What do you do? I'm getting jaded working in the NHS and know I have many skills that I could use elsewhere...

Lots of jobs here that pay £60K or more @ImJustaGirlnotaPrincess

NHS jobs (and many other public service) are always less pay than private sector. Also bear in mind that many answers on this thread will be fictitious... Best to research this yourself.

Why would they be fictitius? They sound perfect reasonable to me and to ge fair, it’s not that hard to earn £50k if you are ambitious and have specialist skills / degree.

take10yearsofmylife · 20/08/2024 20:36

Engineer in private sector.

I think people often mistaken that you get more pay and benefits from private sector than public.

There's no guarantee pay rise in private sector, i.e. you could be on 30k for 10 years and only 3% pension contributions from employer.

However, you will never know what's out there until you look. Good luck.

Last worked in the civil service, communications. Left in 2015 on £55k, so guess the same role would be around £10k higher now?

I’m surprised by how many teachers are on this thread! Is it the London weighting on salaries or do a lot of teachers earn over 50k?
