Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

The City of London consultation didn’t go quite as they hoped...

Minutes of their meeting discussing it here and the two relevant pages attached as screen grabs.

They had 15k odd people fill it out, and in view of that are going to get professional analysis. I don’t think it’s because of the numbers, it’s because they didn’t get to sneak it through without anyone noticing. It’s interesting that they weren’t going to do this in the first place.

They are going to do an equality impact assesment (something they said they wouldn’t to me on the phone which they then backtracked slightly on via email).

They misrepresent EA 2010 saying you can’t discriminate against transsexuals. Now of course you can’t discriminate, but you can exclude them if proportionate/legitimate.

They do accept that sex based protections are a thing.

They have decided not to report to members until after the government publishes the results of their own consultation.

So the people with a vested interest in the City of London thought they’d get away with sneaking this through without it being noticed. ManFriday fought this super hard, and will continue to ensure that women and girls are protected properly in any policy the city enacts. I wonder if they wish they’d removed the consultation and written it properly in plain English like we asked now Grin

Hi, SwearyG! That's great news. Keep up the good work. And thank you for all you've don so far.

FloraHiggins · 30/09/2018 09:49

Wonderful news! Thank you Flowers

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 30/09/2018 09:49

I filled in the original and your modified version, SwearyG. Sterling work. And sterling work on here making the links between EL and other MRAs

scepticalwoman · 30/09/2018 09:51

That's great Sweary. Small steps and all that.

I'm still waiting for a response from them to my complaint about the awful bias in the report.

I do have some hope that the attempts to bias this in favour of 'personal interests' were so crude and outrageous that no public body could knowingly look the other way once it was brought to their attention. But we'll see.

WokerThanWoke · 30/09/2018 09:52

Bloody well done Sweary and ManFriday. I imagine our non-binary friend isn't very pleased...

ChrysanthemumsAreMums · 30/09/2018 09:53

Two things jump out:

What's with the 'Only 70% are UK Nationals". What are they implying???

And still they say ' gender assigned at birth'. iDIOTS

silentcrow · 30/09/2018 09:53

Excellent work. I note they don't mention how many respondents are women!

heresyandwitchcraft · 30/09/2018 09:54

Fantastic news! Thank you ManFriday for the incredible effort you put in to raise awareness and let women's voices be heard.

TerfedOff · 30/09/2018 09:54

Amazing word women.

They have underestimated us and the mood of the population of the UK.

Every one I speak to knows there is a reason the sexes are separated by biology in certain areas.

littlbrowndog · 30/09/2018 09:55

Why is it that when women report or make a complaint they at ignored but yet when the trans activists make complaint everyone jumps to act on their complaints and publicly

Almost like women are not heard

That can’t be true right ?

BingBongSong · 30/09/2018 09:56

Well done to Sweary, YesitsaDebate and the ManFriday crew. That mankini is still burned into my brain Grin.

I'll probably never visit Hampstead Ponds but am so so glad I filled the consultation in!!

IrenetheQuaint · 30/09/2018 09:56

They've kicked it into the long grass by saying they won't bring it back to the committee until after the government has published its response to the GRA consultation. That will be several months away.

OrchidInTheSun · 30/09/2018 09:56

Fantastic work SwearyG and the ManFriday blokes

I really wouldn't have known about this consultation without you.

littlbrowndog · 30/09/2018 09:56

Oh yeah sorry

Great jobs sweary and manfriday
💪💪

NopeNi · 30/09/2018 09:57

14% trans is telling - given that the estimates are, what, a few percent at most of the population are "sincerely" registered as tran? Or was it smaller than that?

Surely a professional analyst will tell them the results of an online survey which anyone could fill in multiple times and lie about are meaningless on their own. They've invalidated their own results by running the survey in such a shit way.

BeenHereAWhileNow · 30/09/2018 09:57

Well done, I filled in both as a worker with legit postcode in the city. 300,000 workers in the city and nothing was done to advertise the consultation to them by the City Corporation Angry

WSPU · 30/09/2018 09:57

👏🏼

ToeToToe · 30/09/2018 09:58

I can't read the screen shots, but this is good news, I think?

I actually got my DH to fill this out, as he genuinely works in the City of London, and could put down a workplace postcode.

Edward Lord blocked me on Twitter because I re-tweeted his tweet congratulating a v dubious academic, who had been a member of the PIE back in the 70s (denies it now, of course) - and linked it to his plans to do away with single sex facilities in London.

I feel these links are a cause for concern.

SwearyG · 30/09/2018 09:58

Why is it that when women report or make a complaint they at ignored but yet when the trans activists make complaint everyone jumps to act on their complaints and publicly

We were dismissed as “minor protest”. Minor? I’ll give you fucking minor...

And they call the ponds gendered rather than sexed Angry - it’s like they aren’t listening.

BernardBlacksWineIcelolly · 30/09/2018 09:59

amazing work Manfriday ladies (I note that it's sunday).

thank you for all your hard work

littlbrowndog · 30/09/2018 10:00

Cheeky fuckers

placemats · 30/09/2018 10:01

Hard work pays off in my opinion. The Man Friday crew are fabulous and I enjoyed meeting you and Amy in Manchester.

TurfClub · 30/09/2018 10:01

"What's with the 'Only 70% are UK Nationals". What are they implying???
"

No idea, but isn't the population of London something like 50% born overseas? Wouldn't expect in a multicultural city like London to have 100% responses from British nationals.

AsAProfessionalFekko · 30/09/2018 10:03

I worked I the city for many many years. The boys had too much authority as it was.

Boys in frocks hadn't really happened back then and the very few m2f (never fm) that I did know just got on with it.

There were a lot of pervy creeps though. ( A lot of nice people too)
