Laura Brand, would you stand by your man? Trigger rape.

Russell Brand has been charged with 3 counts of rape, 3 counts of sexual assault and 1 count of indecent assault.
He was at court today for day 1 and his wife was there supporting him.
I’m not judging her it isn’t a situation I’d ever want to be in but it’s made me think… if the police knocked on my door and my husband was charged would I support him?
I don’t think I would, it must be hard if the man you’ve married has always been loving and respectful to you but I know for a fact how hard it is to get these cases to trial.

I have often wondered whether she had left him in light of the allegations, so was very shocked to see her there supporting him yesterday. I wonder whether he coerced her into being there to make him look better? Like 'look my wife is standing by me, so I couldn't have done it'.
I also think that 6 different people coming forward with enough evidence for an actual trial is totally different to having one allegation with sketchy evidence.
(Am I right in thinking it was more than 6 people who came forward, but the 6 assaults he is accused of are ones for which there is substantial evidence? I could be wrong here).
Anyway, he is extremely manipulative and controlling and to me it looks like she's under his spell completely. I saw a story on Intagram today on Lalaletmeexplain and it’s a video he posted yesterday, (on the first day of his trial!) of him and Laura discussing Noahs Ark being real and she's talking with such passion about it.
I had wondered whether she'd followed him into this 'I love Jesus all of a sudden' narrative or not, and this answers my question

Like others have said, rapists get not guilty verdicts all the time, even when the evidence shows otherwise (the case of the young boys raping the girl in the woods and filming it comes to mind). So a not guilty verdict doesn't mean he hasn't done it.
She knows him well, she met him during his hedonistic times so knows what he's capable of. I don't think she's doing herself any favours standing by him, and I would love to know what her sister Kirsty Gallagher makes of it all as she seems very down to earth

Didn't Bare Grills baptise RB fairly recently. Not good for his image of RB convicted.

dustabsorber · 13/10/2026 16:19

Also, if the CPP get a guilty verdict, they will be able to bring other weaker cases because the burden of proof will be lowered.

WhatDoRacoonsSay · 13/10/2026 16:22

Absolutely not, but then this has been known for a long time, longer than she's been with him so she clearly doesn't care.

TofuTuesday · 13/10/2026 17:22

I just assumed he was a massive shagger and a bit of a twat way back when he first was everywhere so I think she possibly went in thinking that’s what he’s like and these people are making it up/rewriting it for some reason.

Cherrytree86 · 13/10/2026 20:39

He’s vile. Absolutely no idea what she sees in him.

TaraRhu · 13/10/2026 21:42

I think she liked marrying into fame. Her sister is famous and a high achiever, her dad is a famous sportsman and she sold her soul to get her own fame. Now there's no going back.

I hope the women are believed.

I find his religious conversion highly suspicious. I suspect he genuinely doesn't think any girl would not consent to him.

VeganConvert · 14/10/2026 12:03

In my opinion all charges aside , he never made any attempt whatsoever to be anything other than this authentic self and seemed to be very open about his interests. It’s always been known he was at best a bit of a sex pest creepy child catcher who ate the thesaurus type so she must have a high threshold to have had anything to do with him in the first place.

to add by child catcher I mean the style of the character not a child predator.

I don't know enough about this case to comment on Laura Brand specifically.
But. If someone is charged with an offence, they are still innocent.... until they are found guilty. Equally, they may be found not guilty. How could we know until the court case was completed?
I would imagine that most wives would assume their husband to be Not Guilty, so of course they would support them.
It is disturbing how many people seem to think that an accusation automatically equals guilt.

Pedant61
It isn't just one accusation though.

Even if hes found guilty he will get a fine and community service at the most. He might be required to attend a perpetrators course only.

You don't know much about British law do you!

PhilomenaFitzFilopardi · 14/10/2026 16:13

But just because there are a number of accusations diesn’t make each one more likely to be true /there is the bandwagon effect which police encourage by asking more ‘victims ‘ to come forward. The way posters have decided in advance and are psyhcpanalysing his poor wife is despicable.
I wonder if theposters salivating on this thread will give the same attention to the trial of the four young men who were arrested for gang raping a woman today in Swindon less than a mile from a migrant hostel?
Nah, no sleb gossip in that one.

All the religious stuff does not look authentic. It is an act so that he can say to the court that he is a changed man. It's embarrassing to watch.

Defend Russell Brand if you must, but don't try and derail the thread because you hate migrants.

I think a lot also depends on why she’s still by his side.

I know two women with such little faith in the system that they outwardly stayed with their husbands because they felt their daughters were better protected that way than they would be in a split.

Given that her sister shared an agent with Brand and publicly said he was a great father after the nappy comment she may also not have the family support needed to leave a man like that.

If I thought my DH was predatory and dangerous I’d be doing what I thought would keep my children safe, and given the state of the family courts that might not be the obvious answer that folks would assume it would be.

JulietteRoche · 14/10/2026 16:38

Given that she married him in the first place, it is unsurprising that she is standing by him.

wishingonastar101 · 14/10/2026 16:43

I would just hide away somewhere with the kids and make my mind up away from the public view.
She is making a strong statement by supporting him publicly.

Jaxinabox · 14/10/2026 16:48

Everyone in TV knew. It wasn’t a secret. Her sister works in TV. His wife knows. She just chooses ‘not to know’. Sad but true.

Oh yes. The Nappy stuff.

The comedian caused controversy last week after an interview with The Sunday Times when he revealed that the hadn’t looked after his children for an extended period of time, and didn’t help change the tots nappies.

The comedian has revealed that he doesn’t do much in the way of nitty gritty parenting when it comes to his two kids – because his wife is just so good at it.

The 43-year-old, who shares daughters Mabel, two, and Peggy, six months, with his other half Laura Gallacher said he’s no good at changing nappies.

The self-professed former womaniser told The Sunday Times: ‘Yes, I am very, very focused on the mystical connotations of Mabel’s beauty and grace. Not so good on the nappies and making sure they eat food.

‘When I looked after Mabel on her own, she dropped two social classes in an hour. In no time at all, we’re in a coffee shop, she’s just got a nappy on and she’s covered in stuff because I’m not willing to fight any of the battles.’

I think there was more stuff on the Ladeeez having innate spiritual affinity with nappy changing. I was able to access Twitter then and I remember at the time , this being 2 years after #MeToo, LOTS of chat like "just wait till it all comes out about him.." from several men in the fringes of the industry

Yet you didn't see Georgina Chapman for dust when the news about Harvey Weinstein broke - good on her.

The burden of proof in criminal cases is always beyond reasonable doubt, that never changes.

Yep. “In addition, Russell hasn’t looked after his babies for longer than 24 hours, and jokes it’s because his wife ‘respects and cares for their safety too much.’”

Kirsty came out publicly in support of him after that and praised him as a father.

If the police came knocking then my first instinct would be that there must be some mistakes. It would be a very slow realisation but I'd eventually understand the evidence and pull back. It's an awful situation for any family member. That said you choose your partner and I wouldn't choose a man who had a sex addiction or had slept with 100s of women. She may not have known all his past but she would have known some things. So probably doesnt have much of a moral compass herself. I don't know much about him but even before these allegations he is not the type of man I would associate with.
