AIBU to feel gutted after seven weeks of silence from husband?

Long story short.
Had argument with husband now silence and no communication for 7 weeks other than me questioning him ( via text) about female he liked/ ❤️ photo on Facebook.

He said it’s childhood friend’s sister who also was like a sister to him.
Not heard of her in 18 years.

Also, he deleted me off social media.

AIBU to be gutted, disappointed and disheartened?

Assuming you share a home with this charmer, I would not describe him as your husband. Just a dickhead roommate who doesn't like you.

AnneLovesGilbert · 17/07/2026 16:55

LTB.

malloryknox123 · 17/07/2026 16:55

You haven’t spoken to your husband for seven weeks?

Devilsmommy · 17/07/2026 16:56

He's a complete cunt to do that to you. Silent treatment is emotional abuse. I'd tell him to go be a sulky twat somewhere else because I'm not putting up with that shit

Justplottinglaong · 17/07/2026 16:57

Tried to but there’s no engagement

Your not being unreasonable OP never mind a childhood friend he sounds like he's behaving like he is still in is childhood,he needs to get a grip and stop behaving like a man child.

Mom2K · 17/07/2026 16:58

LTB.

I don't say that flippantly. Stonewalling is emotional abuse. Find your anger and leave, you do not deserve this.

MissMoneyFairy · 17/07/2026 16:58

Don't bother trying to talk or text this idiot, are you still living in the same house, and children.

So meet with a lawyer and get the divorce rolling. Serve papers. Then don't engage with him because you can now be free of this BS.

Bigtrapeze · 17/07/2026 17:00

OP, do you think the relationship is over? How long would you let this persist before you do? Very kindly, it is irrelevant what you have fallen out about. If he isn't speaking to you that is a problem in itself, isn't it?

firstofallimadelight · 17/07/2026 17:01

Sit down and tell him you need to talk things through. If he refuses make plans to end the relationship.

BreakingBroken · 17/07/2026 17:02

what a joke, sorry i would be seeking legal advice after 24 hours.
why are you putting up with this?

Yes, living together, but the past weeks he lives downstairs and I’m upstairs.
we have two almost adults kids and 1 2yo.

Husbands who love and respect their wives don’t behave like this.

if he doesn’t want to engage with you, well. Let him fend for himself

ShetlandishMum · 17/07/2026 17:05

Legal advice. Divorce. Move on.

How easy would it be to move on, housing/job wise?

MyHorseAndMe · 17/07/2026 17:15

I’d kick off divorce proceedings. He’s an abusive arsehole and you’ll be well rid of him

Amazonjaunt · 17/07/2026 17:15

Wow. I’m sorry, but I think this marriage is over.

whippersnapper55 · 17/07/2026 17:26

Oh this would be over for me! 7 weeks? Time to speak to a solicitor and make some decisions about your future.

shoesandshipsandsealingwax · 17/07/2026 17:33

Why have you put up with this bollocks for nearly 2 months?

ShutupLwren · 17/07/2026 17:42

What the fuck?!
Please get your ducks in a row. Please.
This must be crushing you and it’s what he wants. I knew a couple like this, it was actually the wife who’d just pick an argument and ignore her DH for months. His life was shit. Please leave.

emmas123 · 17/07/2026 17:50

7 weeks is wholly out of order. 2 days would be breaking point for me (which would essentially be me telling DH to grow up and use his words like an adult, if he ever pulled that). As others have said, on the level you're describing this is emotional abuse.
The social media thing is also of concern - I know I'm at risk of sounding dramatic, but that sounds like he's possibly laying the groundwork of either an emotional or full-on affair.

sittingonabeach · 17/07/2026 17:52

There is no way your DC won’t have noticed his behaviour

AttilaTheMeerkat · 17/07/2026 17:54

How can you be helped into leaving your abuser?

Both your children and you deserve better that what you have described.

TFImBackIn · 17/07/2026 17:55

I reckon he's up to no good and can't justify his behaviour, so he's ignoring you in the hope you'll think it's all your fault and will apologise to him.
