To feel angry that some people can’t accept sometimes accidents happen? (Title edited by MNHQ to avoid any confusion)

I’m not really sure if this is an AIBR/AIBU but sometimes I see things online/in the local news and people forget that sometimes accidents DO happen which end up with an awful outcome? Do we live in a country now where we will always question things (which I understand), but even those that appear to be logically understandable.

Will we ever manage to balance that intense narrative that everything is ok to the other where everything is planned/sinister? I am so glad we live in a world we can speak freely, but I fear we are starting to overanalyse everything.

(I’m only asking this because I have small children and I’m curious to know how things may go)

(I need to add this is nothing to do with anything s*xual or children being vulnerable in any form, that is not what this post is about)

I believe the vast majority of people who publicly comment on online news articles etc. are generally quite dense. People lack emotional intelligence and critical thinking. There is no nuance in discussions.

Re: this relating to the poor little boy Noah, it’s these types of dense people who turn tragic events into conspiracies and look for someone to “blame” to project their anger towards.

Re: this relating to the poor little boy Noah, it’s these types of dense people who turn tragic events into conspiracies and look for someone to “blame” to project their anger towards.

Is it ridiculous to say I didn’t quite realise how many dense people there are in this country? Until this happened & I started to pay attention

The poor little 3yo boy Noah Woods who went missing in Suffolk yesterday, and was sadly found dead today.

The hysteria online from people conspiring that “there must be more to this” “the dad’s online statement is suspicious” “how can an adult let a 3 year old run away and not catch them up” etc etc it has been relentless on Facebook and X/Twitter. That’s what I assume OP is referring to. Not accents. Accidents.

@Ace56the story about Noah triggered my thoughts again yes, but I have had things in life lately, big and small, where it seems that there can be no acceptance that accidents happen. For example if my son gets hurt at school or some other child does there is always mum whispers and an overanalyses of things or it gets pushed under the rug. It feels like when we face something it means there’s someone to blame/a reason why & if there isn’t now people are too scared to be honest because they are scared of that if they say sorry it means they’ve done something wrong

Although in the UK accents do happen.
Accidents are carelessness with no intent of harm.
Parental carelessness is always a very poor excuse.

Oh my goodness thank you for pointing this out bluntly, I’ve been so caught up in everything else I didn’t even see this.

But do you not feel accidents with carelessness can lean into the ‘parental’ carelessness?

I think people want someone to blame because it then makes it preventable. If it’s preventable then they can do something to ensure it doesn’t happen to them or someone they love. They don’t want to accept the reality that sometimes shit things happen and it wasn’t foreseeable and nobody is to blame. If they accept that reality they then have to confront the possibility that it could become their reality.

There really are no accidents; poorly maintained planes fall but it’s due to carelessness. Children run into traffic but this is carelessness as it’s a well known issue. People drown but again not learning how to swim is careless.

I remember Sheena Easton well! She was quite big in the Eighties. And the funny thing is that every time Posh Spice had short dark hair, she totally reminded me of Sheena Easton! It was the exact same look!

You do get some really freak accidents, though. Wish I could think of an example off the top of my head!

Well as someone who clicked on this thread hoping for a lighthearted discussion about regional accents, colour me disappointed.
