NOW CLOSED

This thread is for the 250 Mumsnetters who tested Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants with their DC.

The following items were tested:
Junior Smart Pants Size 5 for weights: 29-44lbs 13-20kg - 20 in a pack
Junior Nappies Big / XL Smart Pants Size 6 for weights: 35+ lbs 16+ kg - 18 in a pack

Here’s what Lidl have to say about the products: “Lidl knows the most important things when choosing a nappy are dryness, protection and comfort. That's why our pull up pants now have the magical absorbing tubes so we ensure ultimate dryness and leakage protection, and last year Mumsnetters asked for a wetness indicator on size 1 Newborn Nappies, so we added one!

There is no need to pay a premium price for a premium nappy, our prices are low but our quality is high. Our nappies are dermatologically tested, latex free, skin-friendly and independently tested. Protecting the environment is also important, therefore the padding used is from sustainably managed forests. The slim design means less materials, less packaging and less energy, helping to minimise our carbon footprint."

Testers - Below are some questions we’d like you to answer, but feel free to add any other comments you may have:

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

All testers who leave their feedback on site and complete the short survey that we sent to you will be entered into a prize draw to win £100 worth of Lidl vouchers (note: the winner will be sent 4x £25 vouchers, one voucher can be redeemed per transaction).

    Thanks and good luck

  1. age 4, size XL (nighttime only)
  2. absolutely fine. DS didn't notice the brand had changed for a few nights. And happily continued to use them after he did notice (and usually DS is not a fan of change). They lasted the night ok. No leaks. DS was happy, I was happy. There was nothing I disliked.
  3. yes
  4. yes. Assuming they're cheaper than Pampers then I'll probably be switching
  5. equivalent to Pampers pull ups

  1. My son is 22 months old and he used the size 5.
  2. These pants are just perfect, have got all the characters that I look for while choosing a good nappy pant for my child. It's comfortable, keeps my child dry and doesn't leak.
  3. Yes
  4. I would buy the brand if I get it at a price cheaper than Pampers pants.
  5. When it comes to dryness and leakage, Lidl pull-up pants are equivalent to the top brand in the market.

) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
Dd has just turned 4 years old and we tested the size 6.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
Very happy with them. They're so so soft!! I mean the softest nappy pants we've used. They're only used over night so have to cope with a large amount. We did have two nights with leaks but I think that is because my Dd could have done with the size 5, which is slimmer and we tried before, as the size 6 was a tad bit to wide for her. If you have a skinny child I recommend the size 5.

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
Oh definitely. So much cheaper and as stated before do soft. However still totally do the job.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
As long as this is how they'll be and they're not getting altered again i will definitely be purchasing them at our local Lidl.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
I think they're exactly the same. We often have pampers but again still the occasional night of a leak and I usually put this down to either an excessive amount of liquid that day or we just didn't quite put them on correctly. Also no urine smells that you notice with other cheaper brands I.e Tesco own.

  1. We tried size 5 on a child aged 2.
  2. My overall impression was very good. I have tried several supermarket own brand pull ups and not liked any of them but these were great and as good as the leading brand for a much lower price. I liked the sticky tab to roll them up once removed and this is a feature missing from many pull ups. I particularly liked the stretchy waistband as others we have tried have been not very elasticatwd and not stayed up but these stayed in place very well until the next nappy change.
  3. I would recommend them to a friend and I have already done so.
  4. I have already bought them again because I was very impressed for the money.
  5. In terms of dryness and leakage they kept my child dry and I didn’t experience any leaks. They performed much better than I expected.

  1. How old is your child who you tested the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
He is aged 4 and we tried the size 5 pull ups.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl's Lupilu Pull-Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They are supersoft!! I loved the wide comfy waistband and they were quite slimline too - not too bulky. We only used them for nighttime but they were excellent - no changes needed!
  3. Would you recommend the Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Certainly!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Pull-Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes I would - my son loved the 'wee line' and being able to see if he was dry or not. They are no doubt well priced if they are fron lidl too.
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
Very favourably - equally as good as Aldi (our usual) and pampers, much better than Sainsbury's and Huggies!

  1. DD is about to turn two and used the size five
  2. No aggravating seams and they were very easy to pull up and down. DD preferred these at night time and they proved to be extremely good at locking away moisture. I liked them for the convenience and the fact that DD could use them like normal pants and take them off to use the potty. The only downside was trying to take them off a night when you are doing a nappy change half-asleep. Having a rip-cord or similar would help, here
  3. I already have - they compare favourably to Sainsbury's own-brand and Pampers.

  4. Yes, if I can get to a Lidl! They are hard-wearing and DD likes them.

  5. They are score as well or better than the other brands. The gussets do an excellent job of containment.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?-I liked the softness but didn’t like the elastic on the sides, the nappies were a little on the tight side and the elastic left marks on his skin.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?-Yes if on a budget.

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?- no, too small and weren’t as good as usual brand (pampers)

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?- Not as good as the usual pampers we use. Better than a lot of supermarket own brands.

  1. How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?
    18 months, and size 5.

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?
They were so soft!! So much more comfy than any other brands of pull-ups we've tried (Aldi, Pampers and Morrisons). My little boy seemed so much more free to move than in the Aldi version especially, but they still were sufficiently absorbant that he could wear them overnight without a single leak.
The only thing I didn't like was the perforation to pull them off, it didn't quite seem perforated enough and could be a bit of a yank to get the nappy undone.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Definitely, and I already have!

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
Yes, they're a good price and great quality.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
Just as good as Aldi or Pampers but with added comfort, and far better than Morrisons.

  1. I tried these with my 2 yo. We used size 6
  2. I thought the design was basic but functional.
  3. I would recommend them. I’ve been using pampers and slightly kicked myself afterwards for paying extra out when these were just as good
  4. I would buy them. Price is good and did exactly what you want a pull up to do.
  5. I’ve tried pampers and Sainsbury’s own. Lidl’s work just as well (but cheaper!)

    3yo, size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

Nice design and soft. But they seemed narrower and smaller than other size 5s we have used. No leaks but they did not pull apart easily when changing.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

For good value yes but not necessarily for good use

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

I would try the bigger size yes

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Just the same as compared to Asda brand that we normally use for dryness/leakage

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?
    Yes I would recommend.
  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?
I have been searching for a non leaking nappy and have tried most brands and these are the nappies that don't leak. Yay! I would definitely buy these in the future.
  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?
I actually thought these pull ups reminded me of Pampers active fit pants. They are both very similar in keeping my son dry.

  5. How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the Pull Up Pants on, and which size did you use?

My 3 year old tested the XL pants.

2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

My first thought was how soft they were when I was taking them out of the pack. They really are silky soft! I then thought they were really plain and rather cheap looking.

When we first used them, they seemed great until he wore them to the park. It turns out that they fill up very quickly and after my son had done one wee, he was bulging.

The problem with this is that the pee seems to soak through a bit. The urine odour soaks through onto his clothes/pyjamas and although he doesn't feel wet, he does need fresh clothes.

All in all, these aren't great for the confidence of a toilet trainer although my son does prefer the feel of these compared to other brands.

3) Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

No, I'm afraid I wouldn't. We could deal with the cheap look of the pants if they were protective but I really couldn't recommend pants that leave clothes smelling of urine.

4) Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

No, I will be sticking with Pampers pants. I really did want to like these ones as it would be awesome to find cheaper but equally absorbent pants but I'm sorry that these simply didn't make the cut.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Pull Up Pants to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

We normally use Pampers Nappy Pants and they are fabulous! They keep my son dry throughout the night and have no leakage. If we are out and about and my son forgets to stop for the toilet, there is no unsightly bulge or smell leaking onto clothes. We simply whip off the pants, have a little wipe and pull on a fresh pair so he is ready to join the fun again without a wardrobe change.

She is 21m and used a size 5

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They were ok. I thought their claim to be more eco friendly by being thinner with less material was spurious.

I thought they would be more practical with a wiggley baby but actually I found them harder to put on than normal nappies.

  3. Would you recommend Lidl Pull Up Pants to a friend if they came up in conversation?

  4. Would you buy Lidl Pull Up Pants again in the future? If so why?

Somewhat less dry in her skin

  2. What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Pull Up Pants?
What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

1) How old is your baby/ child who you tested the nappies on, and which size did you use?

My toddler is 24 months and we used size 5plus which fit perfectly well
2) What was your overall impression of Lidl’s Lupilu Nappies? What did you like and what, if anything, did you dislike about them?

They look and feel like decent quality soft nappies and my son liked the prints

3) Would you recommend these nappies to a friend if they came up in conversation?

Absolutely would recommend them
4)Would you buy Lidl Lupilu Nappies again in the future? If so, why? If not, why not?*
Yes I would . Great value for money but most importantly they kept my son dry, explosions contained and never leaked despite him being a heavy wetter. They also don't sag.

5) How would you compare the Lidl Lupilu Nappies to other brands that you have tried in terms of dryness and leakage?

Pampers baby dry used to be a really good nappy but since they changed them last year they leak like mad and sag . These beat them hands down. The lIdl ones are as good as Aldi's in terms of dryness and leakage ( which is very good ) but superior in terms of fit as they have a stretchier waist band .

Overall I am really impressed and if I was to top by Lidl would definitely repurchase although we're currently toilet training .
