Good coverage of ManFriday at the Hampstead ponds - including supportive comments from Debbie Hayton, and not so supportive (stop being silly wimmin) comments from Jane Fae

I think that's amazingly clear on the issues. If more msm gave a voice to tw like Debbie and publicised the contrast between the activities of ManFriday et al and those of the die-in-a-fire TRAs and twitterbanners, the rights of all sides would be a deal safer.

Yes, I forgot about the highlighting of TRA intimidation. It was a very GC sympathetic piece.

Citing the example of predatory males infiltrating women’s refuges, she says: ‘This notion that a rogue male could take advantage of it (the self-identifying law) is silly.

^ This direct quote from Jane Fae made me laugh because its so fucking outrageous. Then I realised that’s exactly why the Mail included it. Let the disingenuous bullshit see the light of day and peoplecan make their own minds up.

I know. Imagine a rogue male pretending to be something to abuse women and girls..... how utterly ridiculous.

That's a good article, really good.

That's a brilliant article! JF's comments take up so much less space when you dont include the sighing Grin.

Jane Fae claiming that men would never do such a thing? Lollollol does JF think that we don't remember what JF was campaigning for back when JF was John Ozimek? No wonder so many TRAs hate their "dead names".

Wow!!!! Cant believe that article .... could have been written by one of us! Fabulous to see so much sense in print.

What Jane Fae fails to point out is that women's spaces are protected largely by social norms and conventions. Self-ID makes it harder for women to challenge someone who they think should not be there.

And the idea that @Swearygodmother is whipping up violence against trans people is plain ludicrous.

Comments going up now so worth posting in support as the early ones often end up the top comments.

I’m a bit sad tbh. A great article, really great, but they worked out who my mum is and spoke to her in depth and then put in a bit about my dad. Ever the daily fail.

I can’t be cross though. It’s fucking excellent. It makes all our points in a reasonable way and makes Jane Fae look exactly who they are.

Bravo, Frances. Thank you for publishing our voices. Please publish mummy at some point. She has some really good points to add.

As a side point I had to laugh about the “not strident” language. Obviously one of the worst things a woman could be is strident Hmm

Absolutely superb article. I'm shocked at the Fail. Amy and Hannah you truly are so brave and I admire you both immensely.

I skipped the Fae bit as I know it will have been their usual drivel.

Fantastic article. Thank you that journalist and of course ManFridayFlowers. You really are Sheros!

Dare I ask what JF was campaigning for before they changed their name?

I read the original daily mail article yesterday, and was so disappointed that they seemed to completely miss the point.

Spotted the new article this morning and what a change! This one is clear and easy to read, making it very accessible to all readers.

Very well done all involved! FlowersFlowers

A balanced article in the Mail!
Sweary its a shame they tracked down your family, your mum sounds able to deal with them.
Great piece, by talking to two transgender people it makes the ManFriday point even more strongly.

To give them their credit re my family it’s kind of my fault as I gave them enough information to work it out and they contacted me and asked for permission to talk to them, which I think shows huge integrity.

It’s such a decent piece isn’t it. Jane Fae banging on about nobody abusing self ID and calling it “silly” (patronising sod) that we would even think such a thing after the Target study and Christopher Hambrook are referenced is such a glorious thing to see.
