Best family hotels in Antalya: top resorts and all-inclusive stays in Turkey

Fab family resorts, fun-filled waterparks and one of the best theme parks in Turkey make Antalya one of the most popular spots for a family holiday. If you’re wondering where to base yourself in this sunny slice of the Turkish Riviera, here are the family hotels and resorts that Mumsnetters love.

Pool beds at the Titanic Mardan hotel in Antalya

On the southern tip of the Turkish Riviera, Antalya is one of the most sought-after spots for family holidays in Turkey thanks to soft golden sands, warm seawater and 300 days of sunshine a year. But there's more to this corner than simply fly-and-flop hotels (although you'll find incredible accommodation options here), Antalya also enjoys dozens of fun family-friendly activities.

The region is rich in archaeological sites including the ancient city of Phaselis and the great Roman theatre of Aspendos. It’s also home to a handful of picture-perfect waterfalls that are easily accessible with young children. Older kids will love the variety of adventure activities offered, from rafting and zip lining at Koprulgu Canyon to paragliding at Mt. Olympos. And, if all else fails, guaranteed fun can be found at the Aqualand waterpark and nearby Land of Legends theme park.

Just got back from Lara Barut after seeing it mentioned on here and am about to rebook for next year, which I would never normally do.

Lara Barut if you're a foodie. Al a carte restaurants were amazing, like going out every night. Plus, some open for breakfast and lunch too. Plus the biggest and best buffet, I've ever seen.

Our verdict

Occupying a prime position along a long golden stretch of Blue Flag beach, Mumsnet-favourite the Lara Barut Collection is an enormous luxury offering with 10 restaurants, nine pools and oodles of kid-friendly activities including a fun-filled aqua park with water slides.

The rooms - there are 585 to choose from - are contemporary and bright, and overlook the lush gardens, sparkling pools or Mediterranean sea. For larger families, the Family Suites (including a swim-up option) sleep up to five people.

As you might expect with kid-friendly hotels in Antalya, the Lara Barut has a kids' club as well as a club for teens (the LOL Club). There are also dozens of sports facilities, direct beach access, lively evening entertainment and a dedicated movie night. And, if you can manage to drag yourself away, some of Antalya’s most popular sights, including the historic city of Aspendos, are nearby.

[I recommend] Royal Wings, Lara Beach. Duplex family room and a great water park

Our verdict

Be prepared to say goodbye to your kids when you check in to the five-star all-inclusive Royal Wings Hotel: there are so many kid-friendly activities that you might not see your offspring again until it's time to leave.

Top of the pops are the vast swimming pools and waterpark, featuring nine brightly coloured waterslides. There’s also a mini funfair, complete with Ferris wheel, and a kids’ club where cheerful staff lead activities including face painting, table games and colourful crafts.

Meanwhile, you can keep busy playing tennis or joining in a game of beach volleyball, followed by some well-deserved time in the spa. Alternatively, you may simply enjoy flopping on a sun lounger with a good book. End the day watching a show before retreating to your spacious Family Duplex Room for a good night’s sleep.

Mumsnet users love the spacious rooms here as well as the excellent on-site waterpark.

Nearest beach: The hotel is located a few metres from Lara Beach

Best for kids' clubs and activities

Club Med Palmiye

What we like
  • Childcare facilities are second to none, including a Baby Club for tiny tots aged 4 to 23 months

  • Club Med’s Circus School is a real highlight - for kids and their parents!

  • The layout and architecture make the resort feel far more intimate than many all-inclusives

What we don't like
  • It’s hard to find fault with this hotel, it really does tick all the boxes

Our verdict

Club Med has long known what makes a good all-inclusive holiday and the resort at Palmiye, south of Antalya, is easily one of the best Antalya beach hotels for families. Rather than one gargantuan hotel, the accommodation here consists of a collection of villas set among lemon trees and pine forests, on the edge of a long sandy beach.

There's the usual medley of sports on offer - everything from tennis and sailing to kayaking and daily yoga sessions - as well as horse riding excursions and circus school, including trapeze lessons for daredevils young and old. Children are extraordinarily well catered for with dedicated facilities and clubs for all ages from 4 months to 17 years old. Plus, there are kids' menus and treats in the restaurants.

If you can drag yourself away from the pool, beach or Spa by Sothys, then Club Med also arranges a handful of excursions to explore the local region from the ancient site of Phaselis to the Ottoman houses of Antalya.

Nearest beach: The hotel is located on the beach

Nearest airport: Antalya Airport (36 miles)

4

Best for restaurants

What we like
  • The six à la carte restaurants - and 16 snack bars - mean you'll never go hungry

  • The dreamy beachside setting with private cabanas and drinks service is wonderfully indulgent

  • There’s a lot of choice when it comes to nightly entertainment, whether you want to relax in one of the bars or party at the beach club

What we don't like
  • Some rooms have much better views than others so double check when booking.

More is more when it comes to the five-star Titanic Mardan Palace, a vast seafront property that enjoys its own private stretch of velvety sand on the Turkish Riviera. Everything about this luxury hotel, one of the best family hotels in Antalya, is made for ensuring that you have the perfect family holiday, whether that’s enjoying an afternoon treat at the ice cream bar, zipping down the slides at the aqua park or making new friends at the Tini Kids Club.

The family rooms are large and spacious, there are six swimming pools, six à la carte restaurants and a sublime spa, beautifully decorated with all manner of saunas, steam rooms and Turkish baths, as well as a range of pampering treatments. Sports facilities include everything from beach volley and football to tennis and basketball and, for golfers, the Cullinan Links Golf Club with two 18-hole courses, is close by.

Nearest beach: The hotel is located on its own private beach.

Nearest airport: Antalya Airport (15 miles)

5

Best with a theme park

What we like
  • Pure kiddie heaven with everything you need to ensure a fun family holiday

  • Unlimited access to the Land of Legends theme park is a big bonus

  • The variety of restaurants and delicious food

What we don't like
  • Fans of a more subdued design aesthetic might find the bold room designs a bit much!

For guaranteed family-fun look to The Land of Legends Kingdom, one of the best family-friendly resorts in Antalya. Located in Belek, a stone's throw from the Mediterranean Sea, the ritzy five-star hotel forms part of the mega theme park of the same name and is a magical place to stay that has been specifically designed for children.

The decor is colourful and bold with fairytale-inspired murals, giant play spaces, the world's largest bar for children and costumed performers seemingly around every corner. The rooms are equally bright and cheerful (no Scandi bland here), and they come in a variety of sizes to suit all families.

There's an award-winning spa, stylish restaurants and bars, a kids' club and Turkish bath but the real reason that you stay here is for the unlimited entry into The Land of Legends. This gargantuan theme park is justifiably one of the most popular attractions in Antalya, home to a water park, shopping avenue with night-time show and dozens of rides including the 62-metre-high Hyper Coaster.

Nearest beach: Complimentary access to the Rixos Premium Belek's sandy beach

Nearest airport: Antalya Airport, 15 miles

6

Best for multi-generational trips

What we like
  • Huge variety of restaurants, bars and cafes, plus a patisserie that makes wickedly good cakes

  • Guests consistently highlight the excellent service by staff who go above and beyond to ensure you have everything you need

  • LunaPark is great fun for kids (and adults who still think they are kids!)

What we don't like
  • The restaurants do not offer a huge choice for vegetarians

Our verdict

The Vegas-esque Delphin Imperial sits in the heart of Antalya's holiday heartland. With just under 800 rooms (including a great selection for families), you would be forgiven for thinking that this all-inclusive resort could feel busy but the layout - and the fact that there are 12 restaurants to choose from - means that it rarely feels crowded.

Among the myriad activities on offer are the three large outdoor pools, including a waterpark for kids, and an onsite funfair - LunaPark - home to bumper cars and a colourful Ferris wheel. Other child-friendly activities include the kids' club for children aged 4 to 12, the indoor kids' pool, a cinema and a playground. While the children are busy you can treat yourself at the spa, play a game of tennis or simply relax on a sun lounger listening to the sound of the sea.

Nearest beach: Delphin Imperial enjoys a beachfront location

Nearest airport: Antalya Airport (9 miles)

7

Best luxury all-inclusive

What we like
  • The hotel’s 800 metre-long private beach is wonderfully serene and relaxing

  • The grounds have been carefully planted with nearly 600 endemic plants and are beautifully maintained

What we don't like
  • If you visit off-season (November to March) many of the main facilities and activities are closed

  • There are no childcare facilities for children under two and they must be always supervised by a parent or guardian

The Cullinan in Belek. Very posh and very expensive but DH has given a grand for my 60th; to splurge not save. Also all inclusive so I may not even venture far, apart from a day trip with Jet2.

Our verdict

Possibly one of the chicest all-inclusive family resorts in Antalya is the Cullinan Belek. This high-end hotel takes its name from the world's largest diamond, the Cullinan, that was discovered in 1905 and now forms part of the British Crown Jewels.

The elegant bedrooms are large and light-filled and there's a good choice for families; we're particularly keen on the Family Suite Swim-Up. There are also a handful of villas with pools if you want more privacy. More swimming pools are dotted around the resort as well as a large Aquapark with 13 zippy slides. There are also 13 delicious restaurants (some incur an additional cost).

Kids will love the Upupa Kids Club for children aged 4 - 12 with plenty of games, activities and the odd mini disco. There's also a teen club with a games room, workshops and DJ performances. For parents, the C'espace Spa is a highlight - an indulgent space with a huge range of treatments, everything from foam massages to Ayurvedic treatments.

Nearest beach: The hotel has its own private beach.

Nearest airport: Antalya Airport (18 miles)

8

Best for a quiet escape

What we like
  • The lush, plant-filled gardens are a wonderful place to relax

  • Çirali beach is one of the most beautiful beaches of Turkey, and where the endangered loggerhead turtles’ nests

What we don't like
  • Energetic children might find the atmosphere a little too low-key (not to mention the lack of any waterslides!)

Our verdict

While much of the Turkish Riviera is dedicated to fly-and-flop resorts, the region is home to a handful of standout smaller hotels too. Take Olympos Lodge, a dreamy beachfront hotel with just 14 stylish rooms set amidst gorgeous grounds where ducks, chickens and peacocks roam.

This is the place to book if you want a slice of authentic Turkey, a laidback and peaceful retreat that has been run by the same family for 30 years. There's no swimming pool, but the beach is just moments away. There is no WiFi in the rooms, but you can get online when sitting in the plant-filled gazebo and on the beachfront lawns. And you won't find an endless list of treatments in the small Spa, but the Jacuzzi and sauna are wonderfully welcoming.

There's plenty to see and do in the neighbouring area from the remains of Olympos, once one of the most important port cities of ancient Lycia, to the hour-long walk up to the Chimaera, natural fire-spurting vents set on a rocky hillside.

Nearest beach: Çirali beach is on your doorstep

Nearest airport: Antalya Airport (56 miles)

Is Antalya good for families?

In a word, yes. The Antalya region is packed with family-friendly hotels, beaches and activities - not to mention plenty of sunshine - making this an easy destination for a fun-filled family holiday. It’s also easy to reach with regular direct flights from the UK to Antalya.

Which part of Antalya is best for families?

For families with young children, then Konyaalti Beach is a great option. Located close to the old town, this beachy neighbourhood is home to Aqualand & Dolphinland, Antalya Aquarium and Ataturk Park as well as its Blue Flag beach. Lara Beach, often referred to as the Las Vegas of Turkey, is where you’ll find Antalya’s most luxurious resorts. Belek Beach is another favourite with families both for its family-friendly hotels, its many beautiful beaches and its crowd-pleasing Land of Legends Theme Park. For something a little more low-key, head further south towards Çirali beach.

Kaleici is the historic centre of Antalya city where the cobbled streets are lined with restaurants, cafes and bars, alongside houses hiding secrets to the city’s past and religious structures such as the Yivli Minare Mosque. Even if you don’t stay here, it's well worth taking some time to explore this colourful neighbourhood.

What’s the best family-friendly hotel in Antalya?

One of the reasons we love Antalya so much is because there are so many family-friendly hotels to choose from, but we’ve picked Lara Barut Collection which offers excellent accommodation, endless activities, a beachfront location, easy access to top sights and delicious food that guests rave about.

How we chose our recommendations

Because we know that there’s nothing like a real recommendation, we first headed to the Mumsnet holidays forum to find out what family hotels in Antalya were being recommended.

We then did some research across the wider web, looking at what family hotels in Antalya had won accolades or been featured in ‘best choice’ lists across a range of sites, and what customer reviews said about them. Having collated all that information, we then narrowed our list down to the best family hotels in Antalya.
