What do you do? I'm getting jaded working in the NHS and know I have many skills that I could use elsewhere...

OP posts:
crazyunicornlady73 · 22/08/2024 13:40

Just gone over that in the last six months, I'm a special needs coordinator in a primary school.

angieloumc · 22/08/2024 14:52

Assistant head of libraries and archives.

CurlyhairedAssassin · 22/08/2024 16:52

LondonFox · 20/08/2024 20:44

Mix of data analytics and project management manager in a charity.
After 5 years my work is a joke and I probably deliver it all in max 8-12h a week real work. On some weeks I work like 5 hours.
Apparently everyone is afraid of losing me and my skills lmao.

I hope you're joking. As a regular give to charity, on far less money than 50k, and working far far more hours, many unpaid, I find it quite galling to read this.

Galling? Why?
I am not sure what your earning capability got to do with a fact that I managed to organize my life in a nice way.
Obviously skills, experience and attitude I have are worth more than what you offer.

echosun · 22/08/2024 18:15

RFP writer - @witmum nice to see bid managers on here!

Well it would suggest that the post doesn’t need a full time role. That money could be saved.

FKAT · 22/08/2024 19:44

It depends. If LondonFox is delivering (say) £Xm in incremental revenue for the charity, surely it's better to keep them on and motivated to do a good job?

Bcs most of people with skills/experience/attitude for a £50k+ job would need to work full time to deliver what I deliver and would struggle. I know as it was tested.
I could go to £100+ and work full time but I prefer to work like this currently as it suits me.

In theory yes, but i Wonder if this person is able to do what could take most people to work out in days, weeks, months in a few hours? Maybe the work they do someone might look at and not even want to attempt to try it? I imagine that will have taken some time to get to being able to work at that level though. Obv different if the person isn’t doing their work and blaming others etc

I think if you are able to get to that kind of level where you can produce high output more than anyone else could and make it work nicely for you then good for you!

Charliebear2020 · 23/08/2024 16:51

I was in the NHS for many years and moved to the commercial sector as a clinical specialist - so in one role, I basically completed training on new equipment purchased into hospitals and community settings. I now work as clinical liason to help select the best products for their needs. You manage your own diary 90% of the time and its very hybrid so you can be at home or in different places. Some cover small areas and it's rare I've ever had to work unsocial hours (maybe 3 times in 5 years) and the latest is still only until about 8pm. Its available for lots of fields such as pharmaceutical, and some roles are to ensure compliance etc which is part of my role now

If someone is donating to charity and then reading someone else talking about 'lmao I get paid over £50k in a job that's a joke', can you not see how that might make someone feel unhappy? Your contribution might well be worth what you get paid, but that's no reason to brag and laugh about how little work you have to do to get a decent salary from a charity.

Your last sentence in this post is, frankly, rude. You know nothing about the other poster, so are really just coming across as trying to be unkind to them.

When people read "charity" they imagine three person organization running on min wage and volunteering helping poor orphans get dressed.

There are charities funded solely by people who live in fuckung castles and making well educated posh people rack money and have amazing career titles.

I was not braging, just letting OP know what kind of jobs exist for over 50k lol
