How much do you earn

Have previously come across a similar thread on another forum and it was so interesting! Basically people commented with their job, age and how much they earn. I hate my job/industry and feel it doesn't pay well like I was led to believe but also feel I have no idea what's out there career/job wise and how much various jobs would earn so what I could do.

I'm 27, a solicitor in Scotland and earn £35k

@FanciedanewnameAnne

Ah so you are the one monitoring the microchips for Bill then..... found anything interesting about 90 year old Margaret Keenan yet then?

As I say, it's too identifying for me to reveal what I do, but I DEFINITELY earn 7 million pounds a month. Smile

No-one lies about what they earn on here, and EVERYone tells the total honest truth. 😂😂😂

Bubbletiers · 28/01/2021 10:15

Nanny/PA, age 30, £50k London.

minchinfin · 28/01/2021 10:15

Mid forties, female, IT, basic is 90K but with commission earn more in a good year. This financial year it is up to around 250K. 200K per year is probably average. Before this role was 100K per year.

peboh · 28/01/2021 10:17

27, sahm so £0 🤷🏼‍♀️😅

MindBodyChocolate · 28/01/2021 10:17

42, company solicitor, £85k + bonus (range from £5k to £20k).

LucasLeesEyebrows · 28/01/2021 10:18

@Freetigerking

Right who can I be today?? 🤔 Well today I am a brain surgeon 90grand a year.
You need to do much better than that! My current favourite is the 30 year old who earns £700K - doesn't say what she does though.
Xenia · 28/01/2021 10:19

Most people don't lie on MN about their wages and when they do you can usually tell. Also you can check for some eg my sibiling is a senior NHS consultant (doctor) and their pay scales are published by and large for NHS pay element anyway as are those for nurses and teachers. Also for London lawyers in the first few years the pay is public too and you can check the lists/charts of it.

I am a lawyer and don't disclose what I earn but it is a reasonable amount.
You can also check by looking at lifestyle sometimes which is what HMRC has done for 50 years - does Bill say he earns £10k but he has a massive house, Spanish holiday home and 2 expensive cars? If so probably something dodgy going on.

What she does may be IDENTIFYING though! Grin

I earned around £60k before lockdown blew a hole in my sector and caused it to shut down completely, with no prospect of it opening up again in any foreseeable future. Since then I have earned £0.

Yes, I am very pissed off.

I am late 40s.

PerpetuallyUnderwhelmed · 28/01/2021 10:25

32, legal/compliance - £70k plus bonus (not London)

Kitsmummy · 28/01/2021 10:26

£15k Part time school matron, however I low level property develop too so my house is waaaaay above my salary level

PerpetuallyUnderwhelmed · 28/01/2021 10:28

Oops missed out fact that £70k is just for 3 days per week

itsalwayssunnyhere · 28/01/2021 10:29

65K

Pasithea · 28/01/2021 10:30

Big fat zero. Disabled lost every job I’ve had.

SedentaryCat · 28/01/2021 10:34

Co-own a business with DH. Earn a standard wage plus dividends. Approx £30k pa but can be lower depending on how the business performs.

In the past, when I was less well-paid, I found these threads a bit depressing. I have to say though that overall, I think it is positive that people share this information more now (some might be bullshit sure but you can see trends) as the only reason the gender pay gap exists and has done for decades is because it was all secret and hidden. I used to work in a bank and was paid 30K less for the same role as my 6 male team leaders for 5 years, I eventually discovered.

This and these type of thread helped me decide not to put up with it and strive for equal pay. I am now still the only woman but am earning the same as the men in my team - in fact more, because being the token female stands out.

I never knew any high earning women in my twenties and thirties and didn't really believe it was that possible, outside Law. I wish I had wised up sooner and I hope young girls in sixth form realise.

LazyFace · 28/01/2021 10:34

@GorvidAl

I’m a Russian scam artist who trawls popular forums asking how much people earn and what job they do so I can find new victims.

en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Social_engineering_(security)

Tomorrow, I might post another thread under a different name asking what MNers name their pets, or their first child. Then I might post yet another thread asking about your parents’ names.

I earn however much we can get from your bank accounts, PayPal, Amazon, etc.

Are you recruiting by any chance? Smile
user86386427 · 28/01/2021 10:35

@PerpetuallyUnderwhelmed do you have legal qualifications? I work in a related field but without legal qualifications so researching my ceiling!

minchinfin · 28/01/2021 10:35

team members not team leaders, sorry

HippoOnMyRoofEatingCake · 28/01/2021 10:36

You may think this is an anonymous forum but hackers can triangulate this data with everything else you post on all your social media feeds and build a nice clear picture of you. Are you really that naive and clueless about how to protect your personal identity!?

Lol. "Triangulate" your anonymous forum posts to what, exactly? How?

PerpetuallyUnderwhelmed · 28/01/2021 10:37

@user86386427 yes I do and several postgrad qualifications

MasterBeth · 28/01/2021 10:38

HR isn’t a job, it’s a sector. People will earn £20k and £100k and everything beyond and in between.

CleverCatty · 28/01/2021 10:38

Temp PA but on a year now 2 years contract with central gov - £30,000 PA - 49. Could earn more if I could be bothered.

Good luck triangulating all my bullshit.

That's disgusting - was that in a high street bank or one of the merchant banks?
