It’s rife and embedded generally. It comes from other politicians and backed by the media. It’s up to those at the top to realise what impact their words have.

Which politicians do you mean? Farage?

Polanski? Abbott?

Obviously the political rhetoric that leads to the violence against Ann Widdecombe.

Obviously the political rhetoric that leads to the violence against Ann Widdecombe.

Which politicians though? I haven't seen any advocating for violence, either left or right. Far right is another matter. Farage laughed at an attack on a woman and also of course there is the issue of the "Farage riots".

Lalgarh · 20/10/2026 08:46

It looks like the suspect in the attack on Australian MP Helen Haines was self described as an environmentalist. His father has said Haines was a family friend

More anti Israel rhetoric leading to violence. This poor woman has now had her life radically changed for what? Does atracking women change the outcomes to anything these unhinged men aren't happy with?

The standard thing that leftish progressive anti imperialists will say, and this is BC it's one I've heard a Lot, is the a riot is the voice of the unheard.

Obviously this didn't apply to the riots in 2024 after the Southport murders. That was different.

It's also why when the right started using the playbook of the left, ie the "2 tier Kier" jibe to suggest policing was unfavorable to those in the non ethnic minority population, it was particularly triggering for a lot of people to see their policy positions retooled and used against them.

Where has Farage advocated for violence? Also, you're on a thread where Ann Widdecombe has lost her life through hard left violence. I don't know why you're trying to shift this to a far right issue. Farage is also a victim of death threats.

Losing a leg and in danger of losing her other one. It's just so senseless but as you say, this irrational hatred is so deeply entrenched now. The riots in France are throwing more light on just how quickly political violence can take hold but I'm getting tired of it being claimed to be a far right issue, Eastern.

The man accused of murdering Ann Widdecombe has been charged with engaging in conduct in preparation of acts of terrorism including against Nigel Farage.

From the Guardian, in case any poster has a prejudice against other news outlets.

What has happened in Australia is horrific as was, obviously, the murder of Anne Widdicombe. I am not trying to shift blame. Of course there are extremists on the far left as well as the far right.

I just wondered which politicians @EasternStandard had in mind when she said the sort of stirring she was talking about "comes from other politicians."

Do you think posting "Farage riots" on a thread about the murder of someone linked to Reform helps or adds fuel to the fire?
This thread is about the brutal murder of a woman linked to Reform.

Well I've given you one name and that's Diane Abbott. She's a big stirrer of racial division. Then there's Jeremy Corbyn, the Jew hater, who advocates for the safety and cohesion of anywhere but Britain and her allies, including Israel. Obviously I am not speaking for @EasternStandard but I agree with her the stirring is across the political spectrum.

It is also about political violence in general, especially against women, isn't it? Lalgarh bumped the thread with the terrible attack on Helen Haines.

It’s pretty broad. It’s heightened rhetoric that leads someone like the perpetrator believing there’s a danger that requires violence. It’s awful to see.

In Australia the female MP, the hammer attack on the policewoman, Ann Widdecombe. Men against women acting due to the environment some politicians and the media have pushed. They’re concerned about their jobs and a very big question over power.

The heckler at the Reform conference was comprehensively discussed on MN; It's not relevant here. As is more Farage bashing.

Thanks for replying. I may not agree with you, but at least you are upfront in naming names!

Nuthatch26 · 20/10/2026 10:25

Yes another politician hurt. Since the awful murder of Labour MP Jo Cox, we've seen the murder of David Amess, Trump was shot and was lucky to live, the murder of Charlie Kirk, the murder of Ann Widdecombe, and now Helen Haines has suffered life changing injuries.

There was also the thwarted murder plot to kill then Rosemary Cooper MP for West Lancashire back around 2019. He was being investigated for CSA by a woman police officer whom he was also plotting to murder.
Women are hated whatever their political background.

I made that post over three months ago, before Kerry was charged. I haven't seen anyone on this thread posting in the way yiu describe.

Could you be more specific? The question to your post was which politicians. Political Rhetoric isn't a politician.

Legitimate criticism against Farage and his political viewpoint, and millions of pounds in donations should never be described as "Farage bashing".

It is when it's carried out in a rabid frenzy, thread after thread. this thread isn't about Farage, once again. Unless you want to express your concern that another politician is being threatened with his life.
