@Whitestar55 I agree with your sentiment, I have been working for Dict8 for nearly 2 years on and off and the work wasn't great then, but now it's atrocious. Every once in a while it would be nice to get an email acknowledging the poor standard of work we are given. At the moment I am getting dictation so quiet that I have to put the volume up to maximum and even then it's difficult ! But yes, at times frustration can get the better of us all !!!

I like 70s and 80s rock, but hated 80s fashion, the worst ever, big hair and big shoulder pads and those awful long skirts with the flaps 😂

I was at school when those skirts were out showing a bit of a false underskirt, ra ra skirts. I was more of a new-age gal back then, Duranie, with a best friend who loved The Jam, we rubbed off our musical tastes on one another; loved the punk scene but that grew on me more the older i got!

It was the 90's I reverted back to listening to rock like the Scorpions and Helloween, it got a bit more "thrashy" but not OTT. I matured with Nightwish in the noughties and saw them, WASP, Nickleback and Dragonforce in concerts during my short stay in Belfast.

I listen to most stuff bar rap these days with the exception of Linkin Park :)

Chrissols · 25/01/2023 14:20

I used to love Led Zep, Whitesnake, Black Sabboth etc., and now I love.........DEAN MARTIN lol

Whitestar55 · 25/01/2023 14:24

I love country music too, especially Gretchen Wilson, but once a rocker always a rocker.

Going back to the subject of work 😩, has anyone managed to secure NHS work purely home based? I've contacted one of my local Trusts but they only offer hybrid working, and I don't relish the thought of having to go to the office and the politics that come with it, not to mention battling with printers.

@Whitestar55 I have been doing a few hours a week NHS purely home-based for over 15 months now - and been offered loads more but don't really want anymore as love my self-employed bits and the freedom of not working if I don't feel like it. I do enjoy the NHS work I do though as never have to go on-site and the pay is quite nice.

Whitestar55 · 25/01/2023 16:10

@Chrissols Thanks for your reply. My local Trusts are a bit behind the times in this respect, I think I'll have to search further afield.

Ive been employed by the NHS for 10 years as a medical secretary but had to go off long term sick last year. I enquired about working from home, not even as a secretary but willing to drop a band and type from home, I was firmly told not possible! So looks like they will just be losing me, always knew we are only a number anyway.

Ive been trying to apply for online typing from home but finding it difficult to get signed up! A company got back to me a few weeks ago, I emailed them back a few questions I have, but haven’t heard from them since. It’s just so frustrating!

Staralfur · 26/01/2023 20:55

Does anyone know how to find out when T-Pro might be hiring transcribers again? I’m really interested but found the website hard to navigate.

I find their website difficult too. I emailed them start of January and they told me they should be recruiting in February. As you say tho the website isn’t very clear and no section like “work for us” or any information about working for them like other companies have

sijacks05 · 27/01/2023 16:28

I'm curious. Been with Dict8 nearly a year. Hardly any feedback lately but today pulled up on abbreviating AFP. Told to type as heard alpha feto protein. Been a med Sec over 20 years, is this being picky?

Pinksville · 27/01/2023 17:36

Yes, they don't like abbreviations !
Maybe fire back with, it's actually alpha-fetoprotein 😂

If you have been doing this for a while, then they have been saving up the money. I've got one that quotes "Comments" never put it as a header for months then got pulled for not putting it! Since then the doc barely says it!

@Whitestar55 In other news, I got my carers approved! Yippee, now the pressure is off and I'm down to two days to work while his Autism team show on those days. I'm still in shock its took them three months to approve it, back date it etc and i laughed because they paid me £10 christmas bonus.... ooo what to spend that on!

Gally123 · 30/01/2023 08:21

bit of a surprise this morning - I have 4 groups on Tpro and all are showing 0 work! Has everyone else been working hard over the weekend or is this some sort of glitch I wonder? Most unusual, it's normally low but not 0, and not 0 in every group.

olddoglover · 30/01/2023 09:01

Yes very worrying, at least we have a message telling us about it though. There wasn't much over the weekend either, I usually work weekends but there was nothing yesterday. Hopefully we will have some better news later.

Frazzledbynature · 30/01/2023 09:51

Could it be due to strikes, I'm unsure when they are going ahead as I try to avoid the news. My husband fills me in constantly but its usually to do with what the government are doing us over with next.

Gally123 · 30/01/2023 12:00

@Frazzledbynature - are they striking in Ireland? I am sure if that was the case the message put out would have said that. Strange to have less work on Tpro showing than DICT8 - and highlights why people should sign up for more than one company.

Whitestar55 · 30/01/2023 12:35

@Gally123 I agree. I'd also like to find some online work that doesn't involve transcription as a back-up, but not had much luck up to now.

Whitestar55 · 30/01/2023 12:43

It's really strange that T-pros work has gone to zero. Did they give any reason at all for it? I've noticed Trusts in my area have been advertising for support secretaries recently, including hybrid office/home working.

OP posts:
Gally123 · 30/01/2023 12:48

@Whitestar55 no, they find it strange as well and are looking at IT issues. They did have the cyber attack last year that resulted in cancelled clinics and less work. There do seem to be clinics running this morning but very, very few tasks considering Tpro give access to whole hospitals and not just limited specialties like DICT8. Normally I would be seeing a few hundred not just barely 10.

Whitestar55 · 30/01/2023 13:10

Let's hope it's a temporary blip and you soon have plenty of work!

OP posts:
carosel2 · 30/01/2023 15:18

@Gally123 - snap! Ive got three groups and not one task! I said same cant believe in all the specialties and not one task available and total remaining at zero. Haven't looked since 1pm as busy wth other things now but quite puzzling

Gally123 · 30/01/2023 15:28

@carosel2 - I sent them in a message as I thought it odd than not one doctor had downloaded anything in the morning, and to suggest that possibly people had been really busy all weekend! the other question that I know has come up with DICT8 in the past, is have they taken on too many new typists and now there is not enough work to go around? However, they seem equally mystified. It has picked up a bit now but still running at about 10-20, although was much lower again at lunchtime in the hiatus between morning and afternoon clinics. There is more on DICT8 but of very poor quality unfortunately.

carosel2 · 30/01/2023 15:46

@Gally123 - yes ive notice nothing on Dict8 too or its horrendous dictation the bit thats on and same old trashy odd doctor that are totally shabby. Ive not even attempted anything on there on only made £100 in 2 months with them. I think theyve taken on either too many transcribers or losing their clients but then whose getting the good work if clients are still same cause they arent on my listing

nomadchild · 30/01/2023 16:16

I typed all Saturday for Tpro and lots of others were too as the tasks went down rapidly with nothing new being loaded in. When I finished up there were only 2 letters left, then Sunday I typed only 4 tasks and when I logged out there were only 2 tasks left. I still got an email though Sun and Mon saying there are 4568 tasks available, however that was not the case when I went into the system, so I think it might be a glitch or cyber attack as you say. They would not be striking in Southern Ireland as they are not governed by us, so hence not part of the NHS. I am saying this as I do not have any hospitals that fall into Northern Ireland. I type for a lot of hospitals for them so it seems to be affecting everyone regardless of how many you type for. I did think I would be doing Dict8 this morning but have coped with enough Tpro work. There is work now but is under 100 tasks which is unusual. Also I do a lot of private hospitals and clinics and that is not coming through either. Basically its everything.
