Feminism: Sex and gender discussions

Long term members of FWR: if you're leaving, might you choose a thread or resource before you go please?

I understand why some women are making the decision to leave rather than risk being banned.

Those who leave have a great deal of knowledge and understanding.

I wondered if a thread of favourite / important threads and resources might be useful to new members and lurkers.

I hope to stay but would also like to highlight two threads.

this one has some excellent explanations to anyone new to the issue and useful links:

Important women's voices, words:

It's not a GRA related thread, but it is related to the biological elitism of female physicality, so I'm gonna share it anyway

Great idea. Hard to choose though. I thought this one since theyve now got funds to print more. We used to have an actual resource thread maybe about a year ago? Some patient soul might like to search for it.

I don't want to be a downer, but I'd be careful about linking to too many of these.

Linking means bumping (or at least bringing them into view) and they will all be reported. Under the new guidelines, how many will survive?

Fabulous primer to those new to the issues, outlined with great clarity. Well worth the half an hour to read the whole thing.

Maryzsnewaccount

I think some TRAs have been going through previous threads for some time.

I'm not aware that MN are applying new guideline retrospectively.

If the threads are highlighted and then get zapped, there may be some awareness. If they are being zapped whilst people are not looking, who else would know?

I do completely understand and respect your concerns.

I'm not seeking to be directive... any thread or resource could be shared ( and despite my OP, I wasn't intending to suggest only 1!)

That's a great link, LangCleg. I haven't seen it before, but have bookmarked for a proper read later.

I wonder if it's against the new rules to link to it though [sigh]

R0wantrees · 25/06/2018 11:54

I have been told link is fine, caution needs to be applied in quoting as a quote needs to respect new guidelines.

Im just waiting on some confirmation as to acceptable redaction style.

x-posted R0wan, I do hope so.

Lang says they aren't retrospectively deleting, so if that's the case having a list here is great so we can keep an eye and challenge robustly if we see any old threads being deleted or turned into sieves.

"I'm worried that old posts/threads will be deleted under new rules."

LangCleg comment:
MNHQ did say that the new rules only apply to threads, posts and posters from the day they were instituted. So if you get something old deleted, they've made a mistake and you should appeal it.

Very interesting with those posters who have gotten banned for stating biological facts. On the thread www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3281941-very-basic-obvious-examples-of-male-privilege-please?msgid=78917576&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=Mention&utm_content=Mention+ID_de0f231c-236c-4727-b6dd-048e5006b4e2&utm_source=newsletters&utm_term=Very%20basic%20obvious%20examples%20of%20male%20privilege%20please#78917576 @fmsfms has just (Sun 24-Jun-18 20:04:32) written the following:

That's exactly what you are doing

Just think how you would feel if someone posted your posts in response to a women sexual assault statistics" .

In other words he is victim blaming rape victims and saying that they got raped because they were not risk averse. I bet he still gets to stay on Mumsnet.
