Charlotte takes a taxi

Charlotte Clymer was a horrible misogynistic man.

www.change.org/p/stein-huffingtonpost-com-remove-charles-clymer-as-a-contributor

In December Charlotte 'came out as a woman'

www.mumsnet.com/Talk/womens_rights/3101416-Charles-Charlotte-Clymer?messages=100&pg=1

Now Charlotte has suffered transphobia

www.gaystarnews.com/article/trans-woman-harassed-lyft-strangers-aid/

Essentially, Charlotte took a Lyft, the driver is confused because they are expecting someone who looks like a 'Charlotte' not a 'Charles', and asks for their name. Charlotte, demands the driver explain themself and gets them to stay the killer words 'you're a man'.

The taxi driver, naturally, has been immediately sacked.

Curiously loss of employment does not seem to have ever been a consequence for Charlotte's long history of misogyny. On the contrary, Charlotte has no problem finding employment.

Getting poor people fired for literally doing their job and checking if the right person has got in?

What the fuck?

Report
NotTerfNorCis · 03/05/2018 07:54

How vile. Getting someone sacked is not trivial. It also shows that Clymer is in no way 'oppressed'.

Public displays of dominance can get nasty for the target when they are put on by people like Clymer.

I knew Clymer would be this sort of woman*

This is ridiculous. Taxi driver was doing his job making sure everyone getting in TO SHARE A RIDE WITH STRANGERS was meant to be getting in and he's sacked for it?

I do wonder sometimes why some of these people don't consider the fact that they may well be the first transgender person that their target has ever met and be the targets first experience with the whole transgender situation and use it as a teaching moment. Is it because their whole world is about being trans so they assume it's a topic on everybody's mind?

If I'm taking a Lyft I want the driver to make sure that people getting into the car are meant to be there. I also want the driver not to get fired for doing their job.

Targeting people lower down the socioeconomic ladder for dominance displays is a common thing among a certain kind of trans woman. Bullying working class people is activism, apparently.

The self-righteous gaslighting is so bloody narcissistic

This is so ridiculous. The driver didn’t refuse Charlotte a lift but just asked their name when they got in. No further comment from the driver until they were made to by Charlotte pushing the matter some time later. It doesn’t even seem like they said ‘you are a man but Charlotte is a woman’s name’.

But we’ll done Charlotte, you must be very proud of your self

Lyft are virtue signalling about their sacking of the driver on Twitter

They are proud that Clymer can just snap his fingers and have a driver left unemployed.

🤯 just wow. Hopefully this story will peak some more people. Getting low paid workers fired is not a great look

He managed to make a massive scene out of some Christians daring to ask to pray for him. www.washingtonpost.com/news/posteverything/wp/2018/04/20/im-transgender-and-evangelicals-tried-to-pray-for-me-i-prayed-for-them-instead/

I've had Christians ask me the same, the simple answer is 'no thank you', but with Charles it's like 'omigod are you misgendering me u transphobic scum?' How DARE you ask to pray for me.

Does he really not know that these people pray basically constantly, for everyone?

I do keep saying - this movement isn't just misogynistic and homophobic: it's deeply, deeply classist.

I used to tell evangelists that I was a Satanist. Works just as well in terms of getting them to piss off and stop bothering you with 99.9 (666.666?)% less look at me making a career out of being the world's most obnoxious snowflake.*

*Admittedly there's a lot of competition.

Don’t uber drivers always check your name?
I would imagine that Lyfts the same especially as they are sharing a ride.

‘Admirably the first thing Charlotte did was acknowledge her privilege’
Well not so much that she would realise why some women might want the drivers to check the names of the passengers.

He reckons he is on the verge of tears because a taxi driver asked his name, but he is brave enough to force two random strangers to join his LGBT prayer.

This is appalling, it’s the insidious nature of it - the taxi driver was doing his job and he has been fired because a high profile, privaliged person has had a tantrum.
What is wrong with this picture ?

I’ve had to step away from Twitter, but if anyone is on that could express their support of the driver it may help them feel not completely ostracised

Just looked at @lyft twitter thread- and remembered why I have stepped away from twitter- people are lauding them for firing someone for doing their job!!

Sometimes I wish I had an independent income so I could spend all day on social media pointing out batshittery.

Is Charlotte trying to stir up transphobia?

I mean, that taxi driver is unlikely to go home thinking, 'How very wrong of me, I will immediately amend my ways, poor lady' and much more likely now to be filled with resentment and hate for being fired over a perfectly ordinary question.

Teacuphiccup · 03/05/2018 09:57

When your entire career is you writing about incedents of transphobia against you then you’re going to start seeing it everywhere.

When Charlotte still presented as a man she couldn’t understand why women weren’t bowing to their authority about feminism.
Now they have to.
That showed them.

Is Charlotte trying to stir up transphobia?

Pretty sure Charlotte is trying to do the same thing Charles did: co-opt the feminist movement to place themself at the centre, bully and gaslight any women who protest. #stopclymer
