What are an employers responsibilities?

I have taken on 3 assistants (I'm a childminder btw)

They do not work school holidays (they want to stay at home with their own children)

They work up to 6 (ish) hours a week

Do I have any responsibilities with regard to Holiday/Sick and Maternity Pay.

I pay half if they are sick - but nothing if their child is sick (I normally encourage their children to come with them - so they have no childcare costs) and the earn free childcare from me (1 hr per week worked)

Have I got myself into a sticky situation

Hi Guys DH tells me that although you have to pay 4wks Hol Pay that includes Bank Hols. So if my calc is right your Ass would still cost you 51p extra an hour.

Thanks Xena, that is much better, I might start that from April (I can't face it for March)

I've just realised that link is Business Link and I have an advisor from there already - currently I'm using him for advertising advise but I'll ask him about this as well (he might have a way round it)
