Could you remind me where the lipstick lists are please ? I'd like a blue-red one as red-red makes me look slightly I'll....

That should be ill of course.

Hi! :)

I'm a jewel winter. No proper diagnosis, but I'm cool-toned and jewel colours look really good on me. Earthy colours and warm ones look garish on me.

For red lipstick, I think MAC Ruby Woo rather than Russian Red? I don't wear red lipstick (and makeup only on occasions) but I keep reading that MAC Ruby Woo is for cool tones.

Thank you for the new thread. Would it be gauche to repeat my request on this thread? I'm looking for stone coloured bottoms. Thanks :)

Will keep an eye out for you twitch

Re lipstick - is there any way to avoid ending up with a drawerful of 'not quite right' red lipsticks?! I'm still a bit scared of red on my lips as I never thought I could wear it so I'm reluctant to buy any without being able to try it on, which of course you can't do...

I have a drawerful of not quite rights! In my experience it's better to go to a counter and have the SA apply it then walk around around for a bit before buying. I have loads of lipsticks under a tenner that are wasted because I couldn't try them on. Ask the SA for an everyday cool red in a formula you can handle. I have a HOC red but it's so pigmented I would only ever wear it over a balm.

I've been pleased with Love POP, it's a cool everyday colour for me. Red wise I liked chunky chilli or something like that from Cliniques chubby stick range. As you can see I prefer a softer bright.

I haven't seen any twitch but have you looked at gap, fat face or boden? They may have some.

shades ive decided that from now on I'm only going to buy premium brand lipsticks eg at the counters where you try things on. More expensive but it'll stop all the mistakes.

Will look at those thanks. I was hoping someone had bought something recently so I could double check the colour.

Would I be disbarred if maybe it was a cool linen as opposed to HOC stone? I'm finding stone hard to find.

I don't think red lipstick suits me. It looks garish on me, even cool-toned reds. But blue-based cool-toned bright pinks look lovely on me, if I may say so.

www.johnlewis.com/search/women/_/N-53f3?Ntt=stone+trousers This is my problem. How can all of these be stone? Grrrr.

twitch instead of looking for an exact match just find a colour that tones in with your swatches ie a cool colour. Especially as it's not near your face so it only needs to tone in with your tops.

Thanks - may need a department store visit next week...

None of those match my idea of stone twitch, except maybe the East ones! Since they're not near your face though, I think you'd get away with a cool colour that's close to stone.

How about these? Gap cords

There are lots of pale khaki/beige trousers there - as Queen has said, as long as these go with your tops and are not next to your face, the exact shade shouldn't matter too much. I find that teaming these colours with black, navy or white works well - maybe its the contrast that helps?

I think the test of "stone" has to be - does it look good with the winter palette, i.e. fresh and punchy with navy, red, black, etc. I'm actually looking for summer trousers but thinking Gap have a lot of light greys that look promising.

Many thanks, I'm definitely guilty of overthinking in this case. Thanks for the links. Yes to the contrast, that's what I'm aiming for. I doubt they'll go with the cobalt, purples and pinks.

Question about biker jackets - I already have black. Would cognac/tan suit us, or be garish?
