.

I remember more or less leaving one friend group because it was so commonplace for the women to either be dating or befriending known abusive and frankly unhinged men. We were young, but mid 20s, so not that young! And I felt they should’ve known better.
Between that and all the other drama that predictably ensued from mixing with such people I decided to part ways. Interestingly at least a couple of those men were imprisoned for sexual offences a decade or so later.

thebrowncatisback · 18/10/2026 08:29

She must have been about 30 when they married?

her sister is famous, her dad was a pro golfer. She can’t have been that innocent or star struck around him

Maybe she’s just not a very nice person, just like him 🤷‍♀️

If you have a look at the video they posted this weekend on you tube, called ‘Sunday service’, it will probably give a good insight.
