AIBU to believe Charles Spencer after watching this BBC clip?

These things can stay bottled in you and explode one day. Spencer is probably thinking why let the RF control the narrative. They made his sister’s life hell.

The one thing I agree with Charlie Spencer is that Harry and his family should have security because Harry is ex military and the son of a king.

I believe him and I also agree Harry should have security. I thought Charles Spencer came across as rational and didn't seem like he was making it up.

I wonder if Charles said something like, " well one day we'll all move forward and all this will be forgotten," rather than, "We will soon forget her?" In an emotionally charged situation you could imagine how nuance could be misinterpreted. Also, CW was probably not the most adept at self-expression in emotional situations. I don't know.

I do believe him because why would he lie? And it does sound like the sort of thing King Charles would say in a fit of rage (I do like him BTW, just being realistic about his shortcomings).

Charles Spencer is not a pleasant man and has an expensive divorce to fund, so if the choice was between publishing this hurtful memoir or selling a Renoir, I can see why this was his choice.

Given the lineage, I suspect we have more reasons than we will ever know to be thankful to the current POW for her influence over our next two kings.

I just watched the whole interview. I enjoyed it and he came across very well. I doubt there’s more perceived criticism of Charles in the book other than what’s been disclosed.

to his nephews (that he promised to protect)
and if there was ANY truth in it, Spencer would have spouted it at the time.
He wants money for all the women HE has mistreated (four wives) and seven children plus his estate ......

So many of the Royal Family and Diana's family are just awful. (Well, her brother and deceased parents.) William and Kate are blessedly normal. So many of the generation above them are just rotten. Apart from the obvious, like Prince Andrew, Princess Michael is a pure old-fasioned Nazi from another era, and I can't believe she wore a Blackamoor brooch to meet Meghan.

It will be a good day for the monarchy when William and Kate come to the throne.

It would be such a terrible thing to say that I did wonder if something was misheard or misinterpreted down the phone. I have to say, though, not only does Spencer seem very credible, Richard Kay says it chimes with his recollections at the time. It's also notable that although the Palace put out a statement, said statement did not deny that he said it.

If he did say it, then that is beyond appalling and he deserves to have it come out. It would be despicable enough to say it to a third-party, such as a courtier, say, or privately to his own family, but to say it to the deceased's BROTHER! 😱

If Charles did say it, I reckon Diana would be doing a happy dance wherever she is.

Add in to that he can never do anything without being filmed / photographed / or quoted. No possibility of retiring, or stepping down from the role, like a Prime Minister could, for example.

Honestly that poster is wrong. Charles Spencer has sold paintings before from his private art collection worth an estimated £85 million. He has an estimated £40 million in liquid assets. This is not about money.

Well exactly. For all of his talk at Diana's funeral of blood family and protecting his nephews, his own personal life is a car crash. Isn’t he on wife no 4, following 3 divorces? 2 of his ex wives have accused him of cruelty and emotional torture, his first wife became anorexic and claimed that he constantly accused her of being fat, having given birth to 4 children. 2 of those children have now married and he wasn’t even invited to their weddings. To not be invited to one of your children’s weddings would be unusual. To not be invited to two is extraordinary. Burrell and Spencer seem to be two of the most toxic people in Diana’s short life. None of which excuses the now King’s stupidity in marrying her in the first place… If this was being played out on the Jeremy Kyle show people would, rightly, be rolling their eyes :)

Maybe once Spencer admits how many wives and affairs he has had (whilst one wife was pregnant), how his daughter didn't want him at her wedding ... I wonder what his wives would say about him....

They are certainly stupid enough to think that smearing will work - rather than digging a deeper hole .

The princes are well into adulthood. Perhaps thats why this is coming out now rather than 30 years ago?
