Tesco delivery - Mini Disaster!

Anyone else suffer this today?

We have delivery saver so booked slot ages ago. I do a Sainsburys shop for fresh stuff (luckily) so Tesco is all the drinks, random bits like jam and trifle stuff and everyday things like bread, milk, loo roll etc.

Slot booked for 4-5 today. Voicemail at 1.30 from Tesco to say that due to a system failure in store the order has been cancelled! Xmas ShockXmas ConfusedXmas Angry

Cue dash this afternoon to asda after printing my Tesco list off to get the shopping. I couldn't face trying to do it all at sainsburys in the morning with a 2yr old and 5mo baby in tow!

Tesco apologised and have given a £100 'refund' as a goodwill gesture which is nice.

I'm feeling lucky that it's only the 22nd and im on maternity leave so I can just get it sorted without much bother. Feel sorry for anyone who was relying on the online delivery though.

Never happened before, typical it would be the Christmas Shop!

That's really inconvenient for you, but was the £100 the refunded shopping or a goodwill amount? If it's a free £100 that's pretty amazing!

I'm sat here currently waiting for my Christmas food shop courtesy of Morrisons...they are running 10 mins late apparently. Just hoping all the essential items are in stock...

Happened to me about four years ago with Asda. Major system failure, Asda couldn't deliver on the 23rd but brought the stuff on the 24th, the whole shopping was free, £200 quids worth AND they gave us £150 by way of apology.

I have hoped for a repeat every year since, but sadly they got their act together thereafter.

Blimey Plums, you were quids in!

Sainsburys were disappointingly spot on with my order, this morning.

Which surprised me as they've fucked something up every single delivery since August!

My friend's Tesco order came yesterday without the turkey!! It was substituted for 2 small crappy frozen turkeys-she was not happy!!

Several phone calls later, there's been very little in the way of an apology and no compensation or anything.

Nice work, Tesco!

I had a crap service from Tesco about 4 years back, you had to preorder any Christmas related food like 3 weeks in advance and couldn't change it past that date. I presumed that was so they could get everything in stock! They failed to deliver every single preordered item - substituted an individual sponge pudding for a Christmas pudding, a tiny piece of steak instead of a beef joint etc etc. Never got anything back!

I am rather worried about my turkey arriving

I booked a Waitrose delivery slot for the 23rd December one year, due between 5-7pm. They forgot the order and after many emAils and phone calls to their main customer service department, they finally found it in a corridor and delivered it to me at 11.30pm with a complimentary shit bottle of Prosecco. We had to cancel dinner plans which was a bugger.

Never again. I am going into Morrison's at 8am tomorrow!

chipmunk are you me?! Tesco cancelled my click and collect order today after a 'system error'. I also have a 2 year old and a 5 month old and thanked the gods for being on maternity leave so I could run to Asda this afternoon while MIL had the kids.

Another one with a friend who's turkey was missing from their Christmas delivery, Asda this time, and substituted with 2 chicken breasts Grin

We had a tesco delivery last night and had to send stuff back again as the dates were so short (today's date)! You'd think they would make sure things would last until at least Xmas day but no apparently not!

How annoying! Tesco did exactly the same to me last year, on the 27th of December. I'd worked over Christmas and had 16 people coming for dinner. Worst bit was the never told me until I called them to query where my shopping was. Went to the store but couldn't get a parking space as at large out of town shopping centre. I went in asked for help from the store staff, got none went to sainsburys did my shop. Cancelled my delivery saver and used sainsburys for the next four months, until one of their drivers refused to bring my shopping in when I was heavily pregnant. Went back to tesco at that point. I got £10 compensation, would have been quite happy with £100.

Mine's just arrived, all here to my surprise. No missing items. Morrisons is tops. Off to play fridge tetris now.

seal they haven't charged us for the shopping but have put £100 onto our payment card as a goodwill gesture so a free £100.

Sadly for them I went and spent it at Asda Xmas Smile

stinky you are lucky mil could mind the dc's. I kept the toddler happy with babybel, a cheese straw and my emergency (bribery) smartie stash! He was most put out that he had to share a trolley with his baby sister (one of those with a baby seat and toddler seat) and spent the whole time moaning when she or her blanket touched him Xmas Grin

Bloody Ocado, showing up at the right time with a full order. I should have gone to Tesco and been a hundred quid up!

Report
underneaththeash · 22/12/2016 23:20

showmen would much rather have the full order!

We had a waitrose last year with basically half of it missing....bloody useless ended up going there with three whingeing children. This year have used ocado and (fingers crossed) all seems to be in basket still.

Hooray for free cash !!!

Our delivery came tonight, 2 substitutions, which meant we got finest products rather than normal own brand!
Total win, I was shocked

My Sainsburys order was delivered more or less in full - just 2 things missing, one unimportant and a dessert but I can easily pop out tomorrow to get a dessert.

We got our ocado delivery yesterday.... All fine with the human food but the dog food had to be substituted. Instead of sending us another brand of dog food, they've substituted it with the same brand of cat food. Hmm

Tesco order came at 8 pm last night, all present and correct. Massive improvement on Asda 5 or 6 years ago, who took our Christmas shop to the same house number/street name, but in a city 30 miles away!

Thankfully all fine here other than Tesco had no pate at all to deliver but can live with that.

Tesco policy is 'bigger or better' on substitutes so I'm usually quite happy when they don't have something I order Wink

I have an asda order coming tonight between 8-10. I had an email at 3am saying it was being picked! And to keep refreshing the page as delivery times could change with delays.

I really hope nothing fucks up.
