Feeling in control of your health is an empowering goal, and a good one as we head into a new year. Completing a thorough health assessment is an easy way to start and can help you to gain a deeper understanding of your current health and wellbeing and the next steps to take.

With Nuffield Health’s comprehensive 360 and 360+ health assessments, you can do just that. These in-depth health assessments provide a full overview of your general health, with a particular focus on key areas like cardiovascular health and personal fitness levels.

“A health assessment provides you dedicated time with two professionals”, explains Dr. Kim Goldin. “A Physiologist to go through a ‘know your numbers’ exercise which provides insight into key physiological measurements such as weight, blood pressure and basic blood results. In addition, everyone gets protected time with one of our GPs to talk through in depth their results, how best to make positive steps to an improved health and to talk about any other concerns on a patient’s mind. A health assessment provides the opportunity to take control of your health.”

During your assessment, you’ll have quality time with a Nuffield Health Doctor and/or a health and wellbeing Physiologist. They’ll discuss your results that are available on the day, as well as provide you with a detailed written report up to two weeks after your appointment.

I had a check with Nuffield and it was quite thorough tbh.

But the support doesn’t stop there - you’ll also receive a free 30 day gym pass to help you kickstart your journey to improved health. And, if you have any further tests or specialist referrals required, Nuffield Health’s doctors can guide you, whether that’s privately or through the NHS.

What’s included in Nuffield Health’s health assessment?

As well as all of the above already mentioned, Mumsnetters who opt for a 360 health assessment with Nuffield Health will gain an overview of their current health and wellbeing, identifying any common health issues like diabetes and high cholesterol.

You’ll have two hours for your assessment, during which your measurements like height, weight, BMI and body fat percentage will be taken. Your core pathology will be examined, including your urine, cholesterol, blood count, biochemistry, blood glucose and a bowel cancer test if you’re over the age of 45 years old.

Your heart and lungs will also be examined, including your blood pressure, resting ECG, your cardiovascular risk score and a chest x-ray if there are clinical indications you might need one.

For women, you can have a cervical smear if appropriate as well as pelvic and breast examinations, a high vaginal swab (if clinically indicated) as well as a thyroid function test if you’re over the age of 50+ and the option of a mammography**, too. On the other hand, male specific tests include testicular examination as well as a prostate cancer blood test if you’re over the age of 50 years old.

Unlike the 360 option, with the 360+, customers will have three hours with a Nuffield Health Doctor and a health and wellbeing Physiologist who will guide you through comprehensive tests, including a dynamic cardiovascular test that measures ECG and BP during activity or VO2 max.

The health and wellbeing physiologist will also conduct lifestyle risk stratification and will use the data to conduct a detailed lifestyle coaching session and create a personalised action plan.
