@carosel2 Oh no, I didn't even realise 😂 I already had sent them a message, but no answer yet. Maybe they are closed down now! If I do get a reply I will let you know, would be interesting to see now if they are open or not

carosel2 · 27/02/2023 20:12

@EmilyJ23 - I rang the number too and it said 'you have dialled a wrong number'! I have done this myself in the past to companies only to find they have closed down, wish they would take their adverts off when they fold, but you never know, they may only reply via email, so fingers crossed you hear something 😊I used to work for the Police typing interviews up (very interesting) but quite demanding as I would get given work at weekend for tapes to be typed up for when the person was due in court on the Monday so it was a bit of a rush getting it all sorted. I worked via a Policeman at the local station. What about asking your local Police Station if they need any transcribers and that you can work from home. Send off a CV to them stating what you could offer, you never know, as they are always very busy!

EmilyJ23 · 28/02/2023 08:38

@carosel2 That work sounds so interesting! Still haven't had a reply from NJC. As you say, if they have closed down, they need to update their website. I am happy with the work I am getting from Accuro, if only the pay was better. Only been doing it for a few weeks so maybe cheeky to ask for a pay rise already lol

carosel2 · 28/02/2023 08:58

@EmilyJ23 - I worked for Accuro a few years back. The people are nice but the pay was dreadful. I didnt like having to put my days and times available as it would change due to commitments so couldnt rely on work plus they would bombard me with files say around 4:30 which would then leave me having to type in the evening which I dont like doing. I asked for a pay rise once and was refused. I fell out with them in COVID as they asked transcribers to take a pay cut! because work was very sparse. I refused so didnt get any work. Then when it started picking up again they sent me emails asking me to type. I just think the pay is too dire to be honest. You should enquire to the Police Ive seen agencies advertising work for Police. My hubby is a retired Detective Constable and I found my work through him. It was a long time ago though when I was younger (im 63 now). If they dont do it for individuals they may put you in touch with agencies they use. Send a CV in to Personnel its worth a go 😊

Although a reasonable amount of work on DICT8 I'm just getting nowhere with the dictation today 😓I give up !!!!

Newinmarch22 · 01/03/2023 18:32

Same here, well over 70 tasks most of which are absolutely disgusting quality and DICT8 have cheek to send emails saying how much work is on there!

Pinksville · 01/03/2023 19:01

@Newinmarch22 I just couldn't today, the standard of dictation for mine was so low and none of it made sense, my head felt like it was going to explode.

danblack87 · 01/03/2023 22:07

I am not well so have not attempted any work at all. Finally got an appointment at GP tomorrow after 3 weeks of getting nowhere with regards to getting an appointment. I was rather rattled and said the service was shit and asked to see the Practice Manager (who, of course, was not available)!!! Hey presto - 'magic words' having gone to the GP practice to state my case to receptionist .... appointment tomorrow. Getting appointment at my GP is like trying to find 'rocking horse shit'!!

carosel2 · 02/03/2023 07:04

@Newinmarch22 - same here got quite excited at the amount of tasks. Wasted hours just making £7. How these docs get through their exams when they are so illiterate. Its shocking. Some of the terminolgy and medicines are totally inaudible. One doc tried spelling out a drug and got it all wrong! Why other agencies can have relatively decent work but dict8 have such rubbish il never know.

Gally123 · 02/03/2023 07:39

@danblack87 - I sympathise, at present at our GP surgery you have to book an appointment for a month in advance. I made my appointment to see my GP about 2 weeks ago and the date I have is 14 March. It's been like that for a while now.

Work is a struggle at the moment, DICT8 have poor dictators and the work seems to have dried up on Tpro. End of last week it seemed to get back to normal but this week very few new tasks added and whole clinics seem to have disappeared. Not sure where it has gone and who is now doing this typing!

Rule number one and i said this out loud typing yesterday "never trust a doctors spelling" the ratio of correctness is usually 1.5/10 :D

I had a lot on yesterday and managed to catch some typing later on and made £17 ish in less than a few hours, but i was going careful as I was very tired and didn't want to fall asleep. Have more stuff to do today with things at home and glad i made up the time in advance. Its not usual to see a lot of work on like this but as above the dictation is shocking. My day usually starts like this.

There's work on "YAY!"

The dictation is pants "BOO!" (goes and makes coffee/ eat breakfast / clean cat litter lol X

carosel2 · 02/03/2023 10:12

@Gally123 same here with Tpro, nil on three hospitals today and 5 only and a few on the other. Rather odd!

Whitestar55 · 02/03/2023 10:25

I've been reading through this article, which is quite revealing really when you research the companies involved and what they offer. Many are promoting voice recognition over manual transcription to save time and money, and some are international. Glad to see DICT and Tpro are on the list, but the trend does seem to be toward dictator DIY VR tech, perhaps with inhouse secretaries editing (or not), although we all know that's far from perfect at present.

I dread to think what voice recognition would make of some of the crap we have to decipher

I know, the equipment would probably explode lol.

I'm wondering if a lot of dictators are doing their own VR editing now, or passing it onto their inhouse secretaries, and are using outsourced manual transcription services less often. Let's hope enough are using DICT8 and Tpro to keep us all going for a while yet, before AI takes over, although AI will probably go on strike when it hears some of the dictation.

Gally123 · 02/03/2023 17:45

@Pinksville - there is one dictator on TPro who is possibly American and has a very strong accent and the VR is all gobbledegook. I have to rewrite it all.

Pinksville · 02/03/2023 18:48

@Whitestar55 I did have a read via the link you supplied. Seeing that Dict8 and TPro are being included makes me think that the NHS is a long way off from AI. I bet they don't have paper free offices yet, and still use fax machines 😂😂etc.

Staralfur · 03/03/2023 10:20

Hi I wondered if anyone had a contact email for Tpro? I’ve been working for DICT8 for a couple of months and am interested in branching out for a bit more security in the amount of work I can access. Thanks!

Gally123 · 03/03/2023 12:50

@Staralfur - if you have read through the thread you will see that Tpro has had a sudden and very dramatic downturn in work since the end of January. Worrying times. As I remember you apply via their website, but as I say, there is very little work at the moment. One day this week one of the hospitals I am matched with was 0 letters for most of the day.

Chrissols · 03/03/2023 13:37

@Staralfur This is the email I used to use [email protected]

Gally123 · 03/03/2023 17:39

@Chrissols - I think Laura has left the company now.

Chrissols · 03/03/2023 17:43

@Gally123 ahh well @Staralfur could always email [email protected] as they were always very good at pointing me in the right direction

Staralfur · 03/03/2023 20:58

Thanks everyone, I ended up going on the helpdesk chat and they gave me the email address [email protected] - actually they spelled it wrong but I worked out what it should have been… they’re not hiring at the moment but hopefully if they can sort out their issues they will let me know.

I'd pay to read it :D

Frazzledbynature · 06/03/2023 09:53

@Staralfur Slightly late to the conversation as usual, but [email protected] is the lady who offered me a job only a few weeks ago! Can't make it out unless it was the opportune moment.
