Hi, Here we go again, anyone else set up a new thread yet? Hope to find everyone 🙂

@nomadchild - sounds serious, hope they get fixed soon.

Whitestar55 · 30/01/2023 17:54

@carosel2 Dictation is definitely getting worse isn't it, sloppy speech, dropping Ts, cutting if off and complete disregard for the fact someone has to listen to it and make sense of it. Some is great of course, but most isn't.

Pinksville · 30/01/2023 18:22

There is a T-pro thread going that states the same regarding lack of work.

carosel2 · 30/01/2023 18:32

@Whitestar55 - its just not worth putting in any effort for them anymore, I only type tasks that are clear now hence only making £100 in last six weeks or so. Its just not proving to be fruitful. Its pointless sitting at my computer just waiting so I keep looking in between Tpro and checking to see if anything comes in and if I get a few good ones I keep going until they all disappear again, which sum up to about around 3 in a row with minimum lineage. I cant help but think there must be someone getting the better dictations otherwise Dict8 would go under surely with such little being done by some of us guys that are being fed the crap

Lunnuni · 31/01/2023 10:43

Almost nothing today. I have applied to someone called Alphabet Secretarial but their reply doesn't inspire confidence as it begins
Dear [Your-name],
😆

Whitestar55 · 31/01/2023 12:13

The problem is most of these transcription companies are the same, they want perfection for peanuts. Slave labour.

OP posts:
nomadchild · 31/01/2023 14:44

The trouble with Jan is everyone is typing to get cash to cover Xmas spending plus lots of newbies sign up, it happens every year. By March we will be back to normal.

Pinksville · 31/01/2023 16:45

Is it me or is it National Poor Speaking Day ??

Whitestar55 · 31/01/2023 17:57

@Pinksville It's actually International Zebra Day today (really it is), but regarding medical transcription I would agree that it's also National Poor Speaking Day (every day) 😂

With all the strikes going on for better pay etc, and reading the issues we are all having with DICT8 with regards pay, and working for free via the notes box ! I came across Community online which is a "modern trade union" They seem to be campaigning for a new deal for the self-employed on their site.

Frazzledbynature · 01/02/2023 11:41

Gally123 · 30/01/2023 12:00

@Frazzledbynature - are they striking in Ireland? I am sure if that was the case the message put out would have said that. Strange to have less work on Tpro showing than DICT8 - and highlights why people should sign up for more than one company.

As I don't work for TPRO, I only know they are based in Ireland, not who they provide work for. I was just surmising until reading the rest of the thread.

I was at a course yesterday and when I mentioned the way they work, the group tutor who is also a councillor asked if that was allowed under the human rights act!

She just offered us to type "Remote" into indeed search. But it's not an easy option scrolling through jobs that don't, even then, match working from home.

Gally123 · 01/02/2023 11:44

@Frazzledbynature sorry - do not understand your post - if you do not work for Tpro how can you mention to a tutor how they work?

TypoQueen1 · 01/02/2023 17:02

Quick question, at the end of a letter should CC or enc: come first, eg

Yours sincerely

Dr Who

CC: Mrs Bloggs

Enc:

deewu · 01/02/2023 19:45

@TypoQueen1 I would put

CC: Patient

Enclosure

Hope that helps, in 15 years I have never been told otherwise😀

TypoQueen1 · 01/02/2023 19:58

@deewu Thanks, I've never been pulled up either. All a bit pedantic really, the standard of grammar and punctuation in the letters sent out from my NHS job is shocking sometimes.

Gally123 · 01/02/2023 20:12

@TypoQueen1 it depends who the enclosure is for -

if the enclosure is for the main recipient it is -

Dear Dr

Yours sincerely

Hi all, having been surprised by 31 Oct being a BH in Ireland I'll just mention there's another coming up, St Bridget's Day next Mon.

@Frazzledbynature sorry - do not understand your post - if you do not work for Tpro how can you mention to a tutor how they work?

I originally surmised the lack of work for Tpro could be down to strikes. When you questioned them striking in Ireland that was my response. It had nothing to do with me knowing how they work, I assumed the work came from hospitals in the UK. that's it really.

Hi all, having been surprised by 31 Oct being a BH in Ireland I'll just mention there's another coming up, St Bridget's Day next Mon.

I used to live in N Ireland but I didn't know that, used to get double time and a day off in lieu for St Patricks and the 12th of July holiday.

It's ironic really, I recall being over there and the main alternative to WH Smiths refused to put Harry Potter Books in the window because of the witchcraft (anti-religious vibe). Come Halloween, it was packed with all the usual gumph. It was laughable.

Gally123 · 02/02/2023 12:31

@Frazzledbynature - Tpro is based in the Republic of Ireland, hence they used to pay in Euros but now pay in sterling if required. They get different bank holidays to Northern Ireland.

Whitestar55 · 02/02/2023 13:03

Is anyone else find DICT8 dictation diabolical today? I've never known it so bad.

OP posts:
Pinksville · 02/02/2023 14:14

@Whitestar55 agree, I could cry 😓

Chrissols · 02/02/2023 16:36

@Whitestar55 I find that everyday now, its just got to the point of not bothering to even look most days as it doesn't improve.
