A trans resource thread

Geronimoleapinglizards · 22/02/2018 10:46

I thought it would be really useful to have one thread solely dedicated to useful resources relating to the trans issue.

This issue is so overwhelming and almost on a daily basis I see women on mn saying 'I've never given this issue much thought but I just read x,y,z and am horrified' We need a thread to direct people to or to refer to ourselves which has the science and the main blogs and websites which have compiled info.

Apologies if there's already something like this. I haven't seen one.

Terf is a slur

A website which is keeping a record of threats made against women by Trans Rights Activists

A twitter thread on Lupron and some of the science on the harm it can cause

Lupron is a puberty blocker which is offered to some trans children with gender dysphoria

It can cause a reduction in IQ, weaken bones, and stunt genital growth.

The manifesto written by Trans charity, Action for Trans Health'

This is worth reading to see what TRA'S are demanding for Trans people

Can I just clarify? Isn't Lupron actually a chemo drug that's being used off licence as a puberty blocker (side effect)?

It would be really helpful for our mumsnetter who's been on it to c&p her experiences here.

This is a Youtube video of Jazz Jennings

Jazz is the poster child of the Trans Rights Movement and has had lots of media coverage.

This is a video of Jazz discussing having bottom surgery. It shows a doctor explaining the reality of creating a neo-vagina from a very small penis which is essentially still pre-pubescent, thanks to Jazz having taken puberty blockers and cross-sex hormones. It's an example of the reality of the potential damage done by going down a medical route with a trans kid.

Jazz's only real option is to have a neo-vagina created by a piece of her colon. There are lots of other videos about Jazz on Youtube

Not exactly a resource - but the blind prophet Tiresias is the only man I would also call a woman; he was transformed into one for 7 years according to a greek myth:

There was another good thread like this. I'll find a link.

So we can ideally have it all at our fingertips.

Excellent for science based arguments especially the intersex ones.

As is this one which tackles the same prominent TRA's arguments from a different angle.

'You are Killing Me': On Hate Speech and Feminist Silencing

www.troubleandstrife.org/new-articles/you-are-killing-me/

Long but good article that explains radical feminist thinking about sex and gender and how it conflicts with transactivists thinking about sex and gender.

www.feministcurrent.com

Gender critical radical feminist analysis with great writers including its founder Meghan Murphy who in Canada has to tread an even more difficult line than we do. Comments are moderated but transactivists and trans allies frequently come and are allowed to have their say and responded to by the clued up feminist regulars which can be both entertaining and illuminating.
