With the festive season fast approaching, you might be stuck for gift inspiration. With Klarna, there are several things to help you in the coming weeks. Not only can you use the in-app search tool to find great prices, deals and discounts on products - all at the click of a button - but you can also choose from a variety of interest free payment methods.*
*Klarna's Pay in 3/Pay in 30 days are unregulated credit agreements. Borrowing more than you can afford or paying late may negatively impact your financial status and ability to obtain credit. 18+, UK residents only. Subject to status. Ts&Cs and late fees apply.
Klarna offers you the flexibility of paying in three monthly instalments or in full after 30 days, meaning smaller, more manageable payments. Perfect for that present for a loved one or a much-needed item for the home. Plus, with zero interest you can have peace of mind that provided you pay on time, you’ll have no additional costs.
In fact, our Mumsnet community has found Klarna a valuable tool.
Hellhavenofury said recently: “I use Klarna for the reason being, if I need to send the item back, I can do it and not worry about getting refunds etc as it just gets taken off my Klarna account. If I get an item and I keep it, I just pay it straight away. It just removes the risk of not getting my money back for 2 weeks.”
Badg3r echoed this sentiment, adding: “I use Klarna so that I can pay after receipt of the item. I like that if I return something I am not out of pocket while they process the claim. I always choose the pay within 30 days option.”
For smarter festive season shopping with Klarna, the app offers four key features:
1. Search and compare
Christmas is a time of giving and receiving and it can be wonderful to treat our loved ones to a gift we know they’ll enjoy. The search tool in the Klarna app is so useful as it allows you to search for a product across a huge range of online retailers and high street brands to find available deals.
The filter options allow you to show the results in order of price - be that lowest to highest or the reverse - and you can even filter by colour, size, customer rating, store availability, delivery options and features to narrow down your search and help ensure you find great prices on products just what you’re looking for.
It also shows you how the price of the product has fluctuated recently, which means you can be savvy and decide whether you want to buy now or wait to see if you can snap up a better discount later.
Plus, any discount codes will be automatically applied at checkout so you can be assured that Klarna is helping you get a great deal.
We tried and tested this option at Mumsnet and were really impressed with the results. Read our full thoughts here.
One of our Mumsnet community said: “I searched for something around £100. It brought me to lots of sites where I was surprised how cheap I could find this item! The comparison tool was really helpful.”
Another added: “I liked that it showed you the price range of the item and where it was on the scale that day. It was good to find something specific you are looking for but not general shopping.”
2. Flexible payments
There are several ways to pay with Klarna. You can choose to buy an item now and pay immediately, or you can choose one of their interest-free, flexible payment options. The first option is to pay the full amount in 30 days, with no interest and zero fees provided you pay on time. Alternatively, you can spread the cost across three interest-free payments. Make the first of the payments on the day you purchase and the remaining two will be due every 30 days.
The app will send you timely reminders when your payments due dates are approaching or you can choose to pay the balance off early.
3. Setting budgets
As we’ve mentioned, Klarna never aims to encourage overspending but rather help you budget your hard-earned money by finding flexible and manageable ways to buy the things we need.
The app allows you to set a monthly budget to keep track of your spending goals and it will alert you when you’re approaching your limit.
4. Buyer’s protection
Offering you that extra peace of mind, Klarna also has a buyer protection policy.**
If you’ve failed to receive a product or it’s faulty, Klarna will pause the payment and help you resolve the issue. You may be eligible for a refund under Klarna’s Buyer Protection Policy if you have exercised all your abilities to recover from the store and Klarna will seek to help you.
If you report a return to Klarna with valid tracking information, they will pause the payment for 21 days to give the store or online retailer enough time to process it.
