Or Wiccans. or Pagans? Or anyone who is interested in a magical path or feels some magical stirrings.

A place for support, learning, swapping ideas and magical inspiration.

Thanks for the smart new thread speakout and I am another one with a mind completely boggled by the talks of particles and solid or not so solid objects on the last of the old thread....

Very comforting, from one point of view to think how intimately we are connected to everything else in the cosmos and how we are composed as much of nothingness as somethingness - puts a lot of petty worries into clearer perspective!

I also find it comforting how relatively little we know - it reminds me of that line from Desiderata: “whether or not it is clear to you, no doubt the universe is unfolding as it should” which I have always thought incredibly peaceful.

Sabel

I find it comforting too.

The solid/not solid thing can be explained using the idea of our solar system.
At its simplest level matter is made of atoms.
An atom is like the solar system. At its heart is the nucleus, ( like our sun) and spinning around are electrons ( like our planets).
Like the solar system, an atom is mostly empty space, void. Even when atoms join up together all the empty space remains.

If course things are quite a bit more complicated than that. Atoms are made of smaller particles themselves, and as we slip into quantum understanding- things get blurry. the line between substance and energy becomes unclear, we can start definding things in terms of field theory.
It is a wormhole- literally if you start investigating string theory!!
Feels solid though!!

Yay, thank you for the new thread!

Hills you are spot on and the third person who's said that to me today - I am resolutely resting Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/04/2021 14:21

And the different versions of string theory Grin
M theory was a particular favourite. Gotta love them quarks and bosons etc. Particle physics was very much not my major. But feynman and ds have a lot to answer for.

My little geek heart does love a deep dive of science sometimes. Although that is not where my current worm holes of research lie.

queenrollo · 08/04/2021 14:47

I have always found science so utterly baffling that it makes my refuge in magic all the more precious!!
I have a relative who is a microbiologist, his 'pet' is MRSA and antibiotic resistance. I like to think my failure to grasp science is because he got all the brains in the family in that respect!

I have spent most of the day in the garden, especially the greenhouse. I have sown lots of seed but have bought tomatoes (mine never do well from seed), bell pepper and aubergine. It always amazes me that my greenhouse will go from the bare open space it is now to me fighting my way in and tying back the tomato plants so I can get to the fruit!
I have sung and talked and whispered to them all as I went, blessing them and hoping they will feed me and mine through the summer months.

I am indoors now, with the kettle on as my husband will be in from work soon. We'll have a cuppa together and then I might have a hot bath. It's getting too blustery outside for more garden work and I don't want to put my winter 'rested' body through it's paces too much!

Blessings to all x

speakout · 08/04/2021 15:00

queenrollo

Your plants sound divine. It's always a miracle isn;t it, never ceases to amaze me.
Your pepper and aubergine sound lovely- two I have never attempted. I have chilli peppers growing from seed, and quite a few others grown from my spice cupboard.
I adore aubergines, such an unctious velevety vegetable, I love the texture and how they soak up olive oil and flavours from food.
You are wise to take things easy.
It is whipping up a storm here, getting quite wild.
I am glad I don't have to go out again today, I can stay in my warm nest!!

I'm just going to creep in and curl up in a corner if that is ok? The science talk is beyond me and its been a tough old day.

Hope everyone is well and taking care of themselves. X

Have a comforting spot. Been a tough day for many.
The teapot is full, and friends are around.

Almost 13 thousand juicy magical messages!

Incredible speakout. Thank you for our wonderful new space, the energy is beautiful, as ever. I’m joining DefinitelyOdd in finding a comforting corner, I can think of no better place for it.

Lovely to see everyone here, I particularly enjoy the energy of us all gathering for a new thread.

I’ll catch up properly but I just wanted to park my broomstick and also say thank you to Sabel for the desiderata words. Re-reading that (poem?) was very soothing to me.

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/04/2021 22:37

I am enjoying this interview this evening

Again I have to say I am enjoying the moderate and rational thought process of Thorn.

LunaNorth · 08/04/2021 22:42

Hello all. I don’t contribute much to the threads, but I like to sit quietly by the fire and listen.

I hope that’s ok.

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/04/2021 23:05

Good evening Luna

Perhaps we should brew up? What ya having?

hilariousnamehere · 08/04/2021 23:57

I'm making some hot chocolate with cinnamon if you'd like some Hills and Luna Smile just the thing to help the medicine go down (and hoping for actual restful sleep tonight)

HillsBesideTheSea · 08/04/2021 23:59

Sounds perfect. May you have restorative sleep and wake refreshed tomorrow.

speakout · 09/04/2021 05:56

Such a cosy night here, I must have drifted off in our magical kitchen.
I though this was such a wise view from Kerrie Basha
Anything yet to be understood is indistinguishable from magic, whose holy neutrality is only coloured by our constructions and intentions. The reality we inhabit is shaped and reformed again by the spells we so constantly cast over ourselves, mindlessly and even wordlessly as our emotions and energy surge beyond language.

The storm has eased, but still an icy wind from the Arctic. It will be dry, and I have a big basket of laundry to do, it will dry easily in the wind.

Of course it is OK to sit and listen. All are welcome. Simply by resting here a while and reading you are contributing energy to this thread.

Thank you, @speakout, @HillsBesideTheSea and @hilariousnamehere.

I find this a very comforting corner of the internet.

VioletCharlotte · 09/04/2021 20:15

Found you all! Thank you for the new thread speakout. Thread 14! It's amazing to think we've been chatting in these thread for nearly three years now, so much wisdom, knowledge, laughter and tears shared in that time. I'm so grateful to you all for your friendship. I agree Luna that this is a comforting place.

Queenrollo I enjoyed reading about how your nurture your plants in the greenhouse as it brought back happy memories for me of being in the greenhouse with my Grandad when I was a child. He loved his garden and grew all sorts of different fruit and vegetable from seed, as well as flowers. Unfortunately don't seem to have inherited his green fingers!

Speakout. I really like that quote, it makes you think doesn't it?

This week seems to have flown by. I've been making a conscious effort to get back into a regular yoga practise and have really noticed the difference on my general mood and my sleep. I can't wait to get back to classes in May. I'm also looking forward to next week and being able to get back to swimming again. Theres something quite meditative about lane swimming, it's a great way of clearing the mind.

hilariousnamehere · 09/04/2021 20:45

I'm so glad I found you and thankful for such a welcome - you made me feel at home! It is a wonderful corner of the internet.

I have napped and read the day away and am feeling brighter - I think some spring cleaning is on my list over the weekend if my back will allow it. I love winter but it's definitely past time to let spring energy through my home now.

BlankTimes · 09/04/2021 21:44

Good evening sisters, I'll park the broom for awhile and have a cuppa while I can sit in comfort and see pictures in the flames of the fire. Anyone else fancy one? Don't forget, the Magic Teapot automatically pours your beverage of choice - we are well organised around here Halloween Grin

HillsBesideTheSea · 09/04/2021 21:56

Please.
Something comforting and pain relieving. I have done some daft things and my body has opinions.

hilariousnamehere · 09/04/2021 23:32

Sympathies, Hills, I've been crying in pain all week and it's only eased since I cracked and rang the doctor who sent some proper painkillers to the pharmacy for me yesterday. My body apparently also has strong opinions about the daft things I do! Hope you feel brighter soon.

Thank you BlankTimes that sounds perfect, mine's a caramel hot chocolate with no washing up, please ☕

speakout · 10/04/2021 06:21

Welcome to the weekend dear sisters.
I am having my mrning coffee in bed- an absolute must for me every day.
I am sorry to hear hilariousnamehere and hills are suffering pain- sometimes we do need stronger medication. Sending some healing energy.
Today is a day for loading up with protection, so much public grief and sadness around- those of us who are empaths will need to take extra care to avoid absorn=bing all the energy of loss. I will be limiting my time watching or reading the news, avoiding supermarkets and busy places.
I wonder if the static and jangled feelings many of us had earlier this week was a prelude to the waves and outpouring. The clatter of distant hooves.
My own static has diminished, but not disappeared completely.
A very cold minus 4 start to the day here, the icy tendrils of winter have still not completely relaxed their grip.
I will light a candle at 8am to raise group energy in support of each other.

Aerwyna · 10/04/2021 08:35

Good morning friends, healing energy from me too for Hills and hilarious I hope you both managed some decent rest.

I’m enjoying my favourite morning tea, poured exactly how I like it from BlankTimes magic teapot. Like speakout, a hot drink taken back to bed is an essential part of my morning routine!

Violet like you I’m feeling much gratitude for the friendship, connection and support I’ve found here. Nearly three years of having our wonderful inspiring, uplifting space is something to celebrate isn’t it!

queenrollo I also very much enjoyed reading about you weaving your magic in the greenhouse. I love the growth energy in this.

speakout wise words about protection with the mass outpourings of grief energy. Interesting about the static felt by some earlier in the week in relation to this. The Kerrie Basha quote you shared yesterday really spoke to me. Particularly the part about ‘the spells we so constantly cast over ourselves’ so true and a timely reminder for me too.

I enjoyed some time on the moor yesterday- a joy to be by the river, spot wild violets and other spring blooms, absorb the powerful energy of oak. I hope everyone finds time to feed their soul whatever it’s asking for today
