Another month, another chance to start/restart/continue the 30 Day Shred, or similar - ripped in 30, NMTZ, whatever your preferred form of torture exercise with Jillian you're welcome here for support, advice and motivation!

Thans errol

I slept for exactly 3 hours, because of DD. I feel like boiled shit. But I am doing L1D1 today if it's the last thing I do.
DIG DEEP -oh yeah!

Wish me luck

Good luck Zing! - you may find that doing the shred gets you going - my head usually feels more alive after I've done it.

Remember not to skimp on the stretches at the end - with L1 you particularly need to do good quad stretches, most people find they can do them much better with a little support from a chair arm rather than wobbling on one leg. And have a warm shower or bath after. L1 will make you ache for the first 3-4 days but then it really does get better and you'll start seeing results pretty quickly.

I did week one day 10 today of ripped. I've decided to do 10 days of each week. It's taken me 14 days to do the 10 workouts, due to hangovers days off.

Good luck for October everyone, remember not to "phone it in"!!

Hi, can I sort of join? I did L1D1 of shred yesterday but DH wants to go for a run today, so I will do d2 tomorrow. Feeling the press ups (and that's only the modified ones!) but not too bad otherwise.

L3D9 done. Hoping my new set of DVDs with Ripped in 30 arrives soon!

Hello Winkly - the more the merrier. I'm nearly finished with my second time round and can only do the modified press-ups, couldn't do them at all to start with, I had to do wall press-ups instead the first time on L1.

Bump - I reckon 5 days a week is fine, one or two days off is probably a good thing

I have to be in this time. Have some work to do then will get started.

I need to do L1D4 of the shred today - just need to stick to it. I usually get to day 5/6, take a day off and then give up.

However my DVD is scratched so can't do L2 or L3 so may need to order a replacement DVD this week.

Burning - the first few days are way the worst so do try to stick with it beyond that - you're giving yourself all the pain for not much gain! And don't worry about a day off - just say, ok, that was a rest day I'll come back to it stronger tomorrow (or in my case, Monday - I only ever do weekdays).

Can I have a WhoopWhoop?

L1D1 done.

I pushed through despite:

  • being as fit as a comatose hippo.
  • no weights (still not arrived)
  • having to stop more than allowed
  • DD climbing over me/lying on the mat grinning aka being in the way

it can only get better, yes?

I did the like the stretches at the end!Grin

Happy to oblige - Whoop Whoop! Grin

Don't worry if you need to stop for a breather - what matters isn't where you start, or even where you end, but that you improve which you will if you stick with it.

Believe me - I'm 52 and I'm stronger than I've ever been in my life.

Hi Errol can I join please?

I'm 52 also, tried the 30 day shred a few times but always fall off the wagon - I've never got as far as level 3 but this time I'm determined.

I'm aiming for 5 x times per week, have done level 2 about 5 times now & am getting better but still a sweating, panting, swearing wreck whilst doing it.

Also, I feel like my arms/shoulders are getting firmer & stronger but my legs still weak & wobbly Confused

I'm only 39, but had 6 kids in 11 years and it shows.

I've lived in maternity clothes for more years than I dare to admit...Blush
I think turning 40 next summer switched on some kind of button. I don't mind becoming 40, but I don't want to be 40 and fat.
that combo scares me.

even without the weights I can just about feel my arm muscles. good. I forgot I had them!Grin

I used tins of beans before I got my dumbbells zing, they did the job.

If you've been carrying around a succession of babies I'm sure you'll have some arm muscles already, zing! You know what they say - life begins at 40.

bump I almost did that!

I have a pair of wrist weights - 0.5 kg each. I'll use them tomorrow.
Today I was really pushed with time so just wanted to get on.

I never thought I'd say this but I'm looking forward to tomorrow! Shock Grin

Thanks for starting us off in October Errol. I have been doing the 30 DS since the end of August, am currently mon level 3 day 3 (just done). I am definitely taking the scenic route rather than getting it done in 30!
had good results so far so definitely sticking with it even though I am struggling a lot with motivation for level 3 and have been slipping in BFBM here and there.
Good luck all, here's to a successful October for us all.

Can I join please? I did L1D1 of 30 day shred today after a long time of no exercise and 3 babies in 5 years. I did it - just. But now I feel really wobbly when I stand and my arms are also really wobbly at the top and shoulders.

Is it safe to do it day in day out? Don't you need a rest in between?

thanks ripping

weirdest thing is I actually feel like doing it again tonight!
I won't. I'm bloody tired but I felt healthy afterwards, which was great!

Nice thread! I'm on L2D9 of the Shred and, after a week off with the period-from-hell, I was happy to find that I came back stronger, not reverted to a blob. Will look in for encouragement (and some idea of what to do next). DDs (age 4 and 2) now shout 'jumping jacks' and leap around with me...
