OH had an affair with a member of staff. Can he fire her?

My OH recently had an affair with a member of staff ie someone he employed. She works in a very close environment where they can’t easily escape each other. What can be done, legally? I’m in pieces every time he leaves for work. Can he sack her? Could I dismiss her if I became a director?

I can't believe this hasn't been deleted yet.

‘My OH recently had an affair with someone he employed’.

Honestly, just keep reading that sentence until you realise who has destroyed your marriage.

I’ll give you a clue, if it wasn’t this lady your husband cheated with, it would be someone else.

I’m so sorry you’re in this situation, but you need to wake up and smell the coffee. He probably justified it to OW telling her how terrible your marriage was, how he wants to leave you, and how you never have sex. He’s of course probably the victim in all of this…

Strictlymad · 27/12/2024 12:31

If he’s serious about cutting ties with the ow and salvaging his marriage he should be leaving for a new job, not trying to illegally sack her.

FestiveFruitloop · 27/12/2024 12:32

Do you not think dumping the fucker would be a tad more logical OP?

TennisToday · 27/12/2024 12:32

Womens solidarity going strong I see

ManchesterLu · 27/12/2024 12:33

Sorry but why are you trying to get rid of her and not him? Getting her out of the way won't stop the fact that you're with a man who thinks it's okay to cheat on you. That should be what you're thinking about right now.

You will never, ever be able to trust him again. This woman is not the only one he will ever be in close proximity with.

devilspawn · 27/12/2024 12:33

Even if you got rid of this one, you're going to have to get rid of the next one, and so on and so forth. Better to get rid of him.

ObliviousCoalmine · 27/12/2024 12:35

lol.

You mean solidarity with the woman potentially losing her job because a man couldn't keep his dick under control.
Yup.

You want to sack the woman he slept with? Listen, I get that you're hurting and I totally understand that. But you can't sack her for that. You can, however, and should, sack your husband.

Solidarity with both women, who have been fucked over by the same man? Yep.

minesempty · 27/12/2024 12:40

If he did sack her, he'd be creating a vacancy ie a new hot woman to work along side to take his mind off the monotony of marriage.

Stravaig · 27/12/2024 12:40

Why should she lose her job because you have shite taste in men?!

Jennyathemall · 27/12/2024 12:41

Well done OP - Peak MN achieved.

CandyCane457 · 27/12/2024 12:41

Do you even work for the company or just planning on getting a job there and jumping straight to director just so you can have the pleasure of sacking her?

Your anger is misplaced. This woman shouldn’t have to lose her job. I think you need to be more focused on your cheating husband.

Onlycoffee · 27/12/2024 12:41

The mental gymnastics is staggering on this one!

I get it op, it's a shock and right now you'll do anything to keep your life the same as it has always been.

But there's only so long you can hold on to it all, you're going to have to face reality sooner or later.

AskMeNotWhat · 27/12/2024 12:42

Surely there must be HR who should be dealing with this issue.

In the industry that I work, both employees would be fired for gross misconduct.

I suspect this post might not be genuine.

It sounds absurd what OP is suggesting.

Kisskiss · 27/12/2024 12:42

I’m guessing if he sacks her, she can take him to tribunal given they had an affair in the past.
in all honesty, are you sure he won’t just do it again with another employee . Think carefully about who you should be directing your anger at

minesempty · 27/12/2024 12:43

People have been known to loose their jobs when they have lost their reputation. Perhaps your husband and this woman will give the company a bad name.

PrioritisePleasure24 · 27/12/2024 12:44

it will just make room for the next woman to fall for his ‘charms’ you are looking at this all wrong i’m afraid… He is the problem!!

Merryoldgoat · 27/12/2024 12:46

sure.

StormingNorman · 27/12/2024 12:53

He can’t fire her but he can pay her off and get her to sign an NDA.

ColourBlueColourPurple · 27/12/2024 12:53

StrawberryDream24 · 27/12/2024 12:27

I guess you're going to have to veto every hire from now on, so you only hire men or women you believe he wouldn't put his dick in.

All very healthy.

Men like that would put their dick in anything
