To think that Harry and his kids should have security

Frankly I don’t want another year of wondering if Harry will attend another event or stay in a palace or will or will not get security etc.

For the sake of our sanity the matter needs to be resolved.

Harry could become a working royal and Meghan could go back to being an actress - they are then both happy

Harry and the kids get protection and Meghan can pay for her own

If Harry and the PoW could make up it would make next year much better ( 30 year anniversary)

Meghan needs to stop trading ( in my opinion) on the memory of Diana ( if it is true she wanted to do a speech re Diana etc) Leave Diana to the boys only.

There are innocent children involved and they do need protecting.

Harry needs to change his attitude and stop fighting the system for the sake of the nations sanity. Meghan has to realise that she upset many of us re the courtesy thing etc and the attack on the POW and POW.

The POW needs to realise that Harry can’t steal his thunder.

Everyone needs to think of King Charles who frankly needs to have a break from all this.

I am not a Meghan supporter or a bot. I just can’t bear another 3 months of frenzied speculation. My head is done in.

I don’t think anyone’s ever seen actual facial pictures of the Sussex children, have they?

RealFlawless · 15/09/2026 16:34

I agree, OP. I'm not a fan of Harry particularly but the security threat is because he's the king's son, not because he is or isn't working. Security isn't a perk, it's a necessity.

It's also a pretty substantial risk to the country if Harry's family are at risk of eg kidnap- that would be a horrific situation politically (as well as obviously personally). Giving him back his previous level of security would be extremely cheap in comparison.

RobinHumphries · 15/09/2026 16:39

He can have his own security. He just needs to get a job and fund it himself like any other person

But if there was a genuine threat of say kidnap they would be provided with armed security until it was neutralised.

AcquadiP · 15/09/2026 16:41

H&M can pay for as much security as they like but it won't be armed unless RAVEC deem this necessary, which so far they haven't. Harry has taken this matter to court and lost his case in The Court of Appeal in 2025. Just because Harry thinks he needs armed security doesn't mean he actually does. Zara and Mike Tindall manage perfectly well without it as do Elton John and David Furnish, George and Amal Clooney, the Beckhams etc etc.

fridaynightzzz · 15/09/2026 16:43

A&L might be the monarchs grandchildren, but once so were Andrews, Anne’s and Edward’s children. I don’t think anyone thought they were the greatest security risk.
In a few years they will be the Monarchs niece and nephew and then their cousin. There would be far less of a security risk if they thought of that and prepared them that way. Margaret handled this extremely well especially as the ‘spare’

RedSnail1 · 15/09/2026 16:43

They knew the implications when they decided to leave the royal family, they had made enough money off the back of it, books and Netflix series.

If they were really that worried about their safety, why come back to the UK in the first place?

The issue is whether he has police protection. That's a different level of security from paying for your own security guard.

You don't think there are terrorists who'd love to kidnap those children?

I think people let their irritation with Harry (which I somewhat share) affect the view of the risks. He's quite annoying. He's also an extremely high profile and politically sensitive target.

I just think people think there is more risk than there really is.

The risk is more likely to Harry himself then his children and again it’s been back and forth to court who have stated if and when it’s needed he will get it but his current risk level doesn’t require it.

Same. That post seems to overstate his risk.

JustAnotherWhinger · 15/09/2026 16:52

They should get the security RAVEC feel they require. They are the experts.

Nobody should get security based on how much press attention their antics get and how annoying people find that.

Didimum · 15/09/2026 16:54

Holeymoley28 · 15/09/2026 16:26

The video she posted on the lake gave away their location. For a couple talking about keeping children offline and safety on the net enough is posted to locate them from landmarks such as the bridge on the lake.

That still has nothing to do with the children being in need of armed security – their mother posting photographs is not their choice, being in or out of the royal family is not their choice.

And what difference does it make, especially to the above, if Megan did inadvertently reveal a hint to their geographic location? They were never going to keep the location private for any meaningful length of time. It would be impossible to.

Do you really think if there was an immediate, genuine threat to him or his kids RAVEC would see it and say “not our problem?”

They’d have more security if the risk is there.

Just as an increase in threat would see Princess Anne’s security stepped up, or Zara Philips receiving security for a period of a specific threat was there. In exactly the same way in the big review they were able to step down the 24 hours security they all had (in very large part due to the Good Friday agreement).

I received police protection while I was a witness in a court case. I don’t have it now as it’s not needed. The people that judge the threat and plan security levels know what they are doing.

Why do two children that most people
don’t know what they look like need armed security 24/7.

When their own parents haven’t been deemed a big enough risk to need it?

That’s the point. The risk is assessed I’d assume now they live here again on a daily basis. If they need it they will get it. But that doesn’t mean they need it 24/7.

KeyboardMonkey · 15/09/2026 17:10

There's nothing stopping 'Harry' from paying for as much security as he wants, given that he seems to think he needs more than anyone else. I'm not paying for it, though. He's a multi-millionaire.

He doesn't represent the UK - although he does embarrass the UK - why would we be using tax money on him or giving him scarce resources from the Met Police? He can pay for his own goons, not ponce off British taxpayers.

And if he thinks that unlike anyone else at the same state security risk level - i.e. not particularly high - should get road closures and armed police guarding him, like an actual Head of State, he needs a fucking reality check.

People don't get paid-for protection by the state because they are paranoid. He - and his spouse - seem to actually want to attract a security incident by constantly breaking all the genuine rules for keeping your family safe that other well-known people abide by without fuss. He doesn't need us to pay his security, he needs mental health treatment.

Anyone who believed their children were at high risk would try to get the highest possible protection for them. That's how being a parent works. Since he has offered to pay for the armed protection himself, I can't blame him for trying to secure it.

And I didn't say I think they needed 24/7 security, I said I think they needed armed security.

So when would they require armed security if not when the actual security services that know the risks deem it or 24/7?

We can’t just have people paying to hire armed police basically it’s either based on need or you open it to everyone who has enough money.

I think need is the best spot not want need.

beetabeatrix · 15/09/2026 17:17

Why should the tax payer pay? The royal family should cover all their own security costs out of their billions.

I'm not here to deliberate 'when' or 'how much', I have only ever answered on this thread that I think they need armed security – and, as I've said several times, it isn't solely due to the fact that Harry can pay for it, it's because the children are members of the royal family AND 6th/7th in succession. Have the 'when' or 'how much' discussion with someone else who's arguing that.

I have just pointed out that Harry has offered to pay for it because many, many people on this thread keep bleating 'well, he can pay for it then', and I am making it clear he has offered to.

So do you think they need 24/7 armed security? If not, then how would it work? Goons and outriders for the school run, and then the not needed for the rest of the time?

TonTonMacoute · 15/09/2026 17:42

Rhaidimiddim · 15/09/2026 12:47

You think giving H the things you mention will stop the circus? Because I don't. I think the demands and complaints would just continue, and could cause constitution-level disruption.

This.

Even if they got the state-funded security it would always be wrong, because it wasn't at the same level as Louis had, or Katherine's body guard was better looking, or H&M's body guard was too good looking so everyone was swooning over him not Meghan and on and on it would go, whining and whingeing.

They must be utterly exhausting to be around and I wish they had stayed in the US.

LittleWeasel · 15/09/2026 17:47

Why did they do a “moonlight flit” from California?

Where will their privacy tour take them next, as the school run traffic in the UK is just too much for them to stay in the UK.

I don't have an opinion on the 24/7 aspect. Perhaps argue that with someone who does.

VanessaSanessa · 15/09/2026 18:21

These two haven't been back a wet week and the amount of drama!

What they are doing back here is beyond me after their big flounce. Posting pictures of their location really is baffling when they think they are targets!

It all boils down to them believing H should be treated the very same as W and that he is just as special, a prince, a royal, Diana's son etc.

It must be exhausting to be them.

ShanghaiDiva · 15/09/2026 18:47

The fact they moved back is nonsensical. In the summer a visit was considered too dangerous and now they have relocated to the UK? Just baffling!
Moreover to allay their society fears why not move into somewhere where there is already a level of security - Kensington palace or Windsor Park?
