Starting yet another thread on self insemination before our second one locks down!

Welcome to THE most supportive group you could wish for if you’re starting or you are already on a self insemination journey.
Remember, nothing is TMI and you are not alone. 💖

Calling the usual suspects, in no particular order (and sorry if I missed anyone 😊):

Let it rain BFPs!!! 🐣

Haha, I love the name! Hi everyone 👋

MrsKin90 Tue 19-Jan-21 16:25:06

😂 are you sure nothing is TMI?! Sounds like a challenge! Thanks for starting a new one 🥰

rs2015 Tue 19-Jan-21 16:28:07

Hi everyone, can I also join the group? I'm also using SI as I suffer from vaginismus. You all sound like such a supportive bunch, it's so hard for me to talk about SI in real life! X

Sydney1986x Tue 19-Jan-21 16:36:03

Loving the name 😂👏 it made me giggle!!

Welcome @rs2015 of course you can join 😄! How long have you been on your SI journey? I agree, so difficult IRL and here is such a safe and supportive place xx

rs2015 Tue 19-Jan-21 16:42:32

@Sydney1986x thanks for being so welcoming! We have been trying SI for 8 months now with no luck. I have just had all my blood tests done via GP, just waiting for an ultrasound appointment. Husband has also had a sperm analysis and just waiting on the results. I am also seeing a gyne for support with vaginismus which is going well so far 🤞🏽some months I am positive, others I get overwhelmed and impatient 😩

Bluey18 Tue 19-Jan-21 17:01:45

rs2015 Tue 19-Jan-21 17:02:59

Thank you @Bluey18! I'm wishing for baby dust for you all too x

eloiseislost Tue 19-Jan-21 17:10:45

Welcome @rs2015 💖
It's very good that you and your DH have had tests done and you are working on your vaginismus. You are doing all the right things! 🙂
It's only normal for the mood to fluctuate during TTC, it feels like time stands still sometimes, I completely get where you're coming from!
I hope this thread brings you luck! 🍀

Thank you @eloiseislost. I'm going to spend some time reading through the previous thread to catch up on where everyone is in their TTC journey

Lori23TTC Tue 19-Jan-21 18:09:51

Thanks for the new thread @eloiseislost 🥰

@rs2015 welcome to the gang! Wishing you lots of luck xx

Makingnumber2 Tue 19-Jan-21 18:10:59

Thanks for moving us over @eloiseislost smile and I love the new name! And yes- let the BFPs rain down!

Welcome @rs2015 you're definitely in the right place for support with all things SI-related smile it's great you guys already have things in place to help with vaginismus and check sperm count etc. Hope this cycle is the one for you!

rs2015 Tue 19-Jan-21 18:13:20

Thanks you @Lori23TTC and @Makingnumber2! Sending you all baby dust x

Cathie102 Tue 19-Jan-21 18:14:37

@rs2015 - welcome! I just managed to get a BFP from SI also due to vaginismus. Feel free to get in touch with any questions or any support you need. I know how shitty it is and how much you probably feel like you’re the only person in the world who has to do this! You are not, it’s much more common than you think. This thread was a life saver for me and I hope it will be for you and that everyone in here gets their BFP

rs2015 Tue 19-Jan-21 18:16:00

Congrats @Cathie102 that's really reassuring to hear! I wish you a happy and healthy pregnancy! When I can figure out how to PM you I will definitely take you up on that offer 🤣 x

Birchybirch Tue 19-Jan-21 19:01:52

Welcome @rs2015! Yes I've never discussed SI with anyone other than my doctor the other week, and on here. I agree that nothing is ever really tmi, we're all pretty much in similar boats with similar experiences, so the hints and tips we get from each other are priceless.

Wishing you all the luck and baby dust! My dh can't finish with sex, so this was our only option really without medical intervention x

rs2015 Tue 19-Jan-21 19:03:51

@Birchybirch thank you for the warm welcome. Sending you lots of baby dust x

primrosechill Tue 19-Jan-21 20:01:20

It’s official: I can no longer keep up 😆

Love the new thread name, sensing some natural marketing skills in this group hahaha

@rs2015 welcome! I also struggle with vaginismus, it’s so much more common than we think...

rs2015 Tue 19-Jan-21 20:04:04

Thank you @primrosechill, I never realised how common it was until I attended group therapy on it with a bunch of supportive women recently, I've made more progress in that month than I have in the past 5 years on my own!

AdriannaP Tue 19-Jan-21 20:19:27

Hello everyone 👋🏻 Great to have a new thread.

Lori23TTC Tue 19-Jan-21 20:36:22

@AdriannaP congratulations!! I wish you a healthy pregnancy xxxx

Quick OPK question ladies.
So, on your excellent advice, DH and I SI-ed yesterday because I got such a strong OPK. I tested pretty much 24h later after 2.5h urine hold and the line was faint again.
So this cycle my OPKS went:
SAT cd13-no line on OPK
Sun CD14- faint line
Mon C15- V strong line (like a record breaking strong for me)
Today CD16- faint line again, similar to sunday.

So- when do you think I ov-ed? Would you say today or yday? Usually I get loads of EWCM but have hardly had any at all until a tiny bit yday- none today. I also usually get pains on one side but not really had anything of any note.
If we Si- again tomorrow will we have covered all bases do you think?

Bluey18 Tue 19-Jan-21 21:39:39

@Makingnumber2 I think they say you usually ovulate 24-36 hours after the peak so you most likely ovulated today if it was yesterday that you got the positive OPK (I'm far from an expert I'll add, haha). Ideally they say try the day of, before and after ovulation. I know for me, my OH would never manage that so in your shoes I would be trying for one more SI either tonight or early tomorrow if possible! It sounds like you have an excellent chance already since you SI yesterday smile

Bluey18 Tue 19-Jan-21 21:42:33

@Makingnumber2 also to add, it's perfectly normal for the opk to be back to negative by the time you actually ovulate, the hormone has finished surging at that stage, so don't let the light test today put you off.

Janefx40 Tue 19-Jan-21 22:38:19

Hey folks. Loving the new thread! 24 messages already!

Welcome @rs2015 good luck with the tests. I'm an IVFer so have had every test under the sun pretty much. Trying SI in between
