Coworker mad at me for keeping a selfie on my mobile of us together

user1471867483 · 18/12/2024 11:53

My coworker is leaving her job soon so we decided to have a muck about and take a couple of selfies of us both on my phone. One photo didn't turn out very well and she hated it. I told her I'd delete it if she felt better about it, but really I retrieved it and kept it on my phone. However, I was showing her other photos on my phone and the picture she hated came next. She nearly killed me and accused me of lying, saying I told her I'd deleted etc and I said I forgot to delete properly and is caller me a liar. Now she's all moody with me. Surely I can have whatever I want on my own phone?
I texted her I was sorry if I've hurt her feelings and that it wasn't my intention, but she hasn't replied.

If you said you'd delete it that's what you should have done. I'd be unhappy with you.

Alalalala · 18/12/2024 12:30

You did lie and you should have deleted it (and you should delete it now). If you love the photo of
yourself so much, crop her out of it.

Ihatelittlefriendsusan · 18/12/2024 12:30

I assume the schools have broken up!

If this is real, grow up. You told her you would delete and then you retrieved it knowing how she felt. I'm not surprised she is angry at you

You have been very childish.

Zebrashavestripes · 18/12/2024 12:31

You should have deleted it. Why would you keep it?

BilboBlaggin · 18/12/2024 12:33

I'd be and at you too, especially as you said you'd delete it. Why do you need to keep it? You said you took more than one so could you not keep the other one?

DinDjarin1 · 18/12/2024 12:33

Bit of an overreaction on her part. If it was an innocent mistake and you've deleted it now, not sure why she got so upset. I'd have just said hey you've still got that awful picture of me, can you delete it, and moved on.

Is she one of those types that inspects every picture taken of her and has to have it taken again or deleted immediately if she thinks she doesn't look good?

She's insecure about her looks, but so am I, but I don't react like this. To me, it's a throw away issue.

Are you a man by any chance?
But anyway, delete the photo like you should have done in the first place.

ARichtGoodDram · 18/12/2024 12:39

She nearly killed me and accused me of lying, saying I told her I'd deleted etc and I said I forgot to delete properly and is caller me a liar.

Well she’s not wrong, you did lie!

If you’ve come across to her as unapologetic as you do here it’s not surprising she’s mad.

She asked you to delete it. You told her you would and then you retrieved it.

I've already apologised. I told her if she wants to fall out over this then I'll respect her decision. But I can't say sorry anymore. I'm maxed out with it all.

So you took a photo of her and you?

It wasn't a photo she liked, so she asked you to delete it?

You agreed to delete it?

Instead you underhandedly retrieved it?

And you wonder why she's upset with you?

Delete the photo! I'd leave her alone too. You don't sound like a very good friend to be honest.

Was your reason for keeping the photo of her looking less than she felt confident in your way of thinking you looked better next to her?

Either way you lied, and you deceived her. That's unkind.

Have you properly deleted the photo now.

So hardly an overreaction by the other friend

You have been very childish.

What have schools breaking up got to do with anything. Do teachers and students where you live not have internet access during term time?

We have no idea if the OP is telling the truth but to suggest the thread is related to school holidays is stupid surely

cherrysodas · 18/12/2024 13:01

I can see why she was upset. You tricked her into thinking the photo was gone from your phone.

cherrysodas · 18/12/2024 13:04

You said one of the photos didn’t turn out well. So you must have others that were better that she didn’t mind you keeping, why keep the one she hated?

You may have said the words, but my point was you don’t sound remotely sorry.

Your posts have a real air of “she’s being ridiculous and tedious” and if that’s come across to her it’s no wonder she’s still angry.

lionloaf · 18/12/2024 13:51

Just delete it like you said you would, or cut her out of it completely. She’s right, you are a liar.

ExquisiteDecorations · 18/12/2024 14:16

You said you'd delete it, forgetting would be excusable but deliberately retrieving it really isn't, no wonder she's pissed off, she must wonder how many other things you've lied about to her. She doesn't have to be vain to hate a particular photo, we've all had awful ones and she probably doesn't want it popping up on SM.

Snorlaxo · 18/12/2024 14:26

Your colleague is not unreasonable to be mad at you. You lied and retrieved the photo- why? If it was because you looked good, then you should’ve cropped/edited her out since she explicitly said she didn’t like the photo.

Your attitude smacks of “I’m sorry that you feel that way” when it doesn’t sound like she’s done anything wrong.

MumonabikeE5 · 18/12/2024 14:29

She accused you of lying because you did.

She should fall out with you - you sound awful. She asked you to delete it, you did and sneakily retrieved it- what a weird little thing to do?! Maybe look at yourself here- you sound weird as fuck
