Laura Brand, would you stand by your man? Trigger rape.

Russell Brand has been charged with 3 counts of rape, 3 counts of sexual assault and 1 count of indecent assault.
He was at court today for day 1 and his wife was there supporting him.
I’m not judging her it isn’t a situation I’d ever want to be in but it’s made me think… if the police knocked on my door and my husband was charged would I support him?
I don’t think I would, it must be hard if the man you’ve married has always been loving and respectful to you but I know for a fact how hard it is to get these cases to trial.

Whatever happened to innocent until proven guilty. He has not been found guilty of anything as yet.

And yet here he is, in the dock for MULTIPLE accusations of rape 😘

Getalittle · 14/10/2026 17:40

Yes this has been somewhat I’ve been wondering about too.

Back before all the allegations I followed Laura Brand on instagram and really enjoyed her joy journal craft book. Used lots of the ideas. She always kept a low profile and has never courted the lime light to the extent that most people wouldn’t recognise her as RBs wife.

fast forward to now she seems to have followed RB into the Christian faith. I watched their Sunday service video and in the one I watched he chastised her for talking too long, interrupted her, and then spent great lengths of time talking himself. He seemed considerate of her in some ways but completely unable to not be the centre of attention/the one speaking all the time. He seems really hard work and I feel quite sorry for LB as I believe it will have been difficult for her to navigate what’s happening now.

cheezncrackers · 14/10/2026 17:43

No, I wouldn't. But then, I wouldn't have married that disgusting creep Russell Brand in the first place!

Yet you didn't see Georgina Chapman for dust when the news about Harvey Weinstein broke - good on her.

That was damage control for her brand. She 100% knew about her husband's procilivites, but Hollywood isn't quite like the right wing grifting Christian circle. It takes a lot to get cancelled in Hollywood, but once it happens you're done. Georgina had to reinvent herself sharpish.

She's seeing Adrien Brody now

I can't remember if he was one of the "oh it couldn't POSSIBLY be him" signatories when the allegations about HW first came out

I saw them a few years ago at a festival. Laura was the one who had been booked as a speaker for the launch of her book. Russell did most of the speaking- kept interrupting her and cutting her off and then pretending to sheepishly apologise and ‘let’ her talk again before interrupting her again.

Yeah kind of cringey and unpleasant to watch. She seems like a really intelligent, creative woman as well.

I can really imagine that. He loves the sound of his own voice.

Dragononawagon · 14/10/2026 18:11

Any woman who chose to marry Russell Brand has surely shown her poor judgment LONG before any court case came knocking, but no. I wouldn’t have been there holding his hand.

user1464187087 · 14/10/2026 16:24

All the religious stuff does not look authentic. It is an act so that he can say to the court that he is a changed man. It's embarrassing to watch.

Yeah, like all the religious conversions that happen in prison/on death row.

allthingsinmoderation · 14/10/2026 18:13

It must be a horrible situation to be in for her.
If it were me and the allegations were before my relationship with him and he had never given me any indication to doubt him during our relationship. I would be guarded but reserve judgement until he was convicted of any offence.

holkhamhighkicks · 14/10/2026 18:14

No chance. He doesn’t deserve the support she’s giving.

allthingsinmoderation · 14/10/2026 18:15

TooBigForMyBoots · 13/10/2026 00:08

Only in the eyes of the law.

In reality, if someone is guilty of rape, they are guilty as soon as they rape somebody. They are not innocent of rape in the years it takes a court to find them guilty of it.

Rapists are guilty of rape the minute they rape someone.

Edited

Someone isn't guilty because they are accused though.
Its not Salem and you aren't guilty if someone accuses you, surely?

CleanShirt · 14/10/2026 18:19

NotPerfectlyAdverage · 12/10/2026 21:34

Its vanishingly hard to get a rape allegations past the CPS. Unless you've seen it first hand, I dont think you could even begin to belive how hard it is.

This. They need a vast, vast amount of evidence as well as being confident in a realistic prospect of conviction. It's a very risk adverse organisation.

variablesoutside · 14/10/2026 18:19

There’s a big difference between being charged and being convicted and honestly, I don’t think any of us would know what we’d do unless we were in that situation.

For me, if he were convicted, I’d probably really struggle with that. If he were convicted and there was really compelling evidence that he was innocent, different story. If I believed he was guilty then no, I couldn’t stay. If I knew he was guilty but had built a long life with him and I knew he was now a completely different person, maybe.

I think it’s easy to say ‘game over’ but when you have a deeply established life with someone (and children), it’s rarely that black and white.

Spidey66 · 14/10/2026 18:51

Russell Brand has always been a slimeball imho. Not that I’ve ever met him, just a gut feeling I’ve always had about him.

CloveRinse · 14/10/2026 19:05

For me, I read that the first dated (pre Katy Perry) when she was 19 and he was 31 before parting. Post Katy Perry divorce, they got together again.

With that history, and the number of allegations I would leave.

I understand why some people would stay but that initial predatory behaviour at the beginning would make me think the women are not lying and so I would leave. Especially if I had the financial means she does / has access to.

He was always prancing about declaring he was sex obsessed wasn’t he. I think it was his whole image at one point matted hair and over the top perviness

Myfluffyblanket · 14/10/2026 19:23

Even in his early years as a television personality I felt repulsed by him.
Later on during his stand-up shows he would talk hilariously and proudly about how he would get young unsuspecting women to perform sex acts on him. He particularly liked pushing too hard, causing them to gag and their eyes to water. He especially loved it when the tears would make their mascara run down their cheeks...' just like this'.
I believe the women so far. I believe he is entirely capable of rape and other serious sexual offences.
I could not stay with such a vile odious man.

No, they’re not (or rather, they might be and they might not be. An accusation in itself does not necessarily mean someone is guilty, obviously).

The legal process is designed to be as fair as possible and it’s designed to ascertain the truth. (It isn’t always successful).

But that doesn’t mean that no one can or does have an opinion until the court has decided. I’m assuming that you believe that Jimmy Saville was guilty of multiple offendes, despite never having been found guilty by a legal process?

Saville was an extreme, obviously; I’ve never met anyone who doesn’t believe he was a prolific paedophile and abuser. Other cases divide opinion; Lucy Letby for example.

People will have opinions based on their own perception of the accused person, and the evidence that they have personally seen or heard.

I agree that people will have their opinion on the guilt or innocence before or after a trial. I think it unwise to speculate during a trial as it could be contempt of court and jeopardise a fair trial .
I have my opinions on Jimmy Saville and Lucy Letby as many others do and am happy to voice them as they aren't on trial at present.
I think Jimmy Saville was guilty (my grandfather knew him and i trusted his judgement) and am unsure about Lucy Letby and am awaiting due process to decide what my opinion is.

Schrodinger-esque, that’s exactly it @ElectoralControversy ! Like you can only believe something about someone if a court has decided it. That’s just not real life is it? Lots of people believe the Michael Jackson allegations (me included), despite his acquittal, just based on the allegations themselves, and MJ’s own public words and behaviour.

Edited

Yeah. There are many people who were never found guilty of a crime, often not even prosecuted for one, that people are happy to accept as guilty: Saville; Hitler; Stalin; Bin Laden...

Pedant61 · 12/10/2026 22:42

I don't know enough about this case to comment on Laura Brand specifically.
But. If someone is charged with an offence, they are still innocent.... until they are found guilty. Equally, they may be found not guilty. How could we know until the court case was completed?
I would imagine that most wives would assume their husband to be Not Guilty, so of course they would support them.
It is disturbing how many people seem to think that an accusation automatically equals guilt.

Innocent until proven guilty is a legal principle, not a social one. If you commit a crime, you are guilty from the moment you did it. You don't get a free pass until 12 strangers say that you did it. He's been a high profile shagger for decades and the allegations against him have been piling up for years. We don't need the CPS, the police or one highly skilled advocate to tell us what Russell Brand is.

Lalgarh · 15/10/2026 09:37

I realise I shouldn't be looking at Reddit for sane opinion but there are people on there seriously claiming all (men) accused of rape are set up and citing some ruling from the Scottish supreme court that rape trials undermine defendants right to a fair trial because of the use of multiple cases. And also that This Is All The Fault of feminists complaining about low conviction rates which actually tells men that you can get away with it

Anyway this is the ruling

Bogstandardname · 15/10/2026 09:43

No never. He must have put himself in a situation where rape could have happened in the first place.
