What do you do? I'm getting jaded working in the NHS and know I have many skills that I could use elsewhere...

Consultant in my field with 25years experience in a global consultancy business (degree, masters and chartered). Hit £50k+ a few years ago.

Truthlikeness · 20/08/2024 19:30

Project Management (senior level) in the charity sector. Took about 15 years experience to get there. Would have been a lot quicker in the commercial sector.

Consultancy. Most (all?) the f these jobs you wouldn't just be able to walk into though, you'd need specific degree and experience first and to work your way up. My job needs an engineering or science degree plus a masters degree, and you'd start on £30k. It'd likely take you around 8 years to get to £50k but you can go much higher after that too.

This.

It is not just transferable skills. You may have to obtain a specific qualification first.

Senior management in the NHS. It will never pay as well as the private sector but you have much better job security.
