Laura Brand, would you stand by your man? Trigger rape.

Russell Brand has been charged with 3 counts of rape, 3 counts of sexual assault and 1 count of indecent assault.
He was at court today for day 1 and his wife was there supporting him.
I’m not judging her it isn’t a situation I’d ever want to be in but it’s made me think… if the police knocked on my door and my husband was charged would I support him?
I don’t think I would, it must be hard if the man you’ve married has always been loving and respectful to you but I know for a fact how hard it is to get these cases to trial.

BBC has a terrible terrible track record. Hopefully things have changed

But Brand was on C4 for years. And MTV

Genevieva · 20/10/2026 15:05

I am a strong believer in marriage, so assuming they have a good marriage, yesI think she should stand by him regardless of his past behaviour. Besides, she knew what was marrying. I may bewaring, but I think rescuing him from a dark oblivion of drug and sex addiction was her project. It was obvious when he was on the BBC that he was off the rails and being hyped upper for viewing figures when he should have been in rehab, so I blame the BBC as much as Blame him for the bad experiences women around him had while he was working there. The BBC has a long and sordid track record of protecting the perpetrators of sex crimes. It is about time it faced real consequences.

GreenCaterpillarOnALeaf · 20/10/2026 12:27

Honestly I wouldn’t have married someone with the sexual history and reputation of Brand for a few reasons. Firstly I prefer to date (and now be married to) someone with a similar sexual history to myself - and I’m definitely no Russell Brand. Secondly, he doesn’t shut the fuck up and that would just drive me mad.

I do feel sorry for her. She has three kids with him, and he must be somewhat charming. I’ve read accounts from people who have met him and I know a few people who met him and they often say he’s got a weird charm to him. I’m not going to sit here and say she’s a mug, because she obviously saw something in him and loves him very much.

If that was my husband, with all that evidence against him I would probably have an absolute breakdown and snap and end up in a padded room.

He did. Katy P and he divorced her. Suspect she lacked Laura’s deference

There's only room for one egocentric narcissist in that marriage. He used to have a sidekick (forget his name) but part of the thing on his radio show was that he'd mention sometimes having a threesome with him and some random woman. Sidekick was very much the lesser of the 2 in that pairing (if it could be deemed a friendship) and his role was to laugh along as the admiring acolyte.

He later ended up doing his own Dad podcast type thing. He has a daughter now also only a few years off the age of one of the girls who was in the Dispatches documentary on Brand

thebrowncatisback · 20/10/2026 11:57

If Laura was my sister, i would be concerned for her wellbeing and safety but on balance, I would have to cut her out. No way would her husband be welcome in my home

thebrowncatisback · 20/10/2026 11:56

@Pedant61

not in this case. Or most cases of this nature. We have little faith in juries to deliver justice when it’s his word against hers.

The system is fundamentally flawed

savile was never even charged but we don’t think he’s innocent do we?

@Cherrytree86have you not seen it? She’s very quiet, nods along, no make up, dressing gown like him, gets spoken over. I just imagined he’d have married or set up with someone more outspoken, dramatic etc.

Imagine having to have them over for Christmas!

Edited

I just wouldn’t. I would totally distance myself from my sister if she behaved like that. Ewww

They both seem abhorrent weirdos no wish to watch them further. Would be gutted if my sister turned out like this - a peculiar handmaiden to a hideous man. Feel sorry for her family and of course their kids.

I’ve just watched the Sunday service out of morbid curiosity. She isn’t anything like I imagined his wife would be, weirdly. Not a clue what they are trying to achieve it was bizarre. Open chested dressing gowns, hanging light like a halo, references to the court case and Brand pretending to be a judge.

@TofuTuesday what is she like?

@Tinydanceer

totally

Tinydanceer · 18/10/2026 19:34

Also @Pedant61 i would not just assume my husband is not guilty with a record like Russel brand - I’d think he was guilty

but of course I wouldn’t marry a sex offender

thebrowncatisback · 18/10/2026 18:55

if a woman deserves to be raped by inviting a man to her hotel room; surely by the same logic, any man who goes to a woman’s hotel room is asking to be accused

Good point

I’m aghast at how many people want to campaign about his innocence - which is so very unlikely given it getting to court in the first place - it’s seems it’s only crimes of this nature that people seem to go on about applying the court process in the general sphere and see them as innocent instead of believing the multiple accusers

Tinydanceer · 18/10/2026 19:24

@Pedant61

no your wrong - you are guilty from the moment you commit the crime. You are taking a legal principle used in court and trying to apply it to reality - what do you think he he frozen in time until the verdict? Waiting on some precipice

if he did it he is guilty now and was from the immediate time he did it - the job of the court is to determine if there will be punishment and part of their LEGAL process is that the accused be treated AS IF innocent as part of that legal process, it has nothing to do with reality. As said the defendant is guilty the minute they commit the crime.

The legal principle isn’t applied in the social sphere - it’s for the court and some of the media - the judge and the jury

people don’t walk around innocent and o my become guilty when a court process is applied

the general public who are not judge jury or media eis free to think and intuit what they like based on what they know and they don’t have to wait - hence the discussion here

shoving his cock down someone’s throat until their mascara runs is an assault itself so we know he is already guilty of sexual assault

@Pedant61

if you did care to read more about it, you would know that his actions are abhorrent.

there is no way to prove anything. It’s his word against multiple victims and I believe the women

Pedant61 · 12/10/2026 22:42

I don't know enough about this case to comment on Laura Brand specifically.
But. If someone is charged with an offence, they are still innocent.... until they are found guilty. Equally, they may be found not guilty. How could we know until the court case was completed?
I would imagine that most wives would assume their husband to be Not Guilty, so of course they would support them.
It is disturbing how many people seem to think that an accusation automatically equals guilt.

Russell Brand has been 'hiding in plain sight' for many years, just like Jimmy Saville did. In his stand-up routines, he joked about enjoying blow jobs 'where their mascara runs a little bit'.

There are multiple allegations women and some famous women such as Katherine Ryan and Danii Minogue have spoken about his predatory sexual behaviour when they worked with him.

In Brand's case I think that fake and nauseating born-again Christianity, rather than patriotism, is the last refuge of a scoundrel.

He has three children and boasted that he'd never changed a nappy.

So many women have come forward and they all tell very similar stories. He's very rich though so can afford the best legal team so who knows whether justice will be done.

The social media comments on any post to do with this trial are so depressing. There seems to be a lot of people who believe inviting a man to your hotel room means you give up your right to consent or just changing your mind. I find it so fucked up that people think this way.

I know…it’s like asking what she was wearing

I hate it!

Their Sunday thingy is very poor taste

how dare they!

Tinydanceer · 18/10/2026 16:15

@Waterbaby41 he’s already guilty or not

the trial has no impact on that - it’s a legal process to determine punishment

if he’s done it he’s already guilty and has been for years
