It’s bloody ridiculous and makes her position borderline untenable, which is infuriating because she has otherwise been very good.

What a joke!

Mrsjayy Sun 05-Apr-20 11:39:58

Apparently she had been working very hard and just visited, silly woman although half of the westmister cabinet have "symptoms" so they obviously have not been very good with guidelines either.

Sunflower20 Sun 05-Apr-20 11:40:31

Has she been good? Has she fuck. Not seeing the PPE in my hospital.

Sunflower20 Sun 05-Apr-20 11:41:00

This selfish bitch needs to step down. This is an absolute joke.

NeutralJanet Sun 05-Apr-20 11:41:46

I wouldn't like to be in her shoes when she gets a dressing down from Nicola.

BurgerQuean Sun 05-Apr-20 11:42:08

Yes, they’ve hardly set a good example. Surely it will now be difficult for her to stand before the nation and tell us what to do and reiterate that there are no exceptions!

@Sunflower20 that’s awful, I’m sorry. I think she has (til now) seemed very credible and trustworthy on tv, but appreciate that those on the front line are seeing a totally different side and have a better idea of what the reality is.

What a joke.🤦‍♀️

I just hope that all the keyboard warriors on here policing the application of the government guidelines have themselves been observing government guidance on diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, exercise and obesity over the years.

Saz12 Sun 05-Apr-20 11:51:10

God thats an embarrassment! Yes,the rules really do apply to you too, eejit! Surely she now has to resign.

Saz12 Sun 05-Apr-20 11:55:52

Tegu-those things affect your own health. This affects other people’s health.

And I’ve no interest in policing “other people’s” activities in general, but when a senior figure has been INSTRUCTING people to stay home (not advising them) then it’s reasonable to assume they themselves should follow those instructions).

tegucigalpa13 Sun 05-Apr-20 12:07:03

Those things do not just impact on your own health. If someone’s lifestyle choices have put them in a position in which they will be more likely to require hospitalisation, ventilation, ICU etc that has a direct impact on the health of others who are also competing for resources.

coachman Sun 05-Apr-20 12:07:52

I think she should resign. She's made a grave error of judgement. It's either that or arrogance. 'Do as I say and not as I do' is not an acceptable attitude at the moment when everyone is being asked to make sacrifices. What a hypocrite.

coachman Sun 05-Apr-20 12:08:39

Oops - wrong thread. I'll ask for it to be deleted.

coachman Sun 05-Apr-20 12:10:00

Sorry. Right thread after all!

TheMagiciansMewTwo Sun 05-Apr-20 12:13:57

I thought she had been good at give briefings but her position is untenable now. I hope she does step down. If she tries to stay, it compromises the entire Scottish Government response because she has lost all credibility.

BlueThursday Sun 05-Apr-20 12:19:48

All credibility is gone in my opinion

Fivefootoffun Sun 05-Apr-20 12:21:07

What was she thinking! I can’t fathom how she thought this would be okay.

Had they genuinely just wanted to check on the house, ONE of them would have drove the round trip and came straight home albeit still not essential in my eyes. The fact the whole family went and stayed over honestly just makes me think they wanted a family night away. Appalling.

Rosehip10 Sun 05-Apr-20 12:22:05

Remember her begging people not to come to their second homes in Scotland? One rule for senior officials, one rule for the masses (and I agree with the rules).

BelleharePenguin09 Sun 05-Apr-20 12:22:22

What a hypocrite. She should be ashamed. I look forward to seeing her attempt to convey the “Stay at home” message any time soon.

Mrsjayy Sun 05-Apr-20 12:23:37

She took the kids and the dog she was after a sneaky weekend and was caught !

Rosehip10 Sun 05-Apr-20 12:32:55

She Will look daft at the press conference. Sturgeon will be asked repeatedly what she think about this.

BelleharePenguin09 Sun 05-Apr-20 12:34:15

It’s diverting attention to say the least. I am furious. How dare she?🤬

BurgerQuean Sun 05-Apr-20 12:37:41

I just hope that all the keyboard warriors on here policing the application of the government guidelines have themselves been observing government guidance on diet, smoking, alcohol consumption, exercise and obesity over the years.

I don’t police the behaviour of other people, but you can surely see how that’s different from a country’s chief medical officer telling everyone that they have to strictly follow the rules and then making an exception for herself?

This isn’t a case of complaining because your neighbour has taken the dog out for a second walk; this is the government’s most senior adviser on the current crisis not taking it seriously and not living by the rules she is expecting everyone else to adhere to.
