Attack on Fair Play for Women in the Indie

I'm non-binary and I was approached by an anti-trans campaigner on the street. This is what I learnt.

There are too many highlights (sarcasm) to mention. Lies too. The comment section is a bit of a treasure trove too.

The Independent was the only national not to apologize for wrongly claiming last November that FPFW lied about the number of transwomen in prison for sex offences.

Any chance the Independent is trying for another bite at the cherry? Surely not.

That article is such a pile of drivel.

littlbrowndog · 10/09/2018 21:58

The indie is a shite rag. No one reads it tbf

Melamin · 10/09/2018 21:59

Interesting to see Dawn Butler's speech there.

How are you supposed to know if someone is non binary?

Gncq · 10/09/2018 21:59

My friend, who is a neuroscientist, told her that all the science points to trans people being real

Grin Grin

Oh gosh there was me thinking they were a figment of my imagination.

Melamin · 10/09/2018 21:59

No one reads it tbf Forgot that.

littlbrowndog · 10/09/2018 21:59

Lols

WorkingItOutAsIGo · 10/09/2018 22:00

Fascinating how the author sees the value of private trans onlyspace whilst disregarding women’s desire for our own space. They just can’t see it, can they.

MacaroonMama · 10/09/2018 22:03

I have been out leafleting for FPFW. We have been working in groups, not alone, and not at night time. Most of us have been pretty anxious about getting out there and starting conversations. I really really doubt this is a true story.

Mrbatmun · 10/09/2018 22:06

Yeah the bit about the woman never having heard of Owl sounded kind of like bullshit as well.

UnderHerEye · 10/09/2018 22:07

Is that what passes for journalism these days?

A load of very obviously made up bollocks , not even dressed up in a well written piece, it reads like a made up encounter in a (young) teenagers diary!

Do they honestly think we are stupid? It’s like oh if we just keep telling you that women aren’t at risk from sharing their spaces with penises then you will believe us eventually- no we won’t because the evidence clearly shows we have every reason to be worried!!!

Oy! Oy! I’m a vegan! Don’t dare drag us into it!

LangCleg · 10/09/2018 22:21

They're so yawnsome, aren't they? It's drama lama all day long and if there's no actual drama lama-ing to be done they just make some up rather than go drama lama cold turkey.

Navel-gazing drivel.

HotRocker · 10/09/2018 22:25

This is bullshit. How old is this person, 14?
I was out leafleting on Saturday. A lot of people were interested, there were several long conversations, including with a man who was worried about his daughter. There was a woman who thought self ID was a good idea because there are lots of sexes, something about Mosaic jeans apparently. I politely said that there are lots of opinions, offered her a leaflet and asked her to have a look at it anyway. It was very respectful, if not a tad awkward. She was the first person I stopped as well, it didn’t help my nerves.
This person is an idiot. Do they think we’re just out there for shits and giggles?

littlbrowndog · 10/09/2018 22:28

It’s freshers.

Idiots out and about

TallulahWaitingInTheRain · 10/09/2018 22:32

It's Yaz Necati again. I know I'm probably letting the side down but whenever I read one of their 'what I did on the weekend' essays in the Indy I just want to give them a hug or a chocolate button or something

OldCrone · 10/09/2018 22:35

The author of that article claims to be trans, but doesn't seem to realise that the GRA was passed in 2004.

Beamur · 10/09/2018 22:36

Their website is just too annoying to engage with!

FadeCascade · 10/09/2018 22:53

Where's the bit where everyone around cheered, and the whole train carriage, or crowd on the pavement, whatever, applauded?? Disappointing.

arranfan · 10/09/2018 22:56

Yeah, this definitely happened. And the urban myths just keep on coming...

AncientLights · 10/09/2018 23:05

So is the writer trans or non-binary? I thought they were different, maybe I'm wrong. I don't believe for a moment even Dawn Butler would say anything so trite as 'it's ok for other people to have their equal rights and their human rights'. Would she? Also I thought FPFW had slightly under-estimated how many trans prisoners are sex offenders if that's what is meant by the FPFW study. Load of bollox.

GoldenBuns · 10/09/2018 23:15

So bad, it's funny. I'm loving the tale of the 'chance' encounter with an evil T**f who was set straight and sent on her way.

BabySharkDoododoo · 10/09/2018 23:17

But despite this, a small group of very vocal cisgender women have been fighting against the passing of the GRA.

I see they persist in 'midgendering' women, even after women (especially GC feminists) have said repeatedly that they are not 'cis'. Is this not literal violence right there?
