Its always been thing in my world. We've had threads on this before and it's always 50/50.

Thing.

I only ever heard of it as ‘think’ on mumsnet
Always thing for me

I thought it was think. Meaning you have to think about it again because you are wrong.

Report
9Greenbottles · 04/09/2019 18:07

It is "another think" coming because you have thought about it, somebody is saying no to it, and you have to think about an alternative.

It's Think.

It should be 'another think'.

But given the current state of British politics, I'm not sure that word is applicable in this context.

Apolloanddaphne · 04/09/2019 18:10

It is think. Make no sense as thing.

pistolknight · 04/09/2019 18:10

It’s Think 🤔 anyone who says thing is wrong (and a little bit stupid)

Report
imnottoofussed · 04/09/2019 18:11

It's definitely think

Report
iklboo · 04/09/2019 18:11

It's think. If you THINK that then you've got another THINK coming (as in re-evaluate your thoughts).

Report
LemonAddict · 04/09/2019 18:12

It’s think.

As in “if you think blah blah blah, you’ve got another think coming”.

Report
FeltCarrot · 04/09/2019 18:12

Think.

Are you all voting, via the twitter link?

btw Susie Dent says it should be think, but it’s been misheard almost from the start (some great responses on her thread Grin)

Its 'think'. 'Another thing' doesn't make sense in the context of the phrase.

Wow! Mind blown. Mumsnet is a mine of information! 😁

Unshriven · 04/09/2019 20:03

Thing makes more sense.

As in 'you've got something else coming'.

'Think' sounds wrong, who'd ever use 'think' like that in a sentence?

Report
GiantKitten · 04/09/2019 20:04

So far it’s 10:3 for think
(11:3 if I’m included)

SheepShagger that’s nearly 80:20, not 50:50 Grin

“Another think coming” = “you need to think again” or “you need to have another think”

It makes perfect sense! (& certainly a lot more sense than thing Grin)

It's 'think', I know this from years of my mother saying 'well, if you think you're going out looking like that you've got another think coming'. In other words, you're going to have to re-think your choice.

NoLeopard · 04/09/2019 20:14

Of course it's think! Thing doesn't make any sense at allConfused

It's obviously "think". What would "thing" even mean in that context? The whole point of the phrase is the emphatic repetition of the word - "If you are stupid enough to think that that is true, you have another think coming."

“If tha’ss wotchoo fink my gal, yoov gotta anuvver fink comin!”
So said my maternal grandad on many an occasion. He was born in 1905 so I’m willing to think he was definitely correct. (Well, that and ‘another thing coming’ doesn’t make sense).
And I am unanimous in that Grin (thank you Mrs Slocombe)

Thing.

As in the thing coming is a wallop Grin
