Just back from seeing it, I enjoyed DH the die hard fan was disappointed. I cried when Leia died probably as she died in real life and her real life daughter was on screen too.

I wanted Kylo and Rey to have a happy ever after too.

Just back from the movie marathon of episodes 7,8 & 9. I liked it. Also wanted kylo to win in some way. Rey was amazing. Knackered now though xx

Just back. Loved it. The reviews make me laugh - predictable/childish - er it's a kids film about good winning.

Loved the character arc of Ben Solo.

It had alot to do to make up for the mess that The Last Jedi left in regards to the story path. J.J Abrams threw some not so subtle digs at Rian Johnson, such as when Rey goes to throw her lightsabre away. Luke's comment echoed the sentiment Mark Hamill felt about the last film, when Luke threw his old lightsabre over the cliff.

People are going to hate it, it's already cemented in peoples minds to hate it out of spite for The Last Jedi.

I felt the actors upped their game for this one, particularly Daisy Ridley, who I felt was weak in The Force Awakens, but has grown as the series progressed. They did the best they could with Princess Leia given Carrie Fishers passing, but the scenes with her in feel "off".

Overall, I enjoyed it. Watched all 3 back to back to complete the trilogy with my brother. We aren't massive Star Wars fans, we just saw The Force Awakens on opening night and decided to make it a tradition with the trilogy. Those who have more of an emotional investment in the saga may be dissappointed however.

Seeing this tomorrow with DH, really looking forward to it. DC not interested, which is sad as we were both into it as DC.

I’m enjoying the actors’ premier outfits, daisy ridley’s dresses and john boyega had sharp suit for one and deep blue/purple and gold traditional african outfit for another.

Interesting about the middle film and director sniping at the other director!

That’s high commitment hawaiianturtle! Wow. Star Wars immersion.

I’m not keen on Palpatine being in it: silly. Snoke was a silly baddie but even in a fantasy film Palpatine surviving is just too far fetched.

Saw the second showing ( too middle aged to attend the 12:01am performance).

I loved it, the C3PO significant plot line enlivened things considerably, wish we could have seen a bit more of R2. Well written, well directed.

Husband quietly whispered in my ear ‘ it’s just a film!’ when it appeared someone had died. Think more could have been made from the Endor scene.

Big fan, not objective, loved it from the start of the crawler to the very end of the beginning!

Think there will be a sequel and Rey will move on.

Saw it at a midnight showing last night as part of a trilogy marathon and we absolutely loved it. Brilliant end to the three trilogy story arc. Loved how they did the passing of Leia, quietly and respectfully.

Loved the Palapatine badguy storyline. Richard E Grant cheeed the scenery but was fabulous.
I always felt Adam Driver was badly cast a la Hayden wotsit, he was so petulant but he was brilliant in the last bit of the film and I wish we could have seen more of that.
It was a shock to me when he died.
I’m glad they left the Finn/Po/Rey relationship open ended.
There might have been a tear when Chewy got his medal.
I had my suspicions about Reys parentage but there was the one scene that just cemented it and confirmed what tons of us suspected so look out for it.

It was great seeing the three films together as I picked up on things that I hadn’t before that were across the films.

The music as ever was spot on. Absolutely bloody brilliant.

As I said we loved it but some didn’t and are picking it apart. It’s going to be a marmite film.

Rey’s Father is Palpatine’s son.

I loved the film generally but was gutted Ben and Rey didn’t have more of a happier ending, if you see what I mean.
Rey’s abilities/powers absolutely rock in this film though!

Oooh slight interesting trivia as well in that Jodie Comer (from Killing Eve) was Rey’s mother!
I also chuckled when little girl Rey still had the same hairstyle-so cute!

I teared up at the end when she said Skywalker, although it was very predictable.

Loved that they got Han Solo to show up again.

I'm glad they didn't go romance for Rey and Ben. And the story was better with him dying for her.

Not sure what the hobbit actor was doing there. I half expected a ring to appear, or a wizard. Hmm He didn't even have a story line, FFS.

It clearly matched Return of the Jedi, but I'm glad it didn't go furry/funny creatures.

They could have shown all the Jedi with Ben, but I suppose that would mirror Return too much.

I’d say 7/10 but I think they messed up Bens redemption. Rey had to turn and he had to kill her to save the galaxy.

Also missed a trick by not having anakin be the one who turned Ben back good from the force.

Basically- decent film but I could have written better 😂

I agree. I really enjoyed it, but I thought Ben's death was a lazy reprise of Vader's death. It also robbed my dc of the 'romance' that I had as a kid of Han/Leia, and the rather excellent idea that they were a special Force pairing was wasted. She doesn't even really have a chance to mourn him, as Luke did with Vader in RotJ.

I didn't like Rey being alone at the end (other than BB8). She struggled to leave a life of isolation on a desert planet after all, only to end up all alone on another.

Great action, great buddy sequences, some true surprises and a finale that tied up (most) loose ends.

Did anyone else also thought that planet destroyer cannon was some general/model maker overcompensating for something? Wink

I thought it was good. That kiss at the end felt off and unnecessary. It was predictable and similarities with ROTJ ending, but yes very good.

Ben and the First/Final order killed billions of children, women and men with the planet killer - so I wasn’t that bothered with his death or redemption.

watched & enjoyed, Wednesday. Villanelle being Rey’s mum was good and deeply appropriate. The thought of Ben & Rey having children gave me the eebie jeebies. Could you imagine?! Disturbances in the force... I liked Rey using Ben’s light Sabre at the end when the force is at balance & there’s no disturbances anymore ‘cause everyone lives happily ever after. The ghosty jedis became a bit much at times. Really liked c3po & r2d2 and amazed how old I am now!? The stories have seen me though my lifetime so am a bit baffled really ☺️

I was incensed that Rey stole/kept BB-8 from Poe!

I think the kiss when it happened was a let down- the two of them had far more chemistry and passion in the last film, as woeful as it was.

I don't think that is Ben's lightsabre at the end Bobby - he threw his away, irretrievably. I think that's one Rey built, to complete her Jedi training. It's yellow, for a start, so must use a different Khyber crystal oh lord, kill me now for even posting things like that, I blame my son

It was Leia’s lightsaber. One Luke’s on Leia’s.
