PLEASE HELP anyone?!

Currently 400 miles from home. My friend drove us to see a show and his car has broken. Nobody would fix it yesterday. Currently sat outside a kwikfit but I told my boss it was MY CAR and he wants to see the receipt. I'm so stupid. My dad said it was better to say it was mine. How tf do I get out of this!

Why don't you just show him the receipt (which will probably show the location) and the show tickets - to prove that you were stuck 400 miles away. Whose car it is is irrelevant isn't it? Your stuck 400 miles away because the car you travelled there in has broken down.

If you still have the show tickets or confirmation in your amen show that too which proves you went obviously.

Don't worry we can all panic and say the wrong thing.

Just apologise and say you panicked as you really didn't want to miss work.

I'm a manager and I wouldn't value honesty. Please don't lie again because you'll end up getting in a right mess. good luck

To make sure I was where I said I was as I'm missing today at work. I am terrified of my boss and I think the receipt will show what car it is. And it's neither of mine :(

Any other boss I'd of just told the truth but he is the kind who would of asked why didn't I walk home. There were no trains under 200 yesterday. I'm so stupid. Lessons to be learned.

Ok, so you shouldn't have lied in the first place, but how would your boss know if it is your car or not from the receipt? Do you do a job where your car is registered with the company in some way, such as a carer?

You could always ask jail fit to keep the reg off the receipt-they might do that?

Otherwise just own up. Apologise. Show him receipt.

I don't understand why you told it him it was yours. Your Dad was wrong to suggest that.

I would have just told my boss exactly what happened. it didn't matter whose car it was, it was the car that was going to get you home and it couldn't.

I work a lot in my car. He's aware of the reg etc. Not sure I can bribe kwikfit😂

So either own up and say you were worried and panicked and told a lie. Or else just brazen it out and say 'oh, did I say it was my car? I meant it was my friend's car, must have been a slip of the tongue. I was so busy thinking about the logistics of how I was going to get home that I must have got my words mixed up'.

I don't generally advise lying to your boss btw, it's just that in this case it really wouldn't make any difference if it was your car, your friend's car, your dad's car or anyone's car. The bottom line is that you are stranded far from home through no fault of your own.

I'd also want to ask why he doesn't trust you to be telling the truth?

Unless you have previously been caught out lying about reasons for not turning up for work, in which case I can understand him questioning it.

Never lied to my boss before. Never will again! Currently seeing if I can get kwikfit to leave the make and model of the car out 😭

You were obviously flustered on the day but simply don't recall saying that, sorry if I misled you sort of thing?

It's neither here nor there anyway, you were stranded away from home with a broken car and couldn't get back, shit happens. What does it matter whose car it was?

What business is it of your boss, you may well have a second car which he doesn't know about?
You were where you said you were, he sounds like a right bastard unless you have a habit of elaborate sickies?

I once worked with someone who said she thought she may have been abducted by aliens on the way to work as she'd no idea why she was 3 hours late! She was entirely serious.

Why did you lie? That bit is not clear.

No way will the company leave the car off the receipt as it will also act as the guarantee for the work.
