I've always thought DFS a bit naff but have seen a nice one currently half price. Good or bad experiences?

I had one ages ago. Had it for a good three years and it was fine in that time. Sold it when we moved house.

Had mine for 3.5 years (on 4 years interest free credit - bonus).

It is still in great condition, and expect it to continue to be so for a few years yet.

My last sofa was from Coop and lasted 14 years through us, 2.5 years of renting, then us & kids.

My DFS sofa is 14 years old and is in great condition. None of the cushions have sagged or lost their shape. We recently looked at new sofas but most of them seemed really naff so we decided to stick with our current one and just get it cleaned.

The DFS man we spoke to recently said that even though our current sofa was just a normal, basic one we would have to purchase one from their current premium range to get the same quality as the standards and construction are not as god these days.

Currently waiting for delivery of my second.

Dumbarse here bought the first without really thinking out it and thought I'd be fine with a fabric sofa and throws to keep the dog hair off hahahahahahahaha maniacal laugh.

Now I'm embracing the naffness and getting leather recliners. Wipe clean to deal with the dogs and I can put my feet up if my back is playing up.

Have had one for 10 years . Just replaced it with another from DFS. It was delivered scratched but I didn't realise until after delivery guys had gone. DFS came out to repair it and did a fantastic job you can not tell at all. Just about to buy my third from them.

Yep, we like ours and have been asked if it is from john Lewis <ultimate middle class compliment?>

Never in a million years.

Ive had mine 4 years and it is almost as good as new. Even with 3 dc and a dog.

All we need to do is give the pillows a bit of a plump up.

There is one under my arse right now. It's 3 years old and looking good. It replaced our previous DFS sofa which was 10 years old and in great nick until dd1 used it as a trampoline.

Our red leather sofa is looking very saggy now, the seat cushions split underneath and the spring went too- that was only a few years in, pre-children! Wouldn't buy from there again as I don't think they are built to last.

Lexiesinclair Sun 05-May-13 06:54:03

Ours is 9 years old and still going strong. I'll replace it from there when I eventually need to.

JakeBullet Sun 05-May-13 07:01:02

For those of you who do have a DFS the ones with fancy cushions as backs last as well as the more formal backed ones? Just curious as thinking about taking the plunge and buying one smile

Essexgirlupnorth Sun 05-May-13 07:11:48

Yes we have one but don't think it has lasted that well so don't think I would buy another from there.

INeedALieIn Sun 05-May-13 07:17:21

Ours are 13 years old from dfs. Didn't buy from the ultra cheaper than cheap range as I think they won't last.

Ours is still in fantastic condition, much to my annoyance, as there is no way I can persuade dh to buy any new ones, just for a change of decor, until they at least stop being comfy and no longer look good.

Troubleintmill Sun 05-May-13 07:17:37

We have two from DfS. Thought they wouldn't be great quality but they are. Have had loads of compliments on them and if our bloody cats didn't scratch them (despite scratching posts on each corner!) they'd be as good as new after 4years. Not sure about the quality now though as heard they were changing where they made them. Used to be good old British made but think that's long gone.

Ours didn't last a year, never again

Roshbegosh Sun 05-May-13 07:46:48

Just spent a fortune at JL on one and it is crap so yes I would consider dfs now.

Weegiemum Sun 05-May-13 07:46:50

Our DFS sofas are about 15 years old and still great.

insancerre Sun 05-May-13 07:55:43

we are on our second and it is very comfy
we had first one for over 11 years but moved house and needed a corner one to fit in the living room
the old one is in the back room (it's bed settee so very handy)

Bowlersarm Sun 05-May-13 07:59:30

Yes would definitely recommend. We had two which lasted about 15 years each. But Jake ours had the cushions as backs and I really wouldn't recommend that design. Every 5 minutes we were having to straighten them, and ultimately they are the reason we changed the sofas.

Happiestinwellybobs Sun 05-May-13 08:02:18

We have two leather ones. One is 9 years old and still going strong. The other about 3 years old. tbh we couldn't find any as nice anywhere else for the money. Had great delivery service too.

IHateSafeStyle Sun 05-May-13 08:04:13

We've had ours for 4 years, one but has started to sag but that's die to dh sleeping on it for over a year

Watching this as we are about to look for a new one.
