Anyone on Letrozole?

1000 replies

rubywoo24 · 25/08/2019 21:46

Hi everyone

I have been prescribed 3 cycles of Letrozole and I have just started AF after a very very long few months. So quite excited to finally getting things going!
We're currently away and I do have my medication with me but not the leaflet that came with it. So just want to double check that I am taking it correctly:

  • do I count tomorrow as CD1 as AF only started at 9.30pm today
  • is there a specific time that I have to take the tablets, I think night time is recommended?
  • do I take both tablets together?

Any other help or advice would be much appreciated!

Hi.
I was told to take on days 2-6. Count day 1 as your first proper flow, not spotting.

My medication box says take in the morning but I've read others on here say take at night to help avoid side effects.

I was only prescribed one tablet so not sure on that one.

I'm on my second cycle and I'm in the tww so I'm really hoping this is our month 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻

I took two in the middle of the day, days 3-7. My AF started later in the day too and I counted that as day 1.

Hi. So my CD1 was just spotting rather than a period. I didnt start my letrozole yesterday. What if I don't get a "proper" period?

So I think you should only start if you get a 'proper' period and your first day of a full flow is counted as CD1. You then start taking the tablets on CD2. If you are just spotting and unsure, I'd ring up the fertility clinic (you should have a number to ring to arrange the scan). And they may be able to advise you better?

See this is where I think Scotland differs.

I've just to go for a blood test on CD21 not a scan. I feel a bit hard done by 🙈

Ah I didn't realise you were in Scotland. It is strange how the procedures are different.
I've just had a call with the clinic and they have said I did ovulate in the first cycle which means for the next 2 they won't do any scans or blood tests

Hey everyone this is my second stimulated iui cycle ive just started my letrozole i take the for 5 days starting the 2nd day of my period. One at night and one in the morning at least 12 hours apart then i have a scan to check my follicles 3 days later. I was googling it when i was first told and seen that people where taking 2 tablets at the one time its amazing how clinics work so differently. X

Yeah, it's funny how it differs. I'm glad I didn't count that spotting day as CD1 as nothing has happened since then. Waiting patiently for CD1...

I'm starting it next cycle!
Currently just waiting for AF to show up this week (or a super surprising BFP 😫)

I've also been told to go for a blood test, no scan booked or anything. Either way, just need to get a confirmed ovulation finally.

@beibikeiks Good luck.
It was a long and nerve wracking wait for me! Seemed to last forever.

Keep us posted. I'll let you know if I have any side effects - that's what I'm worried about!

And yes keep us posted about side effects please! I'm also dreading those
Fingers crossed for a nice ovulation!

How did you get one with your Letrozole? 😁

My CD1 finally arrived, so I'm heading to the pharmacy to pick up my prescription. Eeeeek

How is your second cycle going? 😊
Are you currently in your TWW?

@beibikeiks
Hey. All okay, zero side effects. Perhaps not a high enough dose, we'll see at blood tests results!
Good luck. Keep us posted too x

@beibikeiks my CD1 is looming as spotting started so will also be about to start on Letrozole

Hope it's OK for me to join this thread!

Does anyone know if a glass or two of wine is OK to have with the tablets? Me and DH normally have a meal out to take some of the pain of AF arriving away

Welcome to the Letrozole party! 😂
I just checked the instruction manual that came with the prescription and it says nothing about alcohol. If you Google it, it says it's not prohibited, but could cause headaches etc

My AF is absolutely horrendous this month (last month as well actually). I'm thinking the metformin might be making it worse for some reason 🤔
But I'm excited to take the first pills tomorrow (I'm supposed to take 2 (2x2.5mg))

Sorry posted too early! Yes I'm in the TWW, although as I haven't had any scans/blood tests it doesn't feel as real as last time. As I guess I have no idea whether I've even ovulated !

@rubywoo24 what is TWW? I have no idea about all these acronyms!

I have my first blood test tomorrow - CD14. It'll be interesting to see what happens. First round of letrozole after all!
