To think that someone is trying to recruit my partner as a spy

In the last 2 weeks, my boyfriend has received 4 parcels from Amazon that he didn't order. Addressed to him, at our house, but not showing on his order history. On calling Amazon, they are adamant that someone has sent them to him as a gift, and has paid for all four items using a gift card.

Parcel one... a strange wire.
Parcel two.. another strange wire.
Parcel three... a Bluetooth earpiece (do people still use these?!)
Parcel four which arrived today.. A baseball cap with a hidden spy camera! WTF!

We have NO idea who would send these. AIBU to think he is being recruited as a spy, with his mission brief to follow?! grin Or is there a reasonable explanation for this?

I have no idea but I absolutely love this thread already and am crossing my fingers that it's real grin

Is this the kind of prank his friends would pull? Sounds interesting though.

PepperedLife Mon 18-Sep-17 18:55:40

How intriguing! The next delivery has to be black trousers, a black polo neck and a balaclava.

Sounds like the set up for a stag party or something similar. Has he got anything like that coming up?

Milk Tray next.

Omg this is husbands birthday sorted for next year!

Yes it's real, I promise. Here's the hat which came today. We looked it up and it's £55 on Amazon - not sure any of his friends would spend that much on a prank, and if it is a prank then I'm not sure what the relevance of the wires are...

Has anyone else had parcels from Amazon, addressed to them, which they didn't order?!

It's a bit scary that people actually order this stuff! confused

FreakinScaryCaaw Mon 18-Sep-17 18:58:55

How bizarre. That'd freak me out

ButtonBoo Mon 18-Sep-17 18:59:21

How bizarre!! Will the Aston Martin come next???!

HoneyIshrunktheBiscuit Mon 18-Sep-17 19:00:12

Is there no message in the invoice?

UpLighter Mon 18-Sep-17 19:02:52

I've had some.
They changed the rules a while back for giving away free stuff to get reviews on amazon. I think some still send out as a gift and hope the person leaves a review. I left a review and crossed my fingers for more stuff!

I got a knockoff version of a Fitbit type thing once that I hadn't ordered. Phoned up and was told by Amazon staff there was no info about who ordered it. V odd.

Blatent place mark!

It would worry me but I'm a worrier..

SpiritedLondon Mon 18-Sep-17 19:13:56

That sounds interesting.... tell us more about the wires.

Spuddington Mon 18-Sep-17 19:14:07

mishfish Mon 18-Sep-17 19:16:13

You say boyfriend.... are you engaged and his stag do is soon?

Doublemint Mon 18-Sep-17 19:16:36

Omg if a red duffle bag filled with passports turns up he is basically Jason bourne.

Wanderlust1984 Mon 18-Sep-17 19:17:54

Shameless placemark also! grin very intriguing...!

perrypausal Mon 18-Sep-17 19:18:16

Is he a drinker? I have had a few parcels ordered after a bottle of red and denied all knowledge of ordering. blush

Inthecornerwatchingyoukissher Mon 18-Sep-17 19:18:55

This is intruiging it would drive me mad not knowing who sent it.

I had a pack of top trumps sent to me. But this was probably a mix up as I had actually ordered something

Needalifeoverhaul Mon 18-Sep-17 19:20:05

I can't wait to hear what arrives next!!

onemorecupofcoffeefortheroad Mon 18-Sep-17 19:20:44

A good friend of mine received a number of Amazon parcels in a row that she hadn't ordered. Turned out it was a friend who had sent her an Amazon gift once and had her name and address listed on their Amazon account - they just forgot to click on their own address when next ordering from Amazon.
