Make Britain unaffordable (it already is for too many) so that it will be too unpleasant for foreigners who might wish to come here? But you'll then be making it unpleasant and unaffordable for the British too! Do you want to turn Britain into a third world counrry just so that it won't be an attraction for people escaping third world countries?

And many working-age people who receive UC ARE working: they just aren't getting paid enough to pay for their living costs, especially rent. So UC is subsidizing low-paying employers and high-charging landlords: not something likely to change in a hurry. The recipients are not idlers; quite a few of them are in the categories that were regarded as 'essential key workers' during the pandemic.

Extremists, I suppose. There is a lot of similarity between many on the far right and the far left.

I would have added to the discussion but as I was reading the interesting points made on both side, I saw it turned nasty. That is why so few people are disagreeing with your points. Not because everyone agrees with you. About 50% of people voting in the poll agree with @CoventryCity so far, with a sample size of nearly 290 people.

It would be an insult to left wingers to say they are left wing as most left wingers are more moderate in their views and have no interest in stirring up hate and division. So I would lump them in the "extremist" category, along with those on the extreme end of right wing politics.

Though why you are bringing in "compassion" @RedTagAlan when the question was about "those on the left who are stirring up hate and division" I have no idea.
